So, I currently have 2 systems, one is my laptop and one is a desktop (parts below), I bought this laptop 2 years ago because I needed a powerful system that I could move around, I used to travel outside the country every couple of months for a 30-90 day span, so I wanted to be able to play my games and everything while I was away from home. On the other hand, I have a desktop (parts below also), it's not the best thing ever. So since my circumstances have changed, I was thinking on selling my laptop and with that getting me another one that's not so high-end, that I can carry around easily to school and stuff, and then have some extra to at least change the i3 on my desktop for an i5. So I wanted to hear opinions from people with similar circumstances and maybe some ideas on what laptop I could get, I don't want to go too low on a new laptop because then I would feel the change too much. I think I can sell mine for around $800-$900. Thank you all for your comments, sorry for the long post (no potatoes).

For the desktop:

Replace the i3 with an i5-6500 (or i5-7500 with a BIOS update).

Add an additional 8Gig stick of RAM to both increase the RAM to 16Gigs and enable dual-channel access.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

This was only for gaming in my livingroom, that's why the gpu is that much better compared to the cpu, but now that I want it for main system I need to upgrade. That's a good option laptop, wonder how it would do in light gaming.

Yeah that's the plan.

Yeah that's the plan.

It does fine with light gaming, I know a guy who owns it.

Oh I hadn't seen that it has a 940M, yeah, that should be plenty for my needs. Thank you for the info. I feel more confident about it now.

You should check out this laptop, http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/inspiron-15-7567-laptop/pd for $900 USD you get a GTX 1050TI \, Windows 10 Pro, 256GB SSD etc.

But then I blow up the budget to get the new desktop CPU, from the money I sell the Asus laptop I need to buy both the new laptop and an i5 for my desktop.
