Can monitor signal loss be due to a bad DP cable ?

Turtle Rig

Hey yall, I have been battling this for a long time now.  Once in a while random I will get a no gisnal monitor turns orange and I must reset.  Could this be a faulty DP cable.  I want to know before I order a new DP cable.

It usually doesn't happen in games, but random on idle.  Just goes out of signal orange like I said. Does anyone think I should get a new DP cable and that is the culprit and what not.  Thanks much!

does your pc or your monitor need to be reset? have you tried a different port on the monitor/your gpu if there are any? are you able to into your monitors OSD at all?

you can always just order a new cable as they arent the most expensive thing in the world, and hey youll have another cable

Thanks for the response.  Ive tried everything and things that you suggested to no avail.  My last draw is a new DP cable.  I hope that solves this issue as its very annoying.  Once again thanks for your kind reply dakotawebber.  Thanks

I had a similar situation happen where my screen would just lose signal and then come back within a second.

The way I diagnosed a bad DP cable was trying other cable options for a while to see if the same issue happened.  It didn't.

So either it was the DP cable, the DP input on the monitor, or the DP output on the GPU.

So I bought a good DP cable and the issue was resolved.

I figured it was the cable because I had the DP coming out of the monitor, then an immediate forced 90* kink for cable mgmt.  Sometimes cables go bad.  I think these days they have chips in the connectors on one or both sides.
