Dying laptop

archerbob

I have an old ASUS X53S, it has problems that prevents me using the HDD.  However I can boot from USB and I have a SD card slot.  I attempted to boot from SD but the BIOS has no option for it.

Does anyone know a way I can boot a little USB drive that doesn't stick out to far from the laptop USB port as a boot disk and then have it re-direct to the SD card to load the system?

Note: I already bought a replacement laptop, I thought it'd be nice to try and get around the old laptop' dying sata controller because that's all that is wrong with it and everything else works fine.

EDIT: I just found something that seems suitable called plpbt-5.0.15 that seems to do the job

EDIT #2: I spoke too soon, it doesn't support the SD Card Reader, but everything else... so I am stuck again

EDIT #3: Okay I found a solution in plopkexec I burned the iso to a USB drive and now I can boot my internal SD card.

EDIT #4: plopkexec is a fail, it worked at first but no longer does... i give up
