Do I require the yellow lead?

EnergyEclipse
Go to solution Solved by KenjiUmino,

the fan will work fine without the yellow wire - but what do you need 300m (m = meters ?) cables for

Hello!

So I recently purchased a 12v DC fan from Marlins which has 300m flying leads as connectors, with red being positive and black negative.

I plan to salvage a three pin fan header with wiring still attached so that I can gel filled crimp the header and fan.

However, do I have to have the yellow tachometer wire from the 3 pin header's wires? I don't really need to know the RPM since I'll put it on a low noise adapter of sorts anyways. I'll set the fan to run at maximum speed in BIOS.

Thank you very much in advance!

Oh few, thank you very much for your help! I really don't know measurements very well, I just wrote what it says in the box I it the original thread. It's a foreign fan manufacturer so it doesn't surprise me it is odd xD
