R9 Nano or Rx 580 2048sp for CS2? I play at 720p. I own both of these already. Just a matter of testing them but I am waiting for parts.

Just built my PC 2 weeks ago and have been having this issue on multiple bios and driver updates. If my pc has been on for more than like 5 minutes before I try to launch a game or if I have closed that game, I get DirectX or Vulkan errors depending on what I try running it with, neither work. I restart my computer and I can launch anything if I do it immediately after restart and it’ll run almost indefinitely (rare crashes). But if I close it and want to launch it again it doesn’t work. Usually something along the lines of DirectX 10 or 11 or 12 is not supported by my graphics card or the driver is broken. Wallpaper engine also crashes after like 10-15 minutes too saying DirectX 10 is broken or whatever. I’ve reinstalled the driver multiple times on multiple versions and it doesn’t fix it. I’ve updated windows 10, didn’t work so I upgraded to 11 which didn’t help and updated that and bios multiple times to no avail. Build specs: Radeon 7900xtx Ryzen 7700x MSI Pro B650p wifi (bios 7D78v175(Beta version) but have tried multiple versions) Gskill flare 32gb ddr5 6000 cl36 Crucial P5 Plus 2TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD Corsair 850watt psu

i had been playing siege for a while but after the Y8S2 update, everytime i start my game, its only showing black screen, and crashes within seconds. i have tried the methods listed below: 1.updating graphics driver 2.reinstalling the game 3.verifying the game files 4.reinstalling direct X there is only one solution that works for me that is, running the game in vulkan mode, but that doesn’t solve the main issue, which is why my game doesn’t work under the default launch option. and before the update everything works just fine.

Hello Linus, LTT employees and community, I am now in search for someone who has a Linux OS and also the Vulkan API properly installed. For some reason I can't get the Vulkan API to work. Probably issues with drivers and hardware. Nevertheless, my universe simulation runs on Windows and MacOS, but on Linux not really. The game starts, then freezes for a moment, but starts anyway to the main menu. Everything fine since here. But if you start the simulation, nothing except text is visible. So I think it has to do with some missing render libraries or something like that. That's why I am in search for someone who has the Vulkan API installed, to test if this is the solution for my problem. I added a short video of my universe simulation to show you how it should look like. If you don't see anything in your browser, right click and download the .mov file. If anybody is interested I will give you a Steam beta key, so you are able to download the Linux build. I summon you Anthony, Overlord of Linux! 2061021125_AHoleInSpace-SmallTrailer(480p24FPS).mov

So, after the release of M1 Pro/Max chips and recent benchmarks, Apple suddenly has a lot of raw power to support AAA games. How do you think Vulkan vs Metal competition is going to pan out? With the new chips, Apple got rid of their old bottlenecks in gaming which are; poor cooling and throttled Intel chips. Which I think was the main reason Apple was so behind with the game industry With M1 chips there is no heat related throttling and we have an absurd amount of GPU power. https://www.anandtech.com/show/17024/apple-m1-max-performance-review From what I understand, from now on, the only bottleneck in letting AAA title game devs adopting MacOS, is Apple itself. What do you think?

Anyone else getting this? It pops up when I start Steam, but only from cold boot (it seems) when i restart the PC or Steam it doesnt pop up again. So far I see no issues , but Im not sure i have any "vulkan" games to test. I did update my BIOS recently, swapped out CPUs , that error didnt happen with a 2200G (which I needed to update the BIOS because of a faulty BIOS from MSI) but now appears to happen with a Ryzen 3600, *although* there were also two Steam "updates" one of which was an "update for an update" and I think thats when the error started to pop up, so i dont think its the BIOS update I did and am just wondering if anyone else getting this error "visual c++ runtime error vulkan driver query not enough space"? Its especially strange because I have all visual c++ runtimes under the sun installed, so I shouldn't get any runtime errors, although it might just be specifically to Steam?

Hello, i'm having this issue with flowframes interpolator so i'm trying to interpolate this video which is 6 seconds long at 30 fps.. and .mp4 format. So i'm using the vulkan version of RIFE so i did a interpolation of 4x. It said it finished and was waiting for encoding to finish but i waited and waited and nothing happened.. So i closed FlowFrames And tried again with same settings, and now when the AI starts my screen goes black for a few seconds and then shows me this error: I had previous success with this program before using vulkan feature ..

Of course, when they said you can run Quake II RTX on a Pascal card, I had to try it. On my 1070Ti (2010mhz core) I barely managed double digit frame rates at 720p when the game first became available alongside consumer Turing cards. Now, with the new Vulkan RT update, I get 30-45 fps with a bunch of goodies turned on and high illumination (still at 720p). Even at low res, it's kinda neat, and now very playable.

Summary Intel's Tom Petersen and Ryan Shrout have given more performance numbers for the anticipated Arc A750 in a video released late yesterday, August 10, 2022. The performance numbers came from as many as 50 game benchmarks using the DirectX 12 and Vulkan APIs. The A750's performance in 1080p and 1440p was compared to that of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. Quotes My thoughts For a "first" GPU this isn't too bad. If priced right, this could be a pretty decent contender for midrange builds. Problem is from many other outlets testing, the Arc A380 performed sub-par with its rivals in games based on the DirectX 11 API. Which still many games use today. Therefore testing in DX12 and Vulkan is really putting the Arc Alchemist GPU at an advantage. Going forward many games might start using these APIs, but if people want to play older games using these Intel video cards, they will have serious performance issues as shown in A380 reviews. Regardless, it seems that the A750 will see gaming performance about the same as NVIDIA's RTX 3060 in the games tested. Although, there are way more than 50 games out there, and how well the card performs in those games is yet to be seen. Nonetheless, it's still reassuring to see that the card is performing well with at least a nice chunk of games. I feel as though if these cards were released one year earlier, they really could have struck gold. It might be too little too late at this point. Despite everything, wait until independent reviewers get ahold of the card to confirm these results as manufacturers' results will put the card in the best light. Also, Intel still has a lot of time to get its driver act together. So, this might be an AMD FineWine Technology situation. The Misconceptions of DirectX 12 and Vulkan
Mira Yurizaki posted a blog entry in Yurizaki's Tech Ramblings
Note: This is a repost since where I had it originally on the forums got buried within a few hours. I spent the last week and some change looking up how DirectX 12 and Vulkan work and how NVIDIA and AMD are handling it. Most of it was that I felt there was a lot of misconception going on with people thinking how the APIs are supposed to work. So here’s what I found out: What does “low-level” API even mean? What is this “asynchronous compute” I keep hearing about? I heard NVIDIA doesn’t have “hardware scheduler”, what’s that about? I heard NVIDIA’s can’t do asynchronous compute Maybe it's just a semantics game Let’s go back to DirectX 12 and Vulkan and talk about some caveats Two more points I want to dump Also you're free to chime in, but I felt like digging into this topic was like walking into a toxic waste land on the hope that there was some gold stashed away in there, and I'm still expecting this. -
Hi, I flight sim a lot, and use X-Plane. The new beta 11.5 is out that supports Vulkan, but I can't get it to work. I posted in the x-plane forum, but it's not exactly the most pro-active, snappy forum to get answers from, so I thought I'd see if anyone here can shed some light. Basically , it ain't working and I just want to confirm that A) Maxwell2 is OK with Vulkan 1.1, and B) Whether I need special drivers. Currently I'm using 445.75 (non DCH). Any wisdom appreciated. Ta, David

I know vulkan is an advanced api for graphics requiring knolage of more than one programming language, and its originally written in c. what language is best to learn first to learn vulkan, asside from open gl? i figured c or c++ but is another language better? if c a free corse that can be recommended? thanks.

Hi, I have a GT 730 and I have a application called Vulkan Runtime Libaries. Do I have Vulkan installed or Not and does it support it? Thanks Sorry if it on the wrong topic

source: https://www.khronos.org/blog/vulkan-multi-gpu-support-not-just-for-windows-10 after GDC, Khronos clarifies the stance on Vulkan multi-GPU support: it still remains at the game developer's whim if they and how will they implement multi-GPU support on their games --- edit https://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/OS-Limitations-Vulkan-Multi-GPU-Support more info from PCPer, it was initially thought that LDA mode was introduced with WDDM2 and W10 and this created another confusion on W10 dependance as it stands out, LDA mode was introduced in WDDM ever since Windows Vista !!!!

6 years... my 2500K is nearly a grandpa... but an awesome one! Slightly OC since I got it and never had any problem. But as my girl needs a stable PC and I was planing to upgrade mine, I think it is time for an all new long lasting gaming machine (woohooo)... Basically I already have a gtx970 with currently no need to upgrade caus I can play all my games for now and my girl doesn't need her PC for gaming in first place - but I am also planing to get a 1070 maybe later this year. So if she will use mine, I want to have a new one that will last as long as possible. What do you guys think? Would you say 4c kaby is enough or go with 4c/8t kaby? Do you think 6c/ht will pay off considering "future" advanced tech like Vulkan and dx12 or is it a too lang way off? OH and: As AMDs Ryzen sounds really nice, you think I should consider one of them or better wait till we know more about them? Most of the time I am playing Videogames (MMO, FPS) and I want to play games like star citizen (IF it will come out before I die) in future with no "ffs my CPU is not strong enough for this sh*t"-moments. Some of my time I use to work with the Adobe Creative Cloud caus I am a graphic designer but I am not planing to cut/edit/render videos or something. Sorry for my bad english, I hope you all know what I mean and please don't kill me for my superficial knowledge^^ Thanks in advice for any help

Hi everyone! I recently updated my video card to an RX 460 and I wanted to test it by playing DOOM. As I always do, I downloaded the Demo before buying. To me it was good, ~45 FPS in Ultra. I was told that enabling Vulkan in this game gives you a major performance boost, so I tested it and... instant crash. After the crash, the game won't even launch, It would always show the crash window. I managed to launch it with "+r_renderapi 0" in launch options, but as soon as I activate Vulkan the game crashes. I have many doubts by this, I've been having some issues with every single device I bought, so I'm afraid it could be a video card issue, but it seems very unlikely, also, I have a crappy PSU but again, as long as my understanding of computers go, it's unlikely to be a hardware issue. Also I'm interested on buying this game, but this issue is holding me back, do you think it's a demo only problem? could the actual game be fixed?. I leave you with my system specs: CPU: AMD A6-3670 (4 cores @ 2.7 Ghz) RAM: 8gb DDR3 MOBO: Asus M1A55-M LX (BIOS version 1103 - 02/24/2012) Graphics Card: ASUS Strix RX 460 4gb (Driver version 17.1.2, updated as of 07/02/2017) OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 And if you're asking for the PSU... it says 600w on the side, but it didn't even come with a power switch, I had to connect the Video Card with a Molex-to-6-pin adapter. Oh, and the latest crash message (after trying to launch with "+r_renderapi 1" wich launchs it in Vulkan): Callstack Function(desc) Line Bytes File Process Address --------------------------- ---- ----- ---- ------- ------- vkWaitForFences() ... + 0x95220fff vulkan-1.dll GetGameSystemInterface() ... + 0x5a7537d5 DOOMx64vk.exe GetGameSystemInterface() ... + 0x5a75fab4 DOOMx64vk.exe GetGameSystemInterface() ... + 0x5a75a971 DOOMx64vk.exe GetGameSystemInterface() ... + 0x5afe9bb7 DOOMx64vk.exe ** UNKNOWN **(** FUNC_PARAM_ERROR **) ... + 0x59b67891 DOOMx64vk.exe GetGameSystemInterface() ... + 0x5b2b472c DOOMx64vk.exe BaseThreadInitThunk() ... + 0xb3ae8364 KERNEL32.DLL RtlUserThreadStart() ... + 0xb40370d1 ntdll.dll Register Info --------------------------- EDI: 0x0000000007E1AC90 ESI: 0x0000000000000000 EAX: 0x000000000274DFC0 EBX: 0x00000000093B0B70 ECX: 0x00000000092FE7C0 EDX: 0x0000000000000001 EIP: 0x00007FFC95220FFF EBP: 0x00000000070963F0 SegCs: 0x0000000000000033 EFlags: 0x0000000000010202 ESP: 0x00000000070962C0 SegSs: 0x000000000000002B Exception Info --------------------------- ExpCode: 0xC0000005 (Access Violation) ExpFlags: 0 ExpAddress: 0x00007FFC95220FFF Build & Runtime Info --------------------------- User: Luca Version: 20160720-180331-purple-razzmatazz File Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM Demo\DOOMx64vk.exe System Time: 2/7/2017 14:41:22 Build String: 20160720-180331-purple-razzmatazz VT File Path: VMTR Override: generated/pagefiles Launch Command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOM Demo\DOOMx64vk.exe" +r_renderAPI -2 Memory Info --------------------------- In Use: 34% MB Physical RAM: 8172 MB Physical Free: 5362 MB Paging File: 11956 MB Paging Free: 7303 MB User Address: 134217728 MB User Free: 134216773 CPU Info --------------------------- Num Packages: 1 Num Cores: 4 Num Logical: 4 CPU ID: Generic CPU MHz: 2697 To sum up, the exception is "0xC0000005 (Access Violation)". source: https://steamcommunity.com/games/223850/announcements/detail/889837210517988628 good news everyone today, Futuremark replaced the deprecated MANTLE API Overhead test with Vulkan Overhead Test in case you didn't knew, MANTLE 'was" a low level graphics API developed by AMD for their Radeon graphics lineup sometime ago, AMD offered all their MANTLE knowledge to the Khronos Group who used it to develop Vulkan, a cross platform GPU vendor agnostic low level graphics API on PC, Vulkan is available for select AMD, nVidia and Intel GPUs 3DMark API Overhead is a tool used to measure the PC's capability to handle draw calls over 3 APIs: DirectX11, DirectX12 and Vulkan ^ as stated in Unity Engine's documentation

Hi, I tried the DOOM Demo since someone told me about it so, I changed the settings a bit and changed the api from OpenGL to Vulkan. OpenGL lagged alot but after DOOM restarted in Vulkan, It freezes when it loads my profile and Task Manager shows it as not Responding? Does the GT 730 support Vulkan? Mine is GK208 which I think is Keplar. And if it does support it then why does DOOM freeze on Vulkan and not OpenGL?
-
What games are we aware of that are being developed with Vulkan ? The performance increase it has given me in Doom has been staggering and I am very interested in other games that may support it. Thanks Everyone.

I discovered some relay weird things while playing Doom and trying out the Vulcan API... I am running a AMD R9 290 as my main GPU (my display is connected to this card and it is doing all my gaming work). But I also have a GTX 780 installed in my PC, because i am using it for folding at home. Now to the issue i am having: Running Doom in OpenGL Mode gives me this reading in game: seems normal and also the MSI afterburner usage Graphs are normal GPU1 is the 290 GPU2 is the 780 Now lets switch to Vulcan. Note: No other changes made. Display still connected to the AMD card. Only change: switched the game to Vulcan (sorry steam screenshots do not work in vulkan) Now its is showing my GPU to be the 780...? Although its not connected to the monitor Also afterburner proves the 780 being the card computing the game: Does anyone have any input or ideas on this? Or know how tho switch back to my 290? I cant believe this is even working.... but for me it looks like the 780 is processing the game and the video somehow gets pushed through the 290 to my monitor... Thanks in advice for any help

NVIDIA has released a new update to GeForce Experience allowing OpenGL and Vulkan games to be optimized, record in game and other features that GeForce Experience brings. The two major games affected will be Minecraft and Doom. The Features have have a catch. They must be using the Driver version 381.65 or it will not work. Other Changes that source states: Added button to open Windows video folder from within the Gallery. Improved overlay performance at first launch. Improved stability and reliability of GeForce Experience overlay. Also addresses bugs associated with Mass Effect: Andromeda and Microsoft Outlook. Fixed case where FPS counter did not work in Shadow Warrior 2 and HDR mode. Fixed case where games running HDR mode would crash when a screenshot was taken. Fixed case where record would affect in-game FPS on Windows RS2 (requires minimum driver version 381.65).
