The white one is my ssd bought at the exact same time as the black one which is my twin's they're the exactly same model. Should I change mine it says "good" but how much do I trust that it has gone down from 24 to 23 in about 2 weeks this drive is 6 years old. Or is this just a bug on my drive displaying lower wear than what it really is considering my brother has more TBW and less wear. If I were to change there are currently 2 well priced options (same price) in my region which are the 2TB Lexar NM790 or 2TB Mushkin Vortex Redline does anyone have long term experience with any of these because I've heard that the IG5236 in the Vortex Redline has had some problems dying are those problems resolved? Is DRAM-cache really necessary if I game 99% of the time?

I'm going to work at a bus company that has a 28 hour "traffic day" meaning that after midnight (2400 hours) the work schedule goes up to 2800 hours (2 am is 26:00). I have a smart watch (Samsung Gear S3) and I have been looking for a watch face where you could have an 28 hour clock screen (like when you have different time zones displayed at the same time). The time could be counted from 04:00 to 27:59. Does anyone have an idea how to do this? It's just a fun idea I had

Howdy! I am a web developer/agency owner, and I type a lot. For the majority of the last 3 years since I started working for myself, I have used an Apple Magic Keyboard v1 (my work machine is a 2019 16" Intel MBP, waiting to upgrade to M2/M2 Pro), but eventually the connection started getting spotty and it was time to replace it. After quite a bit of shopping for another low profile keyboard that I thought would be a good replacement, I bought a Logitech K780, for a lot of reasons. All those reasons are still good experiences for me, but one thing I did not consider at the time of purchase was ABS plastic vs PBT plastic for the keycaps. And about 6 months later, I have the telltale shiny, slippery feel on my primary keys, with my lesser used keys in pristine condition with the texture the board shipped with. I am a fairly fast and accurate typer (100wpm @ 100% accuracy, 120wpm @ 99% accuracy), so I am well aware of the punishment I am inflicting on these little plastic keys. Yet, my Corsair K70 MK2 RGB gaming keyboard is wearing beautifully after 5+ years of use and minimal shine, and also has ABS plastic keys (haven't replaced those yet, but will after I find a parts-only board to make a repair). So, given my work keyboard is definitely going to see a lot more typing activity than my gaming keyboard, it's obvious that ABS is going to shine up for me every 6 months, and I really dislike the feeling when I'm working. It almost feels greasy, even after wiping it down really well Some additional details that might help anyone that has some suggestions: 1. I don't care about height adjustability, I use little rubber wedges to create a negative tilt on my keyboard, so feet aren't necessary. Many lowpro keyboards don't have them anyways. 2. The K780 has a little tray for devices, which I do use, but isn't strictly needed and definitely far less important to me than the feel of the keys. 3. I'd prefer wireless to keep my desk clean, but I have the option to use a wired keyboard if it checks enough quality boxes 4. I also use a Logitech MX Master 3S in grey and really like the lighter aesthetic it provides -- I have enough black electronics, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to the K780 with its lighter accents. Lighter themed keyboards preferred. 5. Since I work with data pretty frequently, I consider a 10K layout necessary, but I'm not a stickler on 96% vs 100% layouts, and would generally prefer a more compact size to something with a ton of extra deck space. I've looked at a lot of keyboards that I like, but when they meet the aesthetic and wireless capability, I find they have ABS keycaps. I'm hoping someone out there has had the same issue as me and can give me some pointers on finding the right keyboard for my work desk. My Corsair K70 MK2 RGB is still running great, though as I mentioned it needs some repair. The keys feel great on top, but have started popping off because the stems have started breaking. I already have a plan for PBT keycap replacements there, but couldn't find PBT keycap replacements for the Logitech K780, which led me down a road that's landed me here, asking my fellow hardware enthusiasts what do. Oh, I also looked on eBay for a parts-only keyboard to get the keys, but they're sold for $5-6 per key individually and with 33 keys showing shine right now, I'm looking at $165 minimum to replace keys that are just going to wear again in the future even if the replacements I get are 100% perfect. I like this keyboard, but not that much. Thanks!

I have used a Kingston A400 120G SSD for about a year and 4 months as a boot drive(with a few other programs and smaller games that i needed to be faster) and its wear indicator is at 86%. And from what i have read it made me believe it is a pretty significant decrease in this period of time, but i was not too worried because the performance and Spare Blocks indicators are at 100%. ( It has lifetime writes of 9.56 TB with a power on time of 253 days) Should i be a little more worried about this? And is the fact that it is basically most of the time only 8-10% free increasing the wear by a substantial amount?

How do you detect if a card has been used for mining? I've got a decent deal on a couple of cards that I wish to make sure are as described before I buy them.

Hey LinusTechTips Community! I've got a Problem regarding the Voice Control Features for Music Playback on Android Wear. I often use it to quickly start listening to Music of a certain Artist, by saying something like: play [artist]. But when doing this on my Moto 360 it always launches the SoundCloud app and searches for the corresponding Artist there. However, I want this to be done with Google Play Music or the Music app provided by CM11. When using Google Now on my Phone (LG G3 running CM11) I can choose which app should be used for Playback and it always uses my Preset. I have "Music Playback" set to Play Music in the Android Wear Application and reset any default Actions in the app Directory of the Phone Settings. I hope that someone maybe had the same Issue and/or knows a Way around it. Greetings from Germany and I wish you all an awesome (hopefully sunny) Sunday!

Hi guys, since I'm really into cheap smartwatches I decided to post a new one that's coming out. It's the Blueboo Uwatch and should be launching at the end of the month, it'll cost $49.99 and MIGHT run Android Wear, although I doubt it at that price, we'll see. They say it's focused on business and fashion style. Here are some pics: What do you gus think about it?

So I've been reading online that android wear now works with iPhones. This is pretty interesting because it makes so many more watches available to iPhone users. I was wondering if anybody here on the forum has been able to see how they work together??? I'm looking into getting a smartwatch (I have an iPhone 6) but I think the Apple Watch is just overpriced for my needs. Something around the 200-300 range would be ideal for me. I know the next generation Moto 360 is rumored to launch soonish and I'm wondering how well it would work. I've been considering the Pebble Time, but from what I hear the screen is pretty awful, and I don't mind charging every night or so. I usually have a battery pack on me if push comes to shove. What do you guys think???

Does reading from a USB drive write to a computer's storage? I recently purchased a SSD for my laptop and an external hard drive to put movies on. If I watch movies from my external hard drive will data be temporarily stored on/written to my SSD and in turn wear it down? Thanks in advance!

So people of the internet, you kept saying how spending a lot of a smartwatch with no prestige didn't make any sense - here is a Smartwatch that has plenty of prestige behind it. So for 1,400 will you put your money where your mouths were and get this instead? Probably not. 1,400 is encroaching "entry" level luxury watch status, but with your 1,400 you also get FOURTY hours of battery life. Thats right. 40. Not shabby at all eh? Begs the question, how smart will this watch be? Or will it employ a mechanical front with digital screen in the back, so your watch stays as a watch for a lot longer? Who knows. Interesting either way. Curious to see which design they go with. I'm hoping its the Carrera casing, as shown below, since thats a great looking one. http://www.droid-life.com/2015/04/29/tag-heuers-android-wear-watch-will-cost-around-1400-have-40-hour-battery-life/

To Huawei I say, tough shit. Remember the beginnings of Android? When Google gave a lot of freedoms to manufacturers to do whatever they wanted? Yea, lets not ever go back to that clusterfuck because you manufacturers truly have no stinking idea what consumers want or need, so in that way Google locking down Android Wear even more than Android proper is a very good thing. You want the watch experience to be cohesive. You don't want different watches working different ways. Thats stupid. That goes against what a watch should be. Apart from the very, very weird one offs in the watch world, all watches can be picked up and used by anyone since they're all the same. Cut away the flash, its all the same. Google, rightly so IMHO, wants the same experience for Android Wear. Doesn't matter which brand you pick, you're not gonna have a drastically different UI/UX because the manufacturer went off the deep end and added stuff or removed stuff or injected their own bloatware (looking at you Samsung, cause thats exactly what you would do if Google let you fettle with Android Wear, don't even pretend to say otherwise). Make a watch that genuinely looks good and feels good to wear, you'll get all the customers you can handle. Customers, especially normal ones, don't want what you are claiming. And if you want your smart watches to sustain themselves, you'll be marketing them towards the general population and not the tech crowd. Since what the tech crowd wants and needs is so far removed from what Joe Smith wants and needs. http://www.androidauthority.com/huawei-lack-of-freedom-android-wear-595159/

Brilliant news, if at all true. Google should've worked harder and faster on making Wear a platform for both OSs from the start. They could've capitalized on so many customers who would've bought a G Watch R (like me) but couldn't, since there was no support on any level. I do hope they follow through on this. Apple will let themselves die before letting the Watch work on anything else, that doesn't mean Google needs to be the same and close off their products to people who aren't using Android phones. http://www.macrumors.com/2015/03/03/android-wear-app-iphone-ipad/

Its about time another luxury watch company stepped into the game with a smart watch based off a watch that you probably would wear. No offence to everyone else, but your smart watches are several grades of ugly and poor. Tag, since they are basing theirs off the Carrera above, will win by default. And you aren't even going to argue that point so don't even start. This is great news though. A proper watch maker taking their design and someone elses tech to make a watch that you can actually wear without feeling like you have something bulky and "techy" strapped to your wrist. You want smart watches to be accepted by the public? You start selling them like normal watches and let the magic happen on its own. http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/133247-tag-heuer-confirms-google-and-intel-partnerships-for-first-luxury-android-wear-smartwatch-by-end-of-2015 This post has been promoted to an article

So i got a lg g watch earlier this week and was very worried about battery life but it dosent seem that bad. No i dont get more than a day out of it but i am currently ending a day with about 40% battery life. This is with light to medium usage and brightness on 4/6. Does anyone else have one, how is your experience? However on my nexus 5 I am ending the day with about 20% less battery then I was.

So someone managed to get Windows 95 running on a smartwatch, because why not! What do you guys think of this, cool or just plain useless? Source: http://www.theverge.com/2014/10/5/6910791/least-useful-hack-ever-puts-windows-95-on-your-smartwatch

Yesterday I bought myself Samsung 840 evo 120gb ssd. It is a great ssd in my personal opinion, because it doesn't rape your wallet that much. So, I installed windows 8 on it and started to enjoy it. Then I installed samsungs magician software and started to worry about my ssd wearing off... In samsung magician software I have set everything to maximum performance, enabled trim. I was unable to get rid of pagefile, because I only have 4gb or fam and I am a software developer, and those editors use a lot of memory. My main question: is it really something to think about? Is ssd wearing a big issue?
