Windows 10 can't find drivers on ryzen.

Guest

Hello

I broke my windows install again.(It's like a yearly thing or something) and wanted to install it, however windows can't find drivers it says.

So my PC is a b350 motherboard with a Ryzen 1700 CPU and titan xp GPU. I installed windows 10 1903 on a usb 2.0 flash drive and plugged it in. Then went to boot menu with f12 and clicked the boot from usb uefi option. I tried clicking the other option(without the uefi part) but it would just give me a message that it isn't a valid boot drive.

So I click the uefi option, it boots to the window saying install windows, I click it and it loads for a bit then it says it can't find any drivers and wants me to browse for them.

I'm unsure how to fix the issue, I tried usb2.0 and 3.0 ports. I tried downloading drivers from the motherboard site and puttin them on the flash drive and opening them using the browse function, didn't work either.

Also while doing that I noticed that it has drivers. Both my usb flash drive, as well as the hard drive I want windows to install on are visible and browsable, so I don't really know what drivers it's missing.

So anyone know how to fix the mixxing drivers error for AMD ryzen?

Thanks!

Does it say what drivers? At what stage is it stopping? Do you ever get to select a drive/partition to install to?

It asks for drivers at the point where it normally would let you select which partition you want windows on.

So it can't find your system drive, and that's what it's asking drivers for. What's your storage setup?

It's just an HDD attached to my MB(not CPU) sata ports. And a usb flash drive to the USB port. If it can't find my system drive, how can it be visible in the browse optio nto find drivers?

That's weird.

Have you reformatted the system drive yet? Might be something that casues Windows not to consider it as an OK drive to install to...

Also might want to check in the BIOS that hotplug isn't enabled on this SATA port.

No I have not. I'll try.

But I feel like it should still show up and let me reformat it, even if it doesn't like what's on the drive.

Yes. That's why I mentioned the hotswap option, this would cause it to see the drive as being a removeable disk when it only wants to install on a fixed disk.

I don't think my PC supports hotswapping but I'll check the bios. Thanks.
