YouTube quality setting 720p or 1080p on a 900p monitor

Go to solution Solved by Guest Kloaked,

You get a higher bitrate when you get to a higher resolution setting in the player, so you'll get a better picture, it just won't be 1080p.

No it won't scale down like you think it will.

So i just wanted to know what would be better for viewing on a 1600 x 900 monitor 720p which would be up scaled so not as sharp or 1080p which would be downscaled  so artifacts which on is a better quality setting on YouTube for my monitor (sorry for the not very well written question feeling lazy today)

The higher you set it the better due to how YouTube delivers it's content.

Youtube changes other things than just resolution with its settings. The higher you go, the better the content should look, but not completely due to downsampling.
