motherboards audio port doesnt work when the front port is connected via audio jack.

Click Start > Type Audio > Click Audio Console > Click Advanced Settings > Click Seperate each output as its own channel (might be called something slightly different).

on my old computer I was able to have my speaker connected on the back and headphones on the front and just switch between them, but now i have to disconnect my headphones if i want to use my speakers. any help is appreciated, thanks.

Normal behaviour for PC's since... forever. The idea is to disconnect the speakers when a headphone is detected in the front audio - pretty much what everyone would want to happen.

I'm a semi pro DJ, I assure you I don't want my speakers turning on/off when I connect/disconnect my headphones.

 

I do acknowledge that I'm probably in the minority though.

I wouldnt say forever since my previous pc had the option to switch them.
