Hello.

 

Given that there's things i like about both types and my current monitor is 7yo 60hz TN model, anything will be an upgrade as well as something will alwayws be a sacrifical lamb so the main question is more about prolonged usage. I live in a room whose windows go out on the dark side of the building so light is a huge issue as it's darker & colder here than outside even during daytime. I also use my pc during late evening & night time(up to 5m) very often and also i can spend more than 12 hours using it. So the question is which type is better for dark rooms(as i heard backlight is a huge problem for ips) and which doesn't get too hot from intensive usage(don't want to damage the details).

 

My GPU is 1050Ti, so it's obvious that i'm not looking for high-end gaming solution. FHD@60hz 20-24inches would do fine. If you have any specific models, please share.

The backlight issue with IPS is mainly what is called light bleed. This is when the backlight leaks out of the side of the panel. For gaming, a TN panel is just fine. You sit directly in front of your computer so you won't have any color shifting issues which IPS solve by having wider viewing angles. Color is also more accurate on IPS but again, for gaming, you really won't notice it. I would go for a TN panel gaming monitor.

I will look for info on specific models tomorrow but right now I found this one - Samsung C24F390FHI. What can you say about it? Competitions are:

After using IPS, TN, and VA. I prefer VA as it looks better due to most panels having backlight bleed that also may shift colors

Be damn sure to pick a VA monitor that has had its pixel response tested properly by reviews. if u end up getting a slower pixel clock VA panel, it will show significant ghosting.

 

I would still choose VA over IPS personaly, but i would make sure to get one that has fast pixel resposne for a VA.
