RAMPAGE IV EXTREME VS RAMPAGE IV BLACK EDITION

Go to solution Solved by Prastupok,

On my contry ( Bulgaria )

Black edition is :  916,29 лв

and Deluxe is: 761,00 лв

So its not woth giving extra money for black right ?

As I said, unless you need that many hard drives and USB ports, get an X99-A or X99-Pro

What's the difference between "RAMPAGE IV EXTREME"  &  "RAMPAGE IV BLACK EDITION". Wich one you will choose and why ?

They don't do anything that much better than any other Asus board. Just more features for a specialized market.

The projects never end in my line of work.

It depends on what you need...

If you need massive sata expansion (like I did), then something like an X99 deluxe or Gaming 9 would be better.

If you don't plan on connecting 10 hard drives, then any motherboard will be fine.

The projects never end in my line of work.

You won't take advantage of the deluxe unless you need 10 HDDs... get an X99-A or X99-Pro if you want to waste, but the deluxe is too much if you won't use it. Take the extra money and put it somewhere else in your build. All of the Asus boards overclock the same.

I go for that build i guess:

Case: Nzxt h440 (If possible Razer Edition)
PSU: HX1000i or Corsair AX860i ( if its enouhgt )
Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K or I7-5820k

Ram: G.SKILL Trident X Series or Corsair Platinum Dominator
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 2x raid 0
HDD: Maybe i will not use HDD and only SSD i guess.....
Case fans: Dunno!
Proccesor Cooler: Kraken X61

Thats the second build but prolly first build i will choose:
Case: Nzxt h440 (If possible Razer Edition)
PSU: Corsair AX860i
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming G1
GPU: Intel i7-4790K

Asus Rampage IV Black Edition and 5930/5820 do NOT work together.

And, it's stupid to buy a rampage board unless you're doing some LN2 extreme OC stuff.

I go for that build i guess:

Case: Nzxt h440 (If possible Razer Edition)
Widely regarded as an amazing case

PSU: HX1000i or Corsair AX860i ( if its enouhgt )
Unless you plan on adding a few more video cards, or other internals, you really don't need a 1000W PSU, 750 should do fine, maybe even 650.

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
Overpriced IMO, also mismatches with the 5820k listed below

CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K or I7-5820k
5820K will not work with Rampage IV Black. If you want black and 2011-v3 socket, go for the MSI X99S SLI Plus, much cheaper too.

GPU: Gtx 980/970 ( Dunno witch one )
Personally, I'd go with EVGA, but this is all personal preference. If the 3.5GB VRAM thing bothers you on the 970, go with the 980.

Ram: G.SKILL Trident X Series or Corsair Platinum Dominator
RAM is RAM. Anything will work. You'll need to decide what frequency you're going for. 1866 will still do well. If you go with X99, you'll need DDR4 and that's a whole different story. If you go deep into it, you can compare timings, latency etc...  If you want to do the black thing, which is what I'm assuming, HyperX Fury or Predator memory will match well.

SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 2x raid 0
Will be plenty fast, that's for sure.

HDD: Maybe i will not use HDD and only SSD i guess.....

Case fans: Dunno!
If you want an accent color with the fans you can either get LED fans, or get some Corsair fans and paint the color rings an color you want. Personally, I love corsair and Noctua fans.

Proccesor Cooler: Kraken X61

A few comments because I'm bored at work.

CPU  5820k - 4.0GHz @ 1.27V  |  MOBO X99-Pro  |  RAM 16GB Ballistic @ 2133MHz  |  PSU HX750i
