GPU only hitting 50% load

Hi LTT Community,

 

I have been experiencing problems with my GPU.  I am running battlefield v at the high default with future frame rendering turn off as well as v-sync.  My GPU will only ever hit 50% load while playing the game.  My fps is barely getting over the 60FPS mark.  My system specs are ryzen 5 1600x (3.9Ghz), 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB (3000Mhz), MSI GTX 1070 Gaming and Aorus Gaming 5 Motherboard.  I don't know why this problem is occurring.  I have tried reinstalling drivers and completely wiping hard drives to see if windows was the problem with no success.  Someone please help.

Turn FFR on or use DX12.

To me, it looks like your processor might be bottlenecking your graphics card. Also, welcome to the forums!

Ryzen 1600 at 3.9 Ghz will not bottleneck 1070, it's not a freaking FX

That was what i was going to say. This CPU should be fine for a 1070.  even a RTX 2080Ti wouldn't be bottlenecked

True, I didn't realize it was at that clock speed, my bad. At least it's not the processor

No, this is BF5 being BF5. It refuses to work without future frame rendering on DX11. So you either use FFR on DX11, or DX12 with FFR off. Otherwise CPU and GPU load is locked at 50%

Ah this worked.  Its now running at around 70%.  Still not 100% but i guess it better than it was before thanks

Well how is the rest of the system holding up?

Rest of system is fine and stable.  I'm fine with it now.  Depending on the map it will sometimes be around 70% load and others it will hit around 95%.  My guess is that it is just battlefield 5's poor optimisation.

Well as just saying something is fine isn’t really saying much. Doubt bf has bad optimization. More so the settings and pc issues would lead to that.

Do you have the game.  I always see people saying that they are having crashes and issues in chat.

Haven’t reinstalled it since I reinstalled windows. Cpu wasn’t keeping up worse than bf1. So i upgraded.

A lot have people have noticed that performance hasn't been as good since they added the ray tracing support.  Unpopular opinion but i think that nvidia are purposefully rolling out game ready drivers for the older cards to not run as well because they are not selling enough RTX cards

Well if you aren’t forced to update for a game, there isn’t a reason to use a new driver.  

 

They could be pulling an apple move but I wouldn’t see a point in it.
