Removing backplate from thinkcentre A1U motherboard?

I have an old thinkcentre that I want to replace the cooler/cpu in, but the backplate is held in with these tiny plastic clips
How do I remove them?

The machine is a Lenovo A1U9174, and the cooler looks roughly like a stock intel cooler of the era.
