using 2 gpu's on one screen, will this work?

i want to use 2 gpu's on one screen.

one is my GTX 690 for playing SLI supported games

the other is my GTX 780Ti for playing games that don't support SLI.

will Windows detect my display 2 times, enabling me to disable one of them in order to switch gpu's or is it more complicated than that?

Plug in each screen on a different input (one in HDMI, one in DVI-D) and switch source on your monitor to switch between screens.

AND Set windows to mirror desktop on both screens!

and it will know what gpu to render the game on?

Let's say you have the HDMI plugged into the monitor coming off the 780TI. When source on the monitor is switched to HDMI, any graphics applications will be accelerated through the 780TI

and that will work even though i'm using a tv as main screen? because if i turn off my tv it still thinks it's connected.. only if i unplug the tv from power will windows see i'm not using it anymore.

I don't think it works like that if your mirroring displays? As it still wants to use card #0 (Card 1)

Tricky problem... didn't think it through... and now OP mentioned it's a TV so that might make it harder... I'm stumped.

in my case card #1 will still be the gtx 690...

Yes you would probably have to actually swap PCI-E card slots to use the TI for games that don't support SLI or have anus for scaling.

I wouldn't imagine so, but I've also never honestly tried myself as there isn't much info about trying to do something like this online unless your trying to do like a multi vm setup.
