Hello guys, recently, i have noticed that my 16 TB HDDs (which I cant backup at the moment), make this really strange noise, always when booting up the PC, and sometimes, randomly while its on. When it happens while its on, the file explorer suddenly stops working for a few seconds, doesn't respond, and then, the sound stops, and it starts working again with no problem. This happened with just one HDD a while ago, and then, after I had to change the PSU for another unrelationed problem, the other one started beeping, as well. The only thing that they both have in common, (aside from the brand and storage, two Seagates IronWolfs Pro), its that I noticed that the SATA data cables, dont get completely plugged in the HDDs, both of them are a little loose, even when they have those metal plugs that should make them get stuck when plugged correctly (they are pretty stuck in the MOBO), but not in the HDDs. Maybe that could be a problem of the space of my case, which is a bit small, but the SATA power and data cables arent really the most flexible, and the usual slot which are in cases for the storage isnt always the most comfortable for the cable management, but i would like to know if someone knows what could be causing this noise and the stuttering. I took some videos to catch exactly the type of sounds they produce, and i will share the links to YT, to provide a better understanding. I already did some basic tests with Crystaldisk, which told me that the HDDs were in good shape (they have a little over one year of use). Also, I must clarify that I'm using the Y-splitter in the SATA power cable for the connection to the PSU for both HDDs. PD: Sorry if the question isn't that well redacted, but my english isn't pretty good. PD2: I already created this same thread in Tom's Hardware, and while they gave me good advice, the guy who answered also couldn't diagnose the exact cause of the sound, and while I think it could be an issue of the connection, I don't know any way of truly verifying it. HDD sounds while booting:

Hello everyone, so I recently got a SOYO RX 5700 XT from AliExpress. I knew beforehand it was a gamble, and kinda expected the card to underperform. What I did not expect is a detached substrate stiffener, I found out this morning when trying to replace the thermal paste. My question is can it be fixed / attached ? And How ? GPU works btw, runs a bit hot but works.

I have 2 rams, ram "a" and ram "b". Ram "a" works on all slots of my motherboard but ram "b" doesn't. What is weird is that ram b works on other motherboards. Both are from the same brand and same model. I can't figure out why lmao. It has both always been used for the dual channel of my pc. Has anyone had this problem before? Note: Last thing I did with my pc is change my gpu. Things that I have done: • Switch ram "b" to all 4 ram slots (no effect) • try both ram "a" and ram "b" on the other pc (works as intended) • erase both ram with eraser

Hi, I recently (A month ago or so) Got myself a brand new gaming pc specs are as follow: CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 GPU: AsRock Phantom Gaming 6600XT OC Edition. RAM: 64 Gigs (Corsair accidentally sent me two more sticks LOL) MOBO: MSI PRO B550M-VC WIFI SSD: Samsung Evo 980 1TB I can't exactly pinpoint when the issue started but as it stands I'm having issues with very high CPU usage when I play any game. Games like R6, which used to not give me such a heavy CPU load now take 60 to 70% usage in menus and a steady 90-100% in game. My fps have indeed dropped, not considerably but very much out of nowhere and it makes me fear for the health of my system a little bit. I'm not as tech savvy as I used to be 2 years ago as I kinda distanced myself from the tech world a lil and things have changed a lot. However with the bits of knowledge I still have I checked for things like temps and malware, none of which threw something alarming as even with 100% usage the CPU is staying at about 70ish degrees. One thing that I did notice tho, was the fact that my pc running even not very demanding tasks like writing this post is sitting at around 3.9 to 4 Ghz of frequency which isn't as close to the boost clock but it might be an issue. Could that mean that the CPU is pulling more volts than it should? How should I go about this? Pls help :c

Yesterday I met up with someone to buy a used computer (older pc) was told everything worked fine and there was no issues other than needing a needed a new hard drive. I got home and immediately cleaned it out because it was very dusty. I finished cleaning and went inside to test it and it didn’t power on. Went thru testing different things finally figured out it was a power supply problem. Do y'all think I could have broke the power supply from blowing it out with an air compressor?

Hello LTT community, I'm reaching out for help regarding an Intermittent issue I've been experiencing with my PC. Here are the details of my system: PC Specs: Phanteks Evolv Shift Air CASE Ryzen 1800x CPU AMD 6750xt GPU (with Phantkes riser cable) Deepcool 850 ATX PSU Aorus B450i Mini ITX MOTHERBOARD 8x2 (16GB) DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RAM 2133 500GB NVMe DRIVE Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler No keyboard or mouse Software Information: Windows version: [Latest] GPU Drivers: [Latest] BIOS F61 (2021) The Issue: Sometimes my computer fails to POST. When this occurs, the fans and lights turn on, but there's no display on the screen. However, there are instances when the PC boots and functions normally. Troubleshooting Steps Taken: I've already tried the following solutions without a consistent fix: Replaced PSU (Seasonic 650w previously) Replaced RAM (TeamGroup previously) Replaced GPU (GTX970 previously) Cleared the CMOS BIOS defaults Tried HDMI and DP outputs on GPU (Various cables) Tried running with one stick of RAM Added a "motherboard speaker" (error beeps: LONG SHORT SHORT SHORT, indicating a problem related to the video card - AGP error) Various actions like powering off the PSU, turning the PC on and off, waiting, clearing CMOS, reseating RAM/GPU, and unplugging/plugging DP or HDMI cables. Checked that all PSU cables were properly connected. Ensured GPU and RAM were fully seated. Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler is installed properly. (Temperatures are normal when PC boots) Different wall outlet Fresh Windows install Additional Notes: The motherboard speaker beeps indicate a video card problem, but the issue is intermittent and challenging to pinpoint. Occasionally, the PC boots after powering off the PSU, turning it on and off, waiting, clearing CMOS, reseating RAM, and unplugging/plugging the display cable. (one or a combination of these) Notably, the beeping error does not always prevent the PC from booting. Plugging the DP/HDMI cable after the beeps sometimes causes the PC to boot and function normally. Steps Not Yet Tried: Update to the latest BIOS version for the Aorus B450i Mini ITX motherboard. Consider testing with a CPU with onboard graphics (if available) to eliminate potential GPU-related issues. Thank you in advance for your assistance! Best regards,

My dad wanted to move to ssd for his computer cause his hdd was getting slow and as preparation I put a backup on my gaming pc just in case using minitools backup. Afterwards windows asked to format and I did the format and the files corrupted. after a recovery a ton of files were lost so I went to the backup. now I'm hopefully waiting as I'm putting the backup data back on the hdd and wondering if there's a way to not have it formatted on my dads pc or a way to keep all the data on it and have it visible as it has business files on it (It will be still transferring files for the next hour from the time this is posted)

While i'm gaming on more demanding games my pc crashes, the screen lose signal and audio freezes for a few seconds, then it restart itself, but the signal is still not available, so I need to manualy restart my pc. In the event viewer the only error is the kernel 41, which is a consequence of the crash not the root cause. I've tried to all this thinghs: Update the drivers, reinstall them with DDU, disable iontegrated gpu, install gpu driver version from the mobo manufcturer page. I replaced my PSU and upgraded it from 650w to 850w. Resited everything, tried to use 2 different pcie cables, upgraded bios to the latest version, put everything to default settings. My system crash with or without XMP profile enbled and I have tested them with memtest86 for many hours. Another important thing is that I can't reproduce the crash in stress tests, I've used OCCT, Furmak, 3dmark, cinebench. Olso in somelight weight games it never crashed like Crash Bendicot Insane Trilogy and a Plague Tale. The game where it happen the most is The finals. I'll try downloading another gpu intensive games to check if it crash. And last but not least I've checked all my temps and they seem fine to me. I can I attach you a log of hwmonitor which was active when my pc crashed last time. I don't know if it could be that my gpu is faulty, but a I want to be really sure before sending it to RMA ( I didn't bought it on amazon ) Here's my specs: Windows 11 Home Edition PSU - MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 Alimentatore, 850W 80 Plus Gold Mother Board - AsRock b650 pro rs wifi Amd ryzen 5 7600 CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30 Intel XMP XFX, SPEEDSTER SWFT 319 RAD, RX6800, 16GB Kingston KC3000 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD 2 tb Thermalright PA120 SE ARGB log.CSV

Hello! My first post here, so please forgive if I miss anything critical. Also, I've already gone through a LOT, so this post is quite a long one. Parts list is linked at the end. I've been having issues lately with most games crashing to desktop. I've done a lot of troubleshooting, but I want to see if I've missed anything. I'm pretty certain the issue is a bad GPU, however I've already RMA'd the card and gotten it back from the manufacturer (MSI), and the problem is still there. MSI's RMA process did say they "fixed" the card but the reporting from them seemed suspect to me, and comparing the card to photos I took before sending it in shows nothing was touched physically (tamper stickers are untouched and all screws are turned to the exact same angle as prior to the RMA). The problem: Issues with stability when playing games that rely on the 3D engine. The games will crash to desktop, but beyond that the system continues to run fine (no BSoD, no hang-ups requiring a forced restart, no unexpected shut-downs, no overheating, etc). Several of the games will display a general crash report, others won't. There is always an Event Viewer System error thrown that I outline below. Some days I can play for a couple hours with no issues, most times the games will repeatedly crash within minutes of starting up or as soon as I load into the game from the menu. My system is not using any custom over- or underclocking other than the stock XMP profile in the BIOS. replacing my MSI 3080 with an older EVGA 2080 Super seems to fix the issue HOWEVER, during the RMA process I did have two crashes with the 2080 Super that had the same Event Viewer warnings while playing games. I feel pretty certain that the issue is being caused by the GPU, but I want to make certain before I start fighting with MSI Support again. Could this be caused by the PSU being too small? Could it be a bad PCI-e slot? Could Windows be to blame? Games I've had issues with: Spider-Man Remastered (Steam) The Witcher 3 Next-gen Update, DX12 version (Steam) High on Life (Xbox Game Pass) Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (Steam) Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (Steam) Elden Ring (Steam) Forza Horizon 5 (Xbox Game Pass) Cyberpunk (Steam) Games/situations I do not have issues with: Graveyard Keeper (Steam) Dwarf Fortress (Steam Edition) Heroes of Hammerwatch (Steam) Vampire Survivors (Steam) Any kind of general usage outside of games, such as having many MS Edge tabs open, running Photoshop, watching YouTube videos, etc. Error messages observed in Event Viewer: Error - The description of Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found... (thrown every time a game crashes) Warning - The display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. (less common) Troubleshooting I've attempted since the card has been returned to me by MSI: 3dmark - I've tried running several of the benchmark programs Time Spy - Never successfully loads, throws error "DXGI call IDXGISwapChain::Present failed [0X887A0005]" when transitioning from the loading screen to the test. This happens on both fullscreen and custom windowed. Speed Way - Never successfully loads. Throws error "An error occurred. No result produced." when transitioning from the loading screen to the test. This happens on both fullscreen and custom windowed. Fire Strike Extreme - Has completed several times. It has also failed several times but only on the combined portion of the test. I have sent the reports into the 3Dmark team and they feel that it is a hardware issue. OCCT Prior to the RMA, running the GPU test returns numerous errors within the first minute. Since the RMA I was able to run the test for over an hour twice with no errors found. Running the CPU and Memory tests for prolonged periods of time come back clean (multiple hours used for each test). HCI Memtest I've admittedly not run this for longer than a few hours at a time, but I've maxed out memory usage with no errors reported. Memtest86 I've run the full compliment of tests twice with no issues found. Furmark I've left this one running for a while but have not encountered any artifacting issues. Temperature Monitoring (using HWiNFO64) Temps in the machine are on the high-side of acceptable under prolonged heavy load. The GPU reaches the mid-70's C with very small spikes to around 80 C. CPU stays in the mid-70's as well. Overall system temp stays around 56 C. Ambient room temp is around 20 C. Forced debug mode via the Nvidia Control Panel (Regardless, I don't do any custom over- or underclocking) Used DDU to uninstall and reinstall my graphics drivers Reverted to older compatible graphics drivers Made sure my PC is running in ultimate performance power mode Turned off Windows Hardware Acceleration Updated MoBo BIOS to latest version Swapped the MSI 3080 with an EVGA 2080 Super - this seems to fix the problem, but I did still have two crashes over about 50 hours of playtime while waiting for the 3080 RMA where as the 3080 would crash almost instantly without fail. Additional planned troubleshooting: Clean-installing Win11. The current install is less than a year old, but worth a try. Putting the 3080 into a different system with similar hardware - hopefully I can get this done some time this week, but trying to sync schedules can be rough! My system specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cVNkH2 CPU: i7-12700k GPU: MSI Gaming Z Trio RTX 3080 12GB RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 2x16 DDR4 3200 MoBo: MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk PSU: Super Flower Leadex III Gold 850W

Hi all! I'm here because I'm struggling to diagnose why my PC will fully shutdown randomly while gaming. I was able to find a consistent way to re-create the issue, and it's only with Heaven Extreme w/ Cinebench R23 running at the same time, never with just one. I've attached an HWinfo log of when the crash occurred, as well as a DXDiag print-out incase it helps. I haven't really been able to make heads or tails of the logging numbers, so any help will be greatly appreciated! Hi Folks, I am having issues with my computer no longer appearing to no longer attempt powering on at all, from booting to not posting, varying degrees of lights coming on, to now nothing. My setup is ... Gigabyte B550I Aorus Pro Ryzen 5 3600 Zotac 3060ti 2 sticks of G. Skills DDR3 3600 RAM EVGA 750G2 Supernova modular psu NZXT h210 mini itx case, and their fans and kraken aio cooler. This morning I took out my R5 3600, and put in a brand new R7 5800X3D. I had some disposable money, and my case has stopped me from making meaningful GPU upgrades. So I got a new CPU. After installing, I loaded up a couple of different games, and had no problem. Noticable improvements in BG3 and Starfield. I left Starfield running, and went to the restroom. Came back, and everything was off, except the mobo LEDs. I tried starting it back up with the case power switch, and got nothing. So flipped the psu switch, off and on and tried again. Pressed the case power switch, and only got lights to the RAM sticks, no post, no fans turning on, nothing else. So I turned off the computer, took out a RAM stick, and tried again, and everything turned on, but never posted, just sat there until I gave up and turned it back off from the PSU. Several attempts of the same and it would no longer even power on the fans, or AIO, or PSU. So I unplugged the PSU, and replaced with 5800X3D with the old 3600. Still no power anywhere. I took things apart, thinking it could have fried the PSU, 750W should be plenty but it is old. I tried the paper clip trick, and the fan started no problem. I plugged everything back into the PSU and mobo, and tried to jump the mobo power switch pins, and got nothing. This is leading me to think the issue is my mobo. I get no power delivery from the motherboard, but the PSU seems to work fine without it. Removing RAM, and GPU has not changed behavior since the initial couple attempts to boot. I don't know how it would have died from running a pretty demanding game to this, but can't think of much else. Does anyone have any thoughts or troubleshooting I could do? Thanks!

Ok, so I just completed my build, after having prebuilt’s for years I finally was able to build my own. I have built computers for my friends, and have taken apart a lot of stuff as well. I consider myself knowledgeable when it comes to tech. So have completing my build I had a few minor issues, but I fixed them all, I put in my windows 11 boot drive and got in. Now here comes the issue, I can’t get through the windows 11 setup, I made to the wifi part of the setup and all it says is “Ethernet: Not connected”. I have my ethernet connected, I’m stumped, I’ve tried everything I can think of, I checked driver, but I saw nothing on wifi.

Hey guys, in need of some help, I have exactly identical problems to this post, I have tried all the same troubleshooting steps as he did although the only thing that worked was unplugging literally everything from the mobo and psu except for the 24pin and leaving 1 stick of ram, when it's just that plugged in the light doesn't turn off right away (idk if it posts haven't gotten that far yet) all I'm wondering is what does this even mean? As soon as I plug the 8pin back in the light turns off right after boot... I thought my CPU was for sure dead until this happened oh also this all started after swapping HDDs and pulling GPU to put in another server (I may have forgotten to turn off PSU and to insure all power was out of the system), I would have identical problems with the old mobo. Hence why I've got the bad gut feeling she's toast

Hey everyone! I hope you people are doing well. I have a problem I want to understand and if possible troubleshoot. Google searches has been unfruitful so far. Maybe I don't even know what to search for in the first place. I have a 1080p 60Hz display tablet of 13in that I have been using since 2020 and I use it a lot. Its for work as well as hobby so it is switched on over 15 hours a day, even on weekends. I have these artifacts cropping up, which look like dots. I initially thought it were dead pixels but they change color depending on what's being displayed as you can see. They're pink-ish dots against bright backgrounds and they change to white/grey dots against black or dark backgrounds. It is annoying, ugly and it is spreading. So can anyone tell me what am I looking at here? And if there's a fix for this? I also haven't touched any settings of this tablet other than basic stuff like contrast and brightness. Backlit level has been kept to 70 all these years. The maximum being 100. Other than that, there is no option for overdrive, overclock and stuff like that on this tablet. So I have not done anything I should not outside the manufacturer's recommended method of usage. The touch features on that part of the screen are unaffected. But that again has nothing really to do with the display, that's the pen's technology. But just putting that info out there if anyone can help me Note: It does heat up at the top 15% of the screen, uniformly, full left to right. And there's a vent at the back. The manual and other users on reddit claim this is normal. But coincidentally, it is the exact area where these artifacts are developing. So heating issues? But then again, the below problem looks nothing like the problem that is well known as "screen burn". So what the fish is this?

Hello, I built a new pc a couple of weeks ago so it is only at most 2 weeks old. My pc crashes occasionally just randomly when not streaming but mostly when I stream. I was previously having a blue screen problem but I have not had a blue screen problem in a couple of days so I think I did fix that problem. What happens when it crashes: I will be just playing my games or on YouTube and then all of my displays freeze (4 monitors). The audio will continue to play for about 1 minute before it starts to sound distorted. About 30s-1min after the distortion starts, the music stops. It never goes to a blue screen from what I have seen and I have to manually power it down (I use the front case button). What I have tried: Ran memory diagnostic last week and had a RAM problem. I got that replaced and thought I had fixed it but the problem still persists. Updated all drivers Tried turning off C-state after seeing a Linus video Tried different Ram profile (EXPO 1 vs EXPO 2) I asked microcenter if my PSU is enough and they assured me it is. OS: Windows 10 Pro BIOS: Version 1616 CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 MOBO: ASUS B650-PLUS TUF GAMING WIFI Hard Drives: Samsung 980 Pro Silicon Power Slim S55 120GB RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000 PC5-48000 CL36 PSU: PowerSpec 750 Watt 80 Plus Bronze GPU: ASRock Phantom Gaming D OC Radeon RX 6900 XT 16 GB CASE: Hyte Y40 All parts are under warranty with Microcenter if I need to replace them.

Hello, I tried to upgrade from a 2700X to a Ryzen 7 5700G on my PC. However, when I install the new CPU, nothing happens, the computer doesn't post and the DRAM light is lit and flashes to the CPU light every once and a while for a fraction of a second. Specs: Aorus b450 M motherboard on the F64 bios DDR4-3200 RAM (Geil, GPR432GB3200C16ADC) Ryzen 7 5700G (w/ the Wrath Max cooler that came with the 2700X) Reinstalling the old 2700X results in the computer booting just fine. Here's what I've tried: Resetting CMOS (although I may have done it wrong) Updating BIOS and trying different BIOS versions Waiting 5-10 minutes to see if it'll boot Removing 1 memory stick (leaving 1 left) (still didn't post) Trying another memory slot (didn't post) Removing all memory (didn't post or do anything different from when there is RAM) Going and exchanging the CPU for a new one I don't know what to do now. I don't have access to any other DDR4 ram (only DDR3 which I don't think will work?). Nothing seems to be broken given that I can just reinstall the old Ryzen 7 2700X and the PC will boot without issue. Any suggestions?
