Should I upgrade GPU or CPU first?

I've got an FX-8320 with an MSI R9 380 4GB video card memory. I'm going to eventually upgrade to 2 crossfire (yes all AMD build, that is a requirement) 8GB aftermarket cards with the 8 core hyperthreaded Ryzen chip (new GPUs probably going to be the Polaris stuff but I could go with two RX 480 8GB or R9 390 8GB). What should I upgrade first, CPU or GPU?

Wait for Ryzen to come out. Latest will be March, and check out AMD's offerings. I would suggest CPU first before going crossfire 480s. A FX-8320 won't bottleneck a 480, but it will bottleneck two of them.

I'm also a production minded individual that does 3D work on top of gaming. I use Blender, among other tools, to the maximum extent with everything from cloth simulation to rendering so that also has to be taken into account. I don't know why I didn't' add that before. I'm running 1080p 60hz by the by.

Wait for Ryzen before you upgrade to anything new.
