Best 144hz - 240hz budget monitor

I'm looking for a new monitor. I use a 60hz monitor at the moment. I want to upgrade to a 240hz monitor, but depending on my budget I may have to settle for 144hz.

Either way its a massive upgrade.

 

What are some decently priced monitors?

 

Something with display port would be nice. I'm from Ireland so UK or European websites would suite better, however other international sites are welcome too.

If you have any big box retailers around, I would suggest to visit and see for yourself the difference between 240hz and 144/120hz. I personally think the jump from 60 to 144/120 is worth more than the jump from 144/120 to 240. Look for sales and deals, but even if you don't get a good deal, don't be remorseful about it. Good monitors will last you a long, long time. 144 hz monitors start at about $250, 200 EUR, or 180 GBP, though I would probably get one that's slightly more expensive if it means more features that you will use. This is the important part. There's no point buying something you won't use.

Here are a few 144 hz monitors on amazon, with the cheapest overall being 190 GBP and the cheapest with DP to be around 220 GBP

If you're using it for gaming, do you have a graphics card that is powerful to pump out 144 - 240 fps at 1080p?

I will take advantage of 240hz in games like Counter Strike. Other than that, in new triple A games I would get around 90 - 120fps.

I get you. The reason I'm considering 240hz is that its only about half the price of a 140hz monitor extra , to get 240hz. So I think it would be worthwhile to spend the little bit extra.

You don't want to use either of those on CS:GO.  While I'll admit I think the whole obsession with a millisecond advantage in a game is stupid, G-Sync and FreeSync add slight latency.  If slightly lower latency is more important than the game looking good, those aren't good choices.
