4K or FULL HD TV

Simon771

I'm tired of watching my movies and TV series on 24" display from my bed, so I'm deciding to buy TV.

I know that there aren't any TV streams in 1080p or higher in my country, and  won't even be using it as TV anyway. But I'm watching 720p or 1080p movies and TV series.

Would it be better to have around 110-120cm TV with 1080p rsolution to watch 1080p movies?

Or would it look better to watch 1080p movie on 4K TV?

I'm not going to spend anything more than 400€ on it probbably.

It will be conncted via HDMI to my PC and I will place it on the wall right above my monitor. So when I decide to watch something, I will just drag VLC program up on my TV and that's it. Almost like having 2nd monitor.

I can get 1080p TV 110cm for around 320€

Or 4K 110cm for 380€.

I know gaming on TV is out of the question, so I'm not realy sure if I do need 4K and if it would even look nicer since there aren't any movies or TV series recorded in 4K.

Any idea what would look better?

High-quality 1080p panel rather than low 4k anyday

If you're getting this and you're not upgrading for a while (to you, it's relative), I'd go 4k if the upscaling of the TV is good. Also, you could start to see more 4k content in future, but a 1080p monitor won't really be able to take advantage of that if it does happen. I don't know what country you're in, so I can't tell you how likley that is to happen, but 4k is being pushed pretty hard, even in places it doesn't need to be yet.  From what I've seen, 4k up scaling looks pretty good, and once you see 4k, there's no going back to 1080p IMO. I'd lean towards the 4k personally.

I'm from Slovenia, and right now we get streams on TV in HD quality. Not full HD, but just HD.

So I expect Full HD to arrive soon, but 4K probbably not for another 5 years at least.

I'm deciding between those TVs.

Philips and LG should be good quality, but no idea about tesla or vox ... first time seeing those.
