If your on any budget, ryzen 5 with 16gb of ram and a used 1070 or higher

no budget is i7 8th or 9th gen with 16gb of ram and a 2000 series nvidia gpu

budget should run you $800 if you can deal hunt expertly

no budget is gonna run you around $2000

Hi,

I have a custom build PC I ordered about 4 years ago and I thought that it is time to update it a bit. Now, I don't want to spend too much money and what I am actually looking for is not a replacement of my whole built but rather I want to know, which parts are the bottleneck of my configuration concerning graphics performance and what are the possible replacement parts.

My configuration:

Intel Core i5-4690K

ASUS Maximus VII Ranger, Intel Z97

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 Twin Frozr Gaming 2GB MSI

8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3-2133

120GB Samsung 840 EVO

600W BeQuiet! SystemPower 7 80+

Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H80i

Thank you in advance for your help and effort.

What do you use it for and do you want to upgrade for the point of upgrading, or because something could work better?

The two things I recommend you upgrade...

1) The CPU, look on Ebay for used i7 4770K's or 4790K's.

and

2)The GPU, what would your budget be for a GPU?

bump ram to 16 and upgrade video card, everything else is a small upgrade imo.

if you can find a used i7 cpu, then also go for that.

Generally, I use the PC for gaming but nothing that requires too fancy performance. Additionally, I use it for general home office, browsing and multimedia purposes.

My budget for a CPU is about 350 Euros.

GPU, well, I don't want to spend more than 700 Euros but if there's nothing better for that price on the market, then I will pay more.

Don't do the cpu upgrade then, maybe get a new ssd for faster/more storage, and a ram increase to just do more stuff at once. That said, maybe consider the gpu upgrade to a gtx 1060 if you want a little graphics boost + 4k support.

Then get a 500GB 860 EVO and a used GTX 1070.

I hope to get a better framerate with new games and that I can still play new releases with some of the higher graphics settings.

really your pc is close to the point of nearly everything can be updated, so if you goal is new releases at high framerates at high graphics settings, just focus on the gpu and save up for a current gen cpu/mobo combo
