Microphone very quiet/not working.

Actually my case had a faulty or cheap 3.5mm jack. Everything was fixed as soon as i got a usb soundcard.

I've played out with the settings a lot but still my microphone is very quiet that barely picks up me speaking into it right in front of my mouth. Is it a problem that is software and driver related or is my 3.5mm jack screwed? Tried different headsets that work on my phone and friends laptop but never seems to work properly on mine.
