Sorry, what I meant to say is do you think that Nvidia will support freesync over HDMI as AMD does?

Yes, that's possible. It's up to NVIDIA though.

If I was to go out and get a Display Port to HDMI adaptor would i be able to use Freesync/ Gsync on my Acer Nitro VG270 (it supports freesync but only over HDMI ad it does not have a DP connector.). If so would i need to get an active or passive adaptor for freesync to work?

Thanks guys :D

P.S.

Link to my monitor: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/model/UM.HV0EE.001

Also I have a GTX 1060 so Gsync is supported natively.

No, it is not possible.

Do you know if it will be in the future?

Not in the foreseeable future. FreeSync doesn't work through DP to HDMI adapters as far as I'm aware, and that's been here for years.
