are there any motherboards that don't

Most B350 motherboards should have updated bios' by now, and B450 boards are good to go out of the box.

Though for that budget, look at a used dell optiplex with a 3rd or 4th gen i5/i7 and add in a 1050ti or 970. @Crunchy Dragon Should have more info on that set up.

Most likely won't support that M.2 SSD though unless you get an adapter of some sort

I got the impression that you're upgrading from a laptop for some reason, but in case you're not, try this build on for size.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Oh thank you so much! I'm not actually upgrading from a laptop as I have a Dell XPS 13 9370, but I want a desktop, thanks!

Depends on when the initial buyer bought it and if they did update it.

Looking at the 2200g though, you can disregard the 710 completely as the 2200g will outdo it.

Are you building from scratch or upgrading? My list would be to replace an old PC's guts, but if you need a whole system with the Ryzen 3 2200g it's a different story. Also you can ditch the 710, it's weaker than Ryzen's integrated graphics.

Really? I didn't expect that but I might do B450, 8GB RAM, and I don't know what case to use.

I do have a ThinkCentre M82 but all I could gut from that is the i5- 3470 and the 4gb ddr3 ram

For that MATX board @fasauceome had in his list, I'd use the Q300L.

That might have a proprietary or insufficient power supply, and maybe an ugly case as well. Since it's definitely short an SSD, it kinda seems worth replacing.

Maybe this instead. $300 doesn't get you much PC

2nd or 3rd gen never had native M.2 support as a whole, that really started becoming a thing once LGA 1150 hit.

Some kind of PCIe to M.2 adapter should work, though.

For a tighter budget, I value storage capacity over storage speed. 120GB won't last much longer after you install an operating system on it, I'd highly recommend a 1TB Seagate Barracuda or WD Blue(whichever's cheaper).

Frankly speaking, the price/performance on that list is pretty bad when you take into account that for just 30-50 USD more, you could get a way better system.

Do not use an A320 motherboard, it's crap. Also, again, ditch the 710, it's worse than the 2200g integrated graphics.

I am just after purchasing the AB350M and a Ryzen 3.

It's a brand new motherboard and processor. Should I get the boot kit or would it be updated?

There's a pretty decent chance the motherboard is already updated, but if you want to be ready, might as well order the boot kit, pretty sure it's free.
