Useful Android Apps

nickbu1

Place for people to share any useful Android apps they may use

I'll start it off with a few I use:

AutomateIt:

AutomateIt is quite a useful app that can automate daily tasks for you on your phone. The app does the automation by using a list of Triggers ranging from battery level to SMS received to a location trigger. You then chose the action you would like this trigger to do, these can be things like turn on/off wifi, start an application and dial a phone number. The app also has a market which you can browse to find rules that other people have already made and you can download to use.

Some of the things I use it for are:

When my battery level reachers 30% it will turn off wifi and mobile internet and reduce my screen brightness.

When my battery reaches above 30% it will do the opposite of the above one.

When I change my volume to vibrate it reduces my media volume to 0.

These are just a few of the huge variety of things you can do with this app.

ASTRO File Manager

Great little file manager to keep track or storage space on your SD Card, can also manage files from Cloud storage programs like Dropbox, Google Drive and Skydrive.

1Tap Cleaner

Cache cleaner for Android, great if you need more space on your phone memory for more apps.

Quadrant Standard

Benchmarking app for Android, fun to compare how fast your phone is compared to others.

Rotation Lock Widget

Useful to have on your homescreen so

Natwest App

Useful to manage your finances on the go, don't really need to explain this one.

Auto Trader App

Useful and very UI friendly to find cars for sale around you, just like the website you can access saved searches.

So do you know of any other great apps out there?

Let me know if you find any of these useful.

Seeder. Fixes some pretty big random pool bugs by refreshing it every minute. Nice performance boost, and although it's a paid app on the market, you can get the .apk from the dev on XDA. Does need root though.

Wow, a lot of good suggestions here. Is there any difference between Root Explorer and Astro? I have used both but the only difference I saw is that Astro looked a bit more fluffy.

Some nice apps I use:

MoboPlayer- media player w/ swipe controls for volume, brightness, timeskip. Love those features.

FTPDroid - To transfer files to my device through wifi for w/e reason.

inSSIDer - Network stuff.

La`~

I haven't used Astro since Android 1.6 days. I prefer Root Explorer because it is simple and has Mount r/w on there so it allows me easy access to parts outside the /sdcard/

i also felt astro was too bloated (in my opinion) adding unnecessary features such as task killer.
