WD one is faster but half storage, the other is slower and double the storage, i like more storage, i already have 1TB HDD and 256 GB boot nvme, but more storage won't hurt anyone, these 2 are pretty much my only options, ik it's kinda weird but where i live it's like this, i want to play lots of games and emulation on my new ssd (the reason l'm getting the ssd) so what would be the better option? The price of these 2 are same for me, i would be happy if anyone can help me! Tnx PS : WD is TLC and Crucial is QLC

Summary In a presentation by TCL, the company seems to have leaked out several next-gen products including AMD's Radeon RX 7700 XT graphics card, Sony PlayStation 5 Pro & new Xbox Series S/X consoles; all of which will be 8K capable, according to the TV manufacturer. Also, according to TCL, Sony and Microsoft could unveil new consoles already next year. Quotes My thoughts My assumption is that because the presentation slide says 2160p/60-120 render, they might possibly be implying they will be using FSR 2.0 to upscale to 8K. Current rumors also have the 7700 XT matching 6900 XT performance, and again while those are rumors; it corresponds to the supposed expectations that TLC predicts with these new consoles' capabilities. All in all if you were actually able to get ahold of an Xbox Series X or PS5, I'm sure you were pleased with its performance being more in line with a PC, and this generational refresh of the consoles seems to continue that trend. I'm wondering if any other specs are going to change on these updated consoles besides the GPU? I recently updated my pc from umix 20.04 which stopped booting to 21.04 and well it seams to work but refresh rate is locked at 30hz in display. The tv is 120hz capable at 4k. How would i set it to 60 or above? I get lines while even scrolling through web pages.

Need help choosing between these ssds: Crucial P3 1TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD - CT1000P3SSD8 Samsung 980 1TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 SSD - MZ-V8V1T0BW I'm choosing these as these are within my budget. Whilst researching, I found conflicting/confusing information about which one is better. Is it true that Crucial uses a QLC while Samsung uses TLC NAND? or am i wrong?
-
Trying to buy an SSD via 6gb not m.2 or mvne Figured that I should buy a 480 GB but then was conflicted between which kind For a moderate gamer and college student, should I grab a budget TLC SSD or opt for the more pricey MLC for an 1100USD Build Budget no more than 150 USD will be adding a 2 TB storage drive as the SSD will be my boot drive. Appreciated if ya'll provide some explanation too... Many Thanks!

http://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/FrH48d,v3fp99/ Why do these two products have a $50 difference in price? Someone said something about TLC vs MLC?

Hey guys I'm looking to buy my first ssd and was wondering which would be a better deal. My budget would be about $110 for it and was looking at two specifically. The Corsair Force LE 2.5" 240GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F240GBLEB , http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-233-950 And the SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-75E250B/AM , http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-147-372 The Corsair one is more budget oriented but the Samsung has a much better warranty I'm not really that knowledgeable when it comes to reads and writes speeds but I plan on using this ssd to put my OS and my most used programs on it. Thanks.

Compared to the king of sata tlc SSDs at the moment, the 850 evo, the 545s performs worse in the light and heavy tests while consuming about the same amount of power. However, if we look at the Destroyer results, we see the 545s performing better than the 850 evo while consuming noticeably less power. Overall, I would probably rate the 545s as comparable in performance to the 850 evo. As well, both drives come with a 5 year warranty, continuing the similarities. The 512gb 545s will be available next week, and it looks like Intel plans on selling it for $179.99. This is the same price the 850 evo 500gb generally goes for, putting the two straight against each other. I personally would probably choose the 545s over the 850 evo purely because of the extra 12gb of space you get. Currently, however, the 850 evo is on sale in some places, including newegg, putting the 545s in a tough place. What are your thoughts?

Does anyone know if this drive: https://www.gigabyte.com/Solid-State-Drive/GIGABYTE-NVMe-SSD-1TB#kf uses QLC or TLC memory? I've search a bit and can't find any information on it. Also do any of you have it? How does it perform? Does it maintain its speed all throughout the drive or does it drop like a rock? I know the Intel 660p drops in performance to 40MB/s once it runs out of its SLC cache.

So a few months ago I got myself the Sabrent Rocket NVME 1TB and was very pleased with it's performance. Out of curiosity, after I freed it up from almost full 80%, I ran a bench today and surprisingly there's a big difference specially in write speeds. Is this normal? Could be that it's run out of dram and needs to purge that first? Might it be related to benching right after freeing up data? Like as if the sectors are not truly free yet for some weird reason? As far as I understand when you remove files or move them it doesn't actually free the sectors but unlocks them for allocation for new data to be written. but it doesn't actually make sense because if it were true you basically get only one time use of 3k speeds up until the point the entire sectors been used once and since then you're limited to only already used "unlocked" sectors at 1k speeds. same logic for dram? Here's the bench of day-one after a fresh OS install, Aug 23rd And here's today

Hello LTT community! since a year I'm thinking about getting an SSD. I'm not planning to upgrade my platform during 2018, so I´ll stick to my ASRock Z97 Pro4, which (to my knowledge) does not fully support Nvme, but PCIe storage via M.2. Currently, I've got a 2TB Seagate SSHD which was okay, but I'm running out of storage and the programs I use frequently take a really long to start, so maybe its time for a fresh install and boot drive. What I use frequently - Image editing software (Affinity Photo & Designer) + image archive (raw, png, ) - Video recording and editing (OBS for recording) - Digital audio workstation (Bitwig Studio 2) + sample & VST library - IDE (Visual Studio 2017) - Office Gaming is a thing for me too, I'm playing mostly open world/RPG stuff, where an SSD makes sense too. What I think I need - fast reading speed for audio production (loading sample libraries & big project files) and image editing (RAW loading, big project files) - durable SSD because I'm moving a lot of data frequently - decent write speed in other words: an all-around solution. What I was thinking about I've got an HDD for dumping all my photos, videos and music, so I could get a 250GB (or 500GB?) SSD for my system and frequently used programs. space calculation But which one? Type - TLC - MLC - Samsung V-NAND - 3D-Nand I know what TLC and MLC are, but these new names for flash-memory architectures are growing faster than my knowledge... Is it just the same thing named differently for better marketing? SATA III - Crucial MX300 (2,5") - Samsung MZ-76E250B/EU 860 EVO (2,5") - WD Blue (2,5") - WD Blue SATA (M.2) PCIe M.2 - WD Black PCIe - Samsung MZ-N6E250BW 860 EVO price is almost irrelevant because they all cost about the same amount of money in Germany. So what do you think is the best one of those? Or maybe you know another affordable (m.2) SSD? So thank you for reading and responding, Leo

I plan on getting a new SSD (most likely in the 500GB range) for games like Battlefield, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, etc due to their longer loading times. I've heard some very worrying things about TLC SSDs. The one thing that really bothers me that I hear a lot is that they typically don't last as long as MLC SSDs. However as long as you're apparently not pushing them to their limits or something their lifespan isn't too bad and can be pretty decent (again from what I've been seeing on a few websites). The main reason I've been looking at them is because they're usually quite a bit cheaper than the MLC drives. If I get an MLC drive it'll probably have to be a lower capacity as the 480/500GB MLC's tend to be about 30+ more dollars more expensive than the 480/500GB TLC's.

Hello! I spent a lot of yesterday attempting to justify spending more for a second SSD (for reasons). I currently run a 240GB Corsair Force 3. I have been using it for about 2.5 years now. The controller is a Sandforce SF-2281 and the NAND is asynchronous MLC flash memory. This drive is still fast enough (general use) and I hope it lasts longer. I am in need of another though. Looking at the Canadian market, what is really the best value? Is a $75 SP550 (TLC, SM controller) that much worse than a $115 Samsung EVO (TLC (3D NAND), Samsung controller)? If I bought right now, I would probably want to take a risk on the Silicon Motion controller of the Sandisk Z400 (MLC NAND) for $85, but man is it ever sluggish. I will gladly trade off some speed/sluggishness for long term reliability (sustained speed over time). Is TLC really that bad? How does the Samsung 850 EVO get away with TLC flash memory in their drive? For reference, the Canadian SSD market (240GB+): http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/parts/internal-hard-drive/#t=0&S=230000,10000000&sort=a10&page=1

i've made alot of topics about getting a ssd in the past now i'm coming to a conclusion on which one to get but there are alot of people saying that the samsung 840 EVO is better than the Samsung 850 EVO keep in mind that i'm getting a 250gb sdd anyways what do you think?

Hello everyone,I'm pretty new to SSD field.I am hearing TLC in Samsung 840 Evo's and Sandisk Ultra II is good choice. What are the benefits of TLC over MLC which a consumer like me can experience ?
-
i'm tihking of getting a SSD but i can't get my mind wrapped around the decision i'm going to make is 1 SSD 250gb better than 2x 120gb SSD? i'll be using 1 SSD for my windows and some applications like skype etc and the other SSD for my games i already have a 1TB WD caviarblack HDD

EDIT: THIS THREAD IS NOT EVEN A PAGE LONG AND I'M ALREADY ANNOYED. WHAT ABOUT THIS TOPIC MAKES IT AN ANDROID VS iOS/APPLE DEBATE? NOTHING. SO KEEP IT OUT OF THE COMMENTS. THIS IS ABOUT THE HARDWARE, NOT THE SOFTWARE. (17:30PM GMT) UPDATE: A link to a 9to5mac.com article about was provided to me by @NickTheNajin that Debunks this Rumour that is gong around. You can visit that article by clicking HERE This article was just published on Technobuffalo, you can find it HERE Here is another article published by BGR - HERE It's no secret that #Bendgate was a major hit for Apple. But they could soon be facing a much bigger problem. Owners of iPhone 6 Plus's, notably the 128GB variant have reported their phone crashing and rebooting occasionally. According the Business Korea, Apple decided to cut costs and decided to use TLC (Triple-Level-Cell) flash rather than traditional MLC (Multi-Level Cell) that they have used in previous versions of their flagship device. This site also mentions that there are known problems with the controller that Apple is using, The same problems have been noted to occur in Samsung SSD's. Direct Quote from Technobuffalo's article: According the Business Korea, Apple may be able to fix this issue with a software update. EDIT: My Question - would this be a firmware update to the controller as I don't think that would be possible through an iOS/iTunes update would it? New Source Info: According to BGR, the SSD's affected are the 840 and 840 EVO drives, NOT the Pro versions. Direct Quote from BGR's article: My Opinion? If this is true, this could cause a whole shit storm for Apple with the amount of devices they shipped. I hope if this is an issue, they can solve it sharp-ish or they will have a huge problem on their hands, not just the phones, but people questioning their reliability in other products.
