6 Celsius in Late September, PC running CUID HWMonitor shows lowest temp of 16 on samsung HHD airflow (but room never drops below 20, so? value issues?? I have my window cracked 1/3 inch, and 2 pc's (relatively identical lenovo m90p and m93p) both facing the gap, sucking in air and kicking it out away from window (both facing each other below the hole (6 foot desk 2 feet below window) thinking of adding piping to direct the arctic flow? It worries me that the 4 cpu's in the 93 have lowest temps of 2 or 3 degrees different?? they are all on the same chip, nanometers apart?? but on medium idle all night (running folding@home for covid 19 (thanks for the suggestions Linus!) ) cores can dip below 30 celcius, but never above 80 celcius even though some cpu's top up to 100% at times) I kinda wish CPUID showed a time graph instead of just numbers I can't record.. not ready to overclock, just happy that I'm keeping my parts running below burnout temps so it shouldn't ages them prematurely.. thoughts? and this is Calgary, humidity is NOT an issue..90% time. I can dry my banana peels in a day on the kitchen table..

Is it possible that my computer runs hot in the winter and my room is so cold that my case mostly the side panel and such becomes foggy and create water droplets on the computer?

I've been planning a trip to Japan for a while, and two possibilities came up. I can go this winter (over New Year's). It's cheap (off-season) and I have a friend to stay with, but I only get two weeks there, and it'll be cold (I'm tough, but growing up in 50°C / 120°F peaks = better suited to warm weather). I also won't get to see more than four places (Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto/Osaka). The other option is visiting with a friend over May and June next year. I'll get more time, be able to see more places and the weather will be warmer, but it'll be more expensive (end of spring tourism, start of summer tourism), and we'll have to sort out our own accomodation. I'm a student, so I can't guarantee that I'll have more money in May than I willl in December, although I should be able to sell some more equipment, and work over the winter break instead of visiting Japan. What are your thoughts? Would you recommend? Cheers, Aereldor.

Greetings to everyone who encounters this thread. I want to ask you what you think is the best deal on the ongoing 2016 Steam Winter Sale. Since value is entirely subjective, I would also like for everyone to explain why they think their choice is the best deal on Steam right now. The intention is for this thread to serve as a database for people who are looking to pick up a game or two on sale; but are unsure of what to buy, and would like to consider value as a primary deciding criterion. If the thread gets enough replies, I will ask if it is appropriate for it to be moved to the hot deals section. I would also like to request that discussion is limited, so that the majority of this thread's content consists of people's opinions on what they think is the best deal and why, rather than discussions resulting from their choices. I would prefer if it is taken to personal messages. Furthermore, I would like to request that every user read at least the title of all previous submissions, so duplicate recommendations are not posted. Thank you for your submissions! Regards, Aereldor.

.So I was thinking, what are some ways that we could rethink cooling for supercomputers, I propose 3 ideas that came to my mind. It was actually my first thought that was most crazy and the third is more realistic but here they are. Idea #1 - Subaquatic Deep Sea, Water Cooled Super Computer Ok image a large submarine deep down in the that intakes large supplies of very cold water and easily expels it away upwards into currents. Small Ps. i even thought it could be nuclear powered and and just be super powerfully, this also applies to the next idea Idea #2 - Use the Cold Cold Vacuum of Space This one explains it self. After I first thought edit it I figured this just already be used on the ISS but I found that the first supercomputer in space was out up let year and only did on teraflop. But what if we could shield the CPUs and GPUs from radiation but open then up to the frigid vacuum of space. Think of the ease of cooling. The other option in space is using them to heat the living quarters or any other areas requiring heat but that isn't as cool. Idea #3 - Great Canadian North. Linus are you paying attention Why hasn't either someone privately out even our government putting any thought into using the natural for of caffeine winter to cool their data centers. just build outdoor weather proof data centers and supercomputers. Does anyone know if any of this are being used or maybe have failed for what ever reason? Can you think of other kind of crazy ways to cool a computer. Maybe this kind of thing is what they need to do to further quantum computing. Big ps. I don't know how long is been since I was on the site on mobile. It really is beautiful. One of the best looking mobile forums I've used and the best to write in for sure

So, Due to the fact that I just got back from the hill. I thought, why not start a discussion on winter fun. Personally, I much prefer winter over summer. During the summer you get all hot and sweaty, and most falls in sports create injury. I have fallen off my snowmobile at 40+km/s without a bruise. Plus, where I'm located., We get a good amount of snow / ice to play with, and the temps don't go under -25*C all that often. This means that winter is not as hostile as a few places north of us. Resulting in longer ice fishing trips, and longer times on the hill without getting cold. By far my three favorite activities are snowmobiling, skiing, and snowboarding. I have been to almost every hill here in Ontario for skiing / snowboarding. My personal favorites are SearchMont, and Blue Mountain. They are both about the same size, but are totally different in other aspects. Searmont is like a hometown hill. Not too busy, and has verry fiendly staff. It also sports a wonderful mountain to ski. My personal favorite run there is moose-difficult. Basically its just an area with the trees spaced far enough apart to pick any path you want though them. Blue mountain, is technically the same size as searchmont, but is again, totaly different. Its more of a resort than a hill. It sports 7 6 seater lifts, and massive ticket prices. Some days you even have to wait for 10 min to board the lift because its soo busy. Its a great place to ski with your friends, but too sports some nice off pist zones. Trail maps: I only have a old snowmobile, but i still have quite a bit of fun with it. Its old age means that its light, and easy to fix, (two guys can pick it up) compared to newer 500pund + machines with engine lights. Its not fast, but due to its small size and lightness, its fun even in deep powder. It just chugs along. PIC:

Hey guys, This is Austin. Just kidding. I recently purchased fallout 3 from the steam winter sale and am having trouble getting the game to run now. Im not really sure how to apply the fixes that are online since the game is from steam and I dont want to mess with it in any way that could get me banned or something. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is anyone interested in seeing a build log with these parts (ish) by either Winter, Spring, or Summer? i7-6700k (watercooled?) 32GB (2×16GB) DDR4 RAM 2×Successor to GTX 980Ti in SLI Z170 Deluxe MoBo LGA 1151 ATX Corsair 900D painted White 4K 60Hz monitor (between 27-42") 1000w-ish PSU Also, would anyone be interested in seeing a build log of me taking a gaming laptop and turning it into a console-ish thing, but much smaller? I don't know just when I will be able to do this, but it's looking like somewhere between Q4 2015 and Q2 2016. Edit: Current Price Estimate: $5991 USD

Guys...IMMINENT DANGER! Okay, probably not as imminent as I am letting on, but no water? For days? That sounds serious enough to warrant this plea for help. Okay, so last night it went -23c and no amount of leaving my water running or dripping (which usually works) saved me. My water source is gone. What's worse is the cold froze and cracked the engine block (something like that, forget the name) of my car. So no travel. Car place is frozen as well and said they couldn't help, so that's out. And I live in a rural area so walking to a store...out of the question in this cold. I would die. So my question to you lovely folk...should I melt some snow? I read that it is safe if you can get clean, pure white snow off the top of spots you are know are "clean" and boil it for at least forty minutes on high (thank God I still have power). I have several spots in mind. So? Do it or just potentially die of dehydration or wait out this icy temperature? LTT member in need of water in dire times, P.S should something happen I leave my impressive good luck wishes to you all except tmcclelland455, he can't have any of the good luck. don't tell him.

Hey guys, the Steam Winter Holiday Sale is right around the corner, and I was wondering... What games are you planning to pick up? What is your budget? Are you planning to help a good friend out, and pick a game up for them? 1. Looking to get CS:GO, Arma 3, Shadow of Mordor, and maybe another early access game or Just Cause 2. Who am I kidding? I'll buy more games than that if I overspend... Ones that I won't even play! 2. I only got a budget of $100... I gotta make it count. Until I overspend to $200, then $300.... 3. Maybe, but I I already bought games for my friends in the summer sale, so probably not... It's about time they return the favor. I mean... Be nice and share those Christmas cheers! Please be respectful to others, as they enjoy the genre of games they play... We're here to just share our plans. Treat others how you want to be treated, please.

Why can't I collect any Snow Globe Trading Cards? I have voted 9 times and I'm level 3 and haven't got any.

So I have seen a lot of threads of people asking if they should get a game but nothing asking what other people have bought. I didn't pick up anything other than FTL since I don't have a graphics card and honestly it is the best £2 something I have ever spent. Is anybody else amazed at the quality to price ratio of a game they picked up? Recommendations are always welcome

Unable to afford car insurance, decided to look into motorcycles after I installed a 2 stroke kit on my bicycle, didn't know how much I loved something I completely shunned before. I decided to look into motorcycles and it's same excitement I felt when I first started getting into desktop PCs (It feels good!!!) My 2 stroke kit bicycle Currently at 860KM, freehub won't lock even after a rebuild, currently hibernating outside in snow under a tarp~ My priority is winter compatibility (Planing on all season as this will be my daily). I have been looking around for motorcycles themed around 5 things, Winter capability (ice, snow, slush) easy to work on availability of winter studded tires on that particular rim After market parts and the community around it 2 up I noticed one thing fits the bill, dual sport bikes (Didn't know about them till my buddy told me about it and just kept looking into motorcycles after that, once my exams are over I will spend more time researching) and adventure bikes if budget wasn't an issue. For obvious student on a budget with a part time job reasons, I'll be eyeing on used bikes. I wanted to ask the motorcycle riders here, what would you recommend, or suggest? One other question is that, here in Canada, NL there is another balance test (Different from road test) along with the written exam, what is that exactly and how does one prepare for it?
