I have two hopefully simple issues with MX Linux. First, my audio isn't working. The only thing I've tried (besides obviously turning up the volume) is looking in Alsamixer to see if my headphones are muted, which they aren't. Second, if I try and select my Steam library folder which is on my 1TB HDD (Linux is also on this drive, but in a different partition. The Steam library partition is NTFS if that makes a difference), it gives me an error saying:

New Steam library folder must be on a filesystem mounted with execute permissions

I don't know how to fix either of these issues but I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Thanks!

Quote me to see my reply!

@kelvinhall05

Install NTFS-3G & read https://askubuntu.com/questions/30243/why-does-ubuntu-refuse-to-execute-files-from-an-ntfs-partition (Ubuntu, but applies to you)

Tell us your sound card (if applicable), motherboard & output of 'uname -a'

If your sound should come from your GFX card, list that too

Most sound cards are supported by default, we may be able to help with further info but you might need to resort to https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/

The only knowledge I can give is that on Linux (I can only confirm this on Ubuntu) by default sets NTFS partitions to read-only. I've been told this can be fixed to read & write but I've not learned how. (Maybe via Terminal using "chmod" as root but I don't know for sure.)

As for audio I'm just as lost as you. I can only assume it's a config issue unless you have a really abstract audio controller than your version of linux has no driver for.

@Windows7ge

You need to us the NTFS-3G FUSE driver to have good RW support

If it could be helped then I'd probably just use a network drive to exchange data using the OS's respective file sharing protocols. Then each computer could use their NTFS & ext#(or else) without this additional hassle.
