[Device: iPhone 15Pro, little bit out of date OS (17.3.1), current WhatsApp] Hi, I recently got a call from a foreign phone number on WhatsApp. I answerd the call though they immediately hung up. I realized later that the number came from Cuba, where I have never been. (I also may have accidentally called them back instead of pressing the info button afterwards, hung up immediately though). I am now curious if any WhatsApp Phone Call could compromise/hack an iPhone. Through googling, I found out that there were high level cases in the past, though I probably would never be targeted that hard. If not I wonder why someone would do something like this, I am aware of these "call and hope they call back" scams, though they wouldn't work on WhatsApp. Of course, it could have been an accident, though as the profile picture of the caller changed drastically an hour later, I assume it's more likely not to be totally legitimate. I am a bit worried if the phone could have gotten malware or so (especially as my OS was out of date for a few weeks, now fixed)...

So I have this annoying issue with my internet that is really getting to me right now. My computer says I have Internet. Indeed, I can fire up Firefox and opened like 16 tabs; half of it being YouTube and browse around just fine. Even able to stream my favourite music on Spotify or checking Whatsapp through the browser. The same can't be said for Steam. I can start it up and log in normally, but it's been a few days now and I can't play some of my favourite games because they're all stuck in an endless loop of updates that couldn't be downloaded either due to "No Internet connection" or "Manifest Unavailable". And it wasn't just Steam, both the Spotify and Whatsapp app on Windows were also affected by it. I've tried every trick in the book to get it working, from disabling Firewall to "netsh winsock reset" to even doing the network reset but it still won't work. So what do I have to do now?

Hey LTT enjoyers, I used to frequently use the Whatsapp web application on windows almost everyday, but since their recent move to Microsoft store the app can no longer be downloaded from anywhere else, But since I live in Lebanon and Microsoft stopped their products in Lebanon no download button appears in the store, I tried resetting the app multiple times and tried connecting my Wi-fi to a vpn to see if that would solve it but still no download button, I even tried making a US Microsoft account and still nothing worked, any suggestions?

I'm posting this in general discussion because I don't think this is worthy of being in the tech news subforum. So about 15 minutes ago, WhatsApp suddenly stopped sending messages for me. So I did some basic troubleshooting, like checking if my internet is working, force stopping WhatsApp anx clearing the cache, etc. When it still didn't work, I checked with my family members to make sure theirs is also not working. Then I called a couple friends, and they had this problem too. I then went on outage.report/whatsapp and found out that it's down for a lot of people in multiple countries, but since I'm in India, I'll confirm that it actually is down in my country. Is it working for y'all in the wild west?

After receiving an android software update for my Xiaomi Redmi note 9 pro, WhatsApp created a new directory (Internal shared storage\Android\media\com.whatsapp\WhatsApp\Media) and started writing data to it instead of the original directory (Internal shared storage\WhatsApp\Media). Which created a problem, after a while I realized that I can't access my old media ( pics vids and VNs ) in-app anymore, makes sense since the app stopped writing into the old directory which means no reading from it, but they won't redownload for some godforsaken reason. So the first solution that popped to mind was just copying everything from the old directory and pasting it into the new one using a USB-C cable and a PC, simple enough …or so I thought, it doesn't work! Windows file explorer kept crashing whenever I tried copying the whole thing or it just gave me one of those "no" Windows sounds whenever I tried copying individual folders, no dialogue box just a "no". I've tried multiple times restarting my PC in between, but "no", windows explorer only displays, opens, copies, pastes individual media files in their folders, but doesn't allow me to move them around in bulk as I want. I then tried using the file app on my phone to merge the folders, didn't seem to work (keep in mind am moving a relatively large amount of data) it just got stuck. I can work with not being able to display the pics and vids in-chat since they get backed up and categorized by google photos anyways, but the voice notes are a problem, I want those back, and I can't quite wrap my head around how WhatsApp categorizes them in-directory, the folder names they just don't make sense! So I can't even get the ones that I want.

Neil Pareja posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
This happens like every 5 minutes, on my previos (android) phone, whatsapp web kept connected indefinitely, maybe iOS has a power saving feature that disconnects the wifi or 4g? -
I got a hand me down S10+ from my uncle and just yesterday the charging port stopped working. So I got it repaired at a repair shop and now I'm having mic issues in WhatsApp. Voice messages are dead silent and WhatsApp calls are silent for the first few seconds until my voice can be heard. Any solutions to this?

Good day Looking to move Android WhatsApp from S10 to a S21 without using the Google Drive backup option My internet is slow and Backup is about 5 gig (and I'd rather not give google direct access to my chats.. If they want the info, then let them copy the data themselves:-) --- Was using the following link: https://faq.whatsapp.com/android/chats/how-to-restore-your-chat-history/?lang=en Within Whatsapp, there's a option to backup locally (stored in ./Whatsapp/Database) which creates a dated backup file which I should be able to plunk into the same folder on the new phone But when I install Whatsapp and copy the backup, 99% of the chat history is not Present (there are 2 messages I created which show up; but from a long time ago). Has anyone had any success with moving Whatsapp between phones without using Google Drive and if so, any thoughts or steps to get it working? Thanks Paul

ws= whatsapp wsdtp= whatsapp desktop I use whatsapp fairly regularly and recently i've been using Whatsapp desktop quite a lot and with every passing day i ask myself "How is it that Billion$ companies can't get their software to just f**king work?" (btw is running whatsapp in a browser better than running the desktop app in terms of which uses more resources.) Im having constant issues with whatsapp desktop where it'll just go "oh welp guess your phone's not connected to the net imma time out now" and then i have to open my phone, open ws, wait for wsdtp to reconnect and then continue until 5-10 mins later it happens [begin rant] F***ING AGAIN AND AGAIN. WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY PHONE'S NOT CONNECTED IT'S LITERALLY 5 STEPS AWAY FROM MY ROUTER FOR F**KS SAKE AND ITS ON THE 5GHZ BAND NO LESS[end rant] So i wanted to ask is there any way to get a better experience short of having my phone stay on ws and make the screen so that it doesn't turn off. I've tried looking up some alternatives and the closest i could find was something called Franz which is essentially same shit different skin and can run other apps like Gmail, Telegram etc in the same app. pls send help im losing my fuking mind

Summary In a offical bulletin resolution, the argentinan goverment has solicited Facebok inc to stop the aplication of new terms of service in the argentinian territorie, for possible breach of the "Defence of competition" (free market) law. The resolution also takes into acount the different rulings and resolutions of other entities such as the Brazilian goverment, Germany, the EU, India, Turkey and the FTC. The argentinian defence of the competition comision, will take on an investigation to rule if the new ToS are braking any laws in the country, Quotes My thoughts I think that this is a great move foward for privacy and to stop the andvances faceboook has made in terms of privacy "violations" or personal data mining, im happy that the goverment here has step up and is investigating this issue, whats app is the main messging app in Argentina so this has big implications for the future. Hello, Basically i can't use my spotify anymore (it loads for like 5 minutes and then says something went wrong),same with spotify web player and also i can't open whatsapp with whatsapp web either. They both worked fine until 4-5 days ago when they just suddenly stopped working, but when i connect my laptop to data from my phone everything works again. Note that using incognito mode somehow fixes spotify web player but not whatsapp. I re-installed Spotify multiple times to make sure its not a client issue and now idk what to do so any suggestions would be great. P.S gaming without spotify is kinda lame.

source1 source2:video source3:whatsapp - source 1 So Facebook invested heavily in India which is really getting really scary now. For those of you who aren't from India let me clear the situation up. Jio (4g LTE cellular network) is owned by Reliance industries and the man at the top is Mukesh Ambani (guy in the video in source 2 )who's one of Asia's richest people. He started Jio publicly in September 2016 and in 4 years already is India largest network operator with 370 million plus subscribers (3rd largest in the world) He did this by basically destroying the competition by giving away totally free sim cards and charged nothing for LTE for around a year or more. Because of him alone the LTE rates in India are cheap. for eg. heres a monthly plan for jio 2.61 USD gives you 1.5 GB data/day after that slower speed i.e 42GB/month unlimited jio to jio calling 1000 minutes free 100 sms/day free jio apps - free streaming apps with quite a lot of content. tv shows, music, among other things. Back to Facebook now. Facebook bought whatsapp a while back which currently has around 2 billion users and of those more than 400 million just in India. - data from source 3 Whatsapp is everywhere in India. Even the local grocery seller (not a shop) Whatsapps the price of veggies and you can buy them by replying. he will deliver those to your doorstep. Facebook already tried digital payments with Whatsapp which failed badly. The video in source 2 talks about integrating Whatsapp with Jio and allowing digital payments. This has a HUGE potential. Jio is already at a position where it will dominate the network operator market. There are only 3 major players out of which one is on the verge of collapse (Vodafone India) the combination of both Whatsapp and Jio is deadly as the customer base is already quite huge and may not even have many options to choose otherwise. We all know Facebook cant be trusted at all. I really fear giving such sensitive data to Facebook. (This could be a wan show topic i don't know if there's a thread to post these topics somewhere so correct me if i'm wrong.)

Hi, So I had some issues recently, in fact for about 3 weeks now, with Whatsapp on my Samsung s6 (newest Android version 6.0.1, that is available). So, i often dont get an on screen message that i got a new notification and it`s content, but rather, a message that claims,, There could be new messages available for you"( roughly translated). Often this claim isn´t true at all and their arent even new messages available. Additionally, when i start Whatsapp, it often doesnt download the new messages i got, until i tap on a specific chat. Has anybody the same problem or some advices ?

source: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-eu-facebook-antitrust-idUSKCN18E0LA (+)/= the fine however does not reverse the acquisition FaceBook made, but it's a clear message the the European Commission is sending to all corporations to comply with the EU regulations and to provide correct information why was FaceBook fined: in 2014, with the What'sApp purchase, Facebook informed the Commission that they won't match existing FaceBook identities with WhatsApp's IDs - and yet, two years later, IDs were matched the EU Commission launched an investigation and found that at the time, 2014, FaceBook was already able to match the IDs

Hey Guys, i recived an Android update on my Galaxy s9 this morning. After the update i discoverd a "problem" The Notification Icon ( for example Whatsapp/Twitch) is grey at the Always on display and lockscreen. So you can barely see the icon on the backgroud. The icon used to be green and clearly to see. Now its a blurry, nearly greyed out icon. Someone discovered the same problem and got an fix for that? Already Changed: Background image AOD settings (set to factory) Restarted multiple times Reinstalled Whatsapp Disable/enable Nofitication at all
