Hey, I'm experiencing some issues setting up a magsafe charger for my phone in my Vw up. Due to the cars original mount being limited to landscape mode I have 3D printed an adapter to fit a magsafe charger into. The printed part fits right in and the magsafe charger is safely secured to the mount. However, the magsafe charger does not seem to be communicating with USB port in the car correctly and the phone is not charging at all. I have tested the charger with a oneplus power adapter plugged into a wall outlet and it works fine. I have also tested with my laptop and it works fine while connected using the integrated usb-C cable that is attached to the magsafe charger. To use it in my car I connect it with a usb-A -> usb-C adapter that came with the magsafe charger. My first find was that the magsafe charger did not work with the usb-A adapter at all so I bought a 10GB/s adapter after I read on some forum that the type of adapter can be sensitive. However, that did not change anything. I looked up the technical spec for the USB connection in my car which classifies it as a "data" USB port. However, charging my phone with a USB-A -> USB-C cable works just fine. TLDR; 1. Magsafe Charger does work in my car (VW Up! 2018) 2. The Magsafe charger works fine everywhere else but the car 3. The USB-A port can charge my phone just fine using a regular USB-A -> USB-C cable 4. The Magsafe Charger has an integrated USB-C cable and is connected to the car with a tiny USB-C -> USB-A adapter 5. Replacing the "simple" adapter that came with the Magsafe charger to a 10GBps USB-C -> USB-A adapter does not work Any tip on how I could solve this? Anyone with similar experiences? My best guess is that it's just the magsafe charger that needs to be replaced for another variant although I have no idea what to look for since I can't find the root of the issue. I want to make a case for an iPhone out of solid metal. It will be more like an exoskeleton covering the corners that join at the back roughly forming a cross(X). There will be a tpu gasket between the case and the phone. Q1. Is it possible? (I guess it is because there exist some so then my question would be what problems would that cause to communications like NFC, Bluetooth, Phone call, Internet, wifi or hotspot etc. I know metal will affect them but to what degree?) Q2. How much will those problems be mitigated if I use metals that are not so good conductors like titanium or some alloy? Finally Q3: If say it is possible to make one and the problems caused won't significantly affect daily usage to the point where it's noticeable, will it be possible to add wireless charging(specifically Magsafe) through that? Like, say the cross-shaped case(made of titanium) has a circle at the center and that circle houses a circular magnet or whatever that metal is in the iPhone or Magsafe puck? Bought an Xperia 1II yesterday. Out of the box the phone had just 20% of charge, which is kind of weird considering all the phones I had started with more. I used a wireless charging pad from Samsung to charge for three hours and a half for the second charge cycle. Came back realizing the phone had lost 30% of charge and was quite hot to the touch. I then removed it, charged wired for another 4 hours to full. Brought it to work, 7 hours later with just 2 hours of screen-on time, I'm down to just 23% of charge. Definitely moderate use - I had Bluetooth headphones on for local music during transit (1 hour), and mostly used Chrome for web browsing, downloaded a few pictures and a short video clip, and no videos nor games. I guess the question here is really whether having a phone heat up like that could cause the battery to deteriorate so bad it's doing this. I knew battery life can't be good for a phone with a 4k screen but this just seems bizzare. I also wonder how the battery is working for other Xperia 1II owners.

Hey, I am finally swiching to a new phone, my trusty Oneplus 7 Pro has been great, but the price difference between a repair of the screen and charging port, and a new phone. then i think it might be time for a upgrade. I have been salavating over the wireless charging feature so and i have been wondering which phone to get, however i find it a bit hard to see which phones have this feature. The Samsung Galaxy 21 fe has been recomended a lot but are there other (non apple) phones i should consider? Sorry for the broken english its been a wile ;)

Hello everyone! A little while ago, I couldn't find my mini-USB cable which meant I couldn't charge my calculator! Not long after, I discovered little wireless charging receivers which you can add to any device. Curious, I cut the end off of one and discovered that there was simply two power leads that went to the port! That gave me an idea! I knew the metal contacts at the bottom of my TI-84 Plus CE are used for classroom charging stations. Since I have never once used a charging station, those contacts are being wasted! We can't have that can we? Therefor, I took out my screw driver, pulled the calculator apart, and soldered the leads of the wireless charging receiver to the charging station contacts. I cut a bit of plastic shell in order to make everything fit, then I closed it up and it charged right off the bat! This project is actually quite simple for those who are familiar with soldering. In fact I loved this project so much I did it to both my TI-84 Plus CEs without issue! With this mod you can simply throw the calculator on the wireless charger overnight alongside your phone! The calculator just thinks it's in a classroom charging station so it handles all the charging technicalities on its own!

This is probably the reason why Apple have never implemented wireless charging to their iPhones (rumor has it the next one will have it) but of all the companies Disney could make it acceptable. So it seems this wireless charging works kinda like WiFi but instead of data, wireless for electricity. Too bad it's not ready for prime time yet. BMW has revealed their newest hybrid electric vehicle that is projected to hit the markets in 2018 called the BMW 530e iPerformance (because everything needs a small 'i' in it's name somewhere). One of the unique points for this hybrid-electric vehicle over some of the previous offerings is that this one will have the ability for wireless charging. I think my one major concern is the power output of the wireless charger... I wouldn't personally want to stand too close to it and might worry a bit about how this might affect other electronic devices... Anyone want to put their wireless charging phone on the pad and see if it instantly charges up or fries?

With the specs being an i5-7Y54, a 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, the price tag for me pushes this into the realm of nonsensical. Is $550 a worthwhile price for simply ditching the wire? And is wireless charging tech valuable in a laptop? I can see it being useful once the technology becomes more widespread, perhaps on trains and planes built into tables, but the way I use my laptop currently (usually in bed) the wire isn't really an issue.

When I plug the wireless charger in the light does light up for a second then goes off and does not wirelessly charge my device at all. The charging cable and block both work. Does anybody know if there are any existing cases on the market for any phone with a micro-USB connection? I'm working on a project to make one for my phone, would be much easier if there is one for another phone that I can simply cannibalise and move onto a 3D printed or existing case. My Goal is to have a Phone with both Wireless and Wired charging options, so that eliminates the use of ones that take up the Micro-USB port on the device, which is why I'm expecting to have to DIY it, just wanted to see if there is something similar already, this would be one that has a Micro USB pass through and would automatically switch when it detects power through either wireless or wired charging. I don't really need help with this but for the past couple days I was wondering why my wifi wasn't working. I knocked my modem over with my monitor arm and it landed on my wireless charger and i forgot the wireless charger was there so i just left it in case i moved the monitor again. the wifi worked for a bit afterwards, but the next day it was off completely. Then a whole day happens and I decide to stand my modem back up and see the wireless charger and went into the settings and just had to enable the wireless radios again. Interesting how that worked but yeah now i'm just hoping i didn't damage the modem too much. So if you or someone you know has a wireless charger next to a router let them know this happens. Anyone with more knowledge know exactly what might have been happening in this scenario?

I don't like popsockets but my mom does. This Christmas I'm getting her some wireless charging pads and batteries. But I realized she had 2 popsockets on her phone (her phone doesn't have wireless charging but her Mophie case she uses does.) As a back up if the chargers don't work through her popsockets I'm thinking about getting some less bulky popsockets or a ring or maybe a strap she can replace them with. But all the popsockets I see only show them extended and all the rings I see have metal which I know will interfere. Does anyone know of any popsockets that work with wireless chargers or at least some rings?

My girlfriend recently got the iPhone Xs. She also got a phone case for it from Casetify. It’s one of those with the liquid and the glitter on the back like the included picture (not exactly the same but you get the idea. The glitter flows around and it looks pretty.) anyway, I just bought a wireless charger for her phone without thinking about how that case might interfere with the charge. Turns out it still works, but I’m still wondering if the heat from the charger might pose a problem. Does anybody have any experience with these cases being used with wireless charging?

Just bought myself an MM1000 mousepad from Amazon. They very kindly decided to send me a used one with half the stuff missing, but charged me for a brand new one So i dont have the adapter at all. Do Corsair sell that on its own? Or is there anything similar that I can get instead? I was going to use it with my Ironclaw Wireless mouse to give that wireless charging to keep cables at a minimum on my desk. So is there anything that I can use instead?

Why in the world is there so much hype behind wireless charging? To me, it is the first thing I'd want out of any phone that's coming out these days. As far as I can tell, it is considerably slower than wired charging in most iterations, and it is MORE restricted in usability while charging the phone, because it must be ON the charging pad or whatever, whereas you can still use your phone during wired charging for most purposes, wave it around, take a call, blah blah - I don't see that happening with a wireless charger. I've also heard that wireless charging can heat a phone up and damage the insides in the long term. And to top all that off - it makes a phone VASTLY more expensive than one that just charges from a freaking wire. I see absolutely no upside to a wireless charger whatsoever, and when I see reviewers like MKBHD complaining about the lack of wireless charging on the new OnePlus Nord, I wonder why that would be a priority in an inexpensive phone. That's absolutely unnecessary on a budget phone (and I strongly stand by my belief that it's useless on ANY phone, regardless of price). If you're gonna tell me it's annoying plugging your phone in or some crap like that, I'm just gonna scoff and keep silent and silently weep that I don't have to face such first world problems. So tell me, aside from the "wow that's so cool" factor - why wireless? I really want to know (full disclosure - I've never used wireless charging in any form)

I have this pretty neat wireless charger I got from Anker, and I came up with a clever little system using a spare VeSync smart outlet I had to automatically turn off the wireless charger with phone after a certain time, so it isn't needlessly charging, and ruining the battery. My concern is: does that in and of itself mess up the battery? Like, just leaving the phone on the wireless charger itself? Maybe I'm worrying too much but I don't know how phone batteries work so I'm hoping to get an answer here.

Can I wireless charge my 2017 Razer Blade Stealth 13.3”?

I've seen some wireless chargers with cooling fans but is it a gimmick or does it truly help with the heat issue? Just wondering if it would be better to get one with a fan to potentially help my battery life.
