I will be switching to win8.1 and I noticed on my ASUS motherboard website, that some of the files don't exist for win8.1. Like there is no chipset and sata drivers for 8.1 (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LM_LX/#support). So I have the stock CD for chipset and LAN drivers that come with motherboard, so will they work with win8.1 normally?

If you have Windows 8 now, and you will be upgrading to 8.1. Microsoft recommends to uninstall you security software and reboot, before starting the upgrade process of Windows 8.1. In many cases (happened by many on this forum) their security software solution that they have, blocked things which either creates an error somewhere and reverts things back, or really screw things up, and now you need to format and re-install. Of course, just in case of pure bad luck, be sure to backup your stuff before doing 8.1 upgrade, much like any Service Pack or Windows version upgrade.

That is not true. I have had driver issues after upgrading Windows 8 to 8.1, and they still don't work properly. However it doesn't affect me much anymore.

You really don't know until you try.

Yea most if not all of them will work on Windows 8.1. All of my applications were compatible with Windows 8.1 so I think you should be fine. As for the drivers, I would just get the latest drivers for the highest OS if it doesn't have Windows 8.1 on the asus website and see if it works.
