Could be several things. Have you checked to see if their is a lot of dust accumulation? Could be a heat issue. The other thing that it could be is a ram issue... so I would do a memory test to see if that is the issue. If you leave it at the freeze screen does it eventually give you a blue screen? You can also try using event viewer to see what the problem is (that is if it was able to capture it).

You said its when you launch or close a game? So you can run  games in certain situations? Have you opened up your case to see about dust clogging up your PC?

Memtest 86 can test your ram.

Coretemp or Realtemp or HWMonitor can test temps and clocks/voltages of your CPU.

What are the specs of your PC?

CPU - Ryzen 7 5800x3D |  GPU - RTX 3080 TUF OC | Motherboard - ASUS TUF X570 | RAM - Patriot Viper Blackout 32GB 3200MHz | Case - InWin 805 | Boot Drive - Corsair MP600 PCIe 4.0  Storage - 2 x 1TB SSD's & 1 500GB SSD | PSU - Seasonic Focus Gold 1000w | Display - ASUS TUF VG27WQ Curved 1440P 165Hz | Cooling - ASUS TUF LC240 AIO + 5 aRGB Fans

does this freezing also happen when you close a full screen movie or when u exit your audio player after playing some music? if yes then multimedia class scheduler is being a piece of shit. if not then either a piece of hardware is failing or a bad driver is lurking i suspect.

let's stay positive and assume your hardware is fine and you just have a goofy driver installed thanks to windows doing it for u most likely. if you don't mind gogole snappy driver installer origin and once installed click the download indexes only after u've opened the program, wait for the stuff to download and peruse the results. chances are you will have alot of updates because windows doesn't take care of shit besides your video card driver, internet driver yada yada ya.

good luck

it doesnt seem to happen when i close a full screen movie,  just when i try to lanch some games like gtav or black ops 2, and everything stops when it freezes, from my wallpaper from wallpaper engunie to my music or my friends on discord, but when it freezes i can still type things in discord and send my discord messages, but not anything else, i had this happen before, but i installed a new copy of windows and it stopped for about a month. then came back, so i dont think its hardware.
