Team Fortress 2 doesn't want to launch

For a while now I haven't got TF2 to launch. It seems as if it's going to start the game as my profile says i'm playing Team Fortress but then seconds later it crashes. I have included a log from event viewer if that helps.

Right click -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify integrity of game files.

Let it check and repair and see if it crashes AFTER doing so.

All files successfully validated. It still crashes.

uninstall, reinstall

[PlayStation 2]

See what happens when you delete hl2.exe and verify cache.

Late post but issue was resolved by running the DirectX installer in the installation folder =]
