With Ryzen, Ram Frequency matters, sometimes to the tune of 10-15 fps in games when comparing 2133 to 3200mhz kits. I would fork out the money on at least 3000mhz to take advantage of it.

If you're spending $1300+ on a 2080Ti, do you really need to save $10 on a cheap kit of RAM?

Go with at least 3000MHz with Ryzen. 3200MHz is good too. There's no need for anything crazy like 4000MHz+ memory.

if you get a 2080 ti just to cheap out on 50-75usd for ddr2133, it will stutter and make ur 2080 ti run like a 1060 3gb at times.

 

minimum is 2666, 3200 (200usd) or 3600 b-die really recommend with a 2080 ti.

 

For Farcry 5 (just an example), with ddr2133, you'd be looking at dips into 40 fps, and i can bet future games will be even more demanding

The CPU is directly affected by ram speed and timings, and you'll see a fps difference under heavy load, 2133 will hold the cpu and gpu back, need all the cpu horsepower we can get.

 

With how consoles use 8 cores these days and how the ps5 is rumored to be based on a custom navi gpu, we are fast approaching a cpu bottlenecks for 120fps~ for all cpus. During the 2080 ti benchmarks, techtubers observed some bottlenecks with even the 8700k and 9900k. Zen 2's the hope.
