Openshot+Handbrake

So what I've essentially been doing because openshot does not support hdr exporting, I've been editing my footage with Openshot, and then having to export the damn thing. Then after that I have to encode it, which is essentially doing the same thing twice...Am I going about this wrong? If anyone suggests a paid program, I'm not willing to pay for one, because most of them are expensive as hell. Any help would be much appreciated on this matter, or tell me if I need to clarify more.
