What do you think the chances of breaking your power button is? I just spent quite a while frustratingly trying to trouble shoot it, only to find out something is up with the power button. To be honest, I find it quite funny. I just put my reset button on the power pins instead now.

Damn that's sorta scary

So is the realization that you could be sitting at your computer and have a meteorite smash through your roof and embed itself in your head.
Or you could experience an unprecipitated MI and fall over dead before you finish reading this sentence.
Heck, even your PSU could fail and cause not only property damage (taking your entire computer and potentially residence with it), but personal harm and/or death as well.

Just because it can happen, doesn't mean it's going to. Of all the things to be scared of, as well, a power button should likely be the least of them. It wouldn't be all that complex to replace, or bypass altogether, one way in which you've already done. Just have to live life one day at a time and go with the flow :P. Life's a dangerous thing, but you've only got one, live it to your fullest, don't sweat the small stuff, like a power button :P.

Had the issue, had to swap it around. Some days it would turn on, some days not at all. My boards have buttons so it was easy to get by until I found the actual issue.

Wait.. are we just talking about the power button on the case?

It's just a momentary switch.  Press the button and the pins on the other end get shorted together.

Should be easy to troubleshoot as an issue could be a broken wire, etc.  Just open the case up and look at the wires from the button in the bezel down to the motherboard's pin header.  It's not rocket surgery.
