Need a laptop for my wife that preferably has usb-c type charging since we have an issue with our kids destroying every other charger type out there. Is there a way to sort by this option on any major sites? Used/refurb. is OK. I have some RAM and might buy a m.2 drive separately. Anything too chunky won't be used, we need it to be good for on an actual lap, possibly sharing room with a kid. =-) Thanks!

wondering if anyone has tried the sata cable in the link? https://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-90-Degree-Low-Profile-Connectors-CP11B-300/dp/B00KTLGDGA i know its just a sata cable but i want something with a small plug to avoid gpu interference but don't wanna waste my money if these are unreliable or poor quality, also thought on using these on a small atx build where space saving is essential?

Old cheap Toshiba is dying and need a replacement. What is best value thin gaming laptop around as a desktop replacement? Preferably as thin and light as possible as I need to bring it around very often. At most 0.9in and 4-5lbs. Mainly using it for coding, gaming and everyday stuff. 14" - 15" with hopefully 1060 but 970m/1050ti are okay. i7 and 16gb ram with at least 1TB hdd or 250gb ssd. I want to try to get a good laptop that can last me at least 5+ years as laptops are pretty expensive, especially in Canada D:

I am really glad that Nvidia announced this just in time for universities to start! Just like mine, I know there are tons of threads on these forums by people looking to strike the balance between gaming laptops and portability and I stumbled upon this while researching for my own laptops. This looks really promising, and I can't wait for the laptops to release. Source - 1 Source - 2

I am looking for an Ultra thin laptop with very long battery life. I would put linux on it and code most of the time. Also, I would want to browse web, watch youtube videos with headphones on, that's about it. No graphic intensive work. I want it on the cheap side (like chrome books) or at least cheaper than the MacBook(Non pro) I will be comparing it to. 13 inch is ideal but don't mind bigger or smaller size if it gives more battery or is cheaper. In summery, at least 12 hrs of battery with medium load and ultra light( as heavy as New MacBook. ).

The thinnest one I've found is the TD-03 Slim from Silverstone - clocking 37 (Radiator and Fan) + 39.5 (Water Block) totaling to 76.5 mm total. The only problem is - I need one that is less than 67mm. I think a great amount of size could be taken off of the water block - but I'm really new to water cooling.

Hi everyone. Today, I, as a person who don't really know much about laptops, will share an output of my wishful thinking process with you. TL;DR: read bold and underlined text only. Story goes like this: Many people including me want a good built thin and light all-rounder machine with a dGPU. As a matter of fact, such a setup will generally include a x700 hq cpu + 10x0 gpu and they will cause overheating in that body easily. Results vary from throttling to short life expectancy. Another problem, most people, don't include me this time , won't even need that much processing power in an expensive package to begin with. A mid-range cpu would be enough for them. They just don't care about FPS or stuff like that; only want to play their games at good settings if not max and expect their game would be playable with those settings. So, a weaker processor could do the trick for them. I know there is 7300hq inside of some laptops. But that one still has a TDP of 45w which means it also causes overheating. Well, obvious solution is upgrading the cooling. But I think there may be another way similar to but not hopefully as bad as Max-Q approach. As you know, Intel will increase core count of the ulv processors. So we will see 4 core low voltage cpu's shortly. Do you think successors of i7 ulv's will have enough horsepower to be exchanged with 7300hq or even 7700hq - which isn't really needed but people inevitably ended up with? 7567u for example, has a great single core performance (4ghz turbo) and it's TDP is around 25w I think. Not so weak, eh? Maybe they make a new convertible or 2in1 with one of the stronger 4 core i7 ulv's and put a 1050-1050Ti 4GB or 1060 inside? 1-2 TB3 port, 8-16 GB RAM and one more empty slot, a good pen, two storage slots and we're good to go. Just wishful thinking. But you never know, maybe they will do it. If one can wait long enough So, what do you think? Could such a processor drive a 1060 without being too much of a bottleneck? And without any overheating if put in today's machines?

Hello, I want to buy a laptop which I can bring to school. It needs to have a good screen, be built well (metal if possible), and have decent specs which can actually run some games. I am willing to buy it used on Craigslist or eBay. I am Canadian so hoping the price will be under 800 USD (1000CAD). Thanks for suggestions!

Anybody know what the slimmest AIO cooler is? Not necessarily the slimmest rad + fan, because I can just buy a slim fan seperately. Thinnest AIO Radiator i guess is what im asking. Thoughts?

I was looking for a thin 14-15 inch thin laptop with decent specs, a good battery life, solid build quality, (something that feels premium) and a good display. Now my price range is $1800 CAD max. I was considering the razer blade stealth or the dell XPS 15. it doesn't have to be touch but if it was ,that would be great.I tried looking all over the internet but i couldn't find anything besides these two laptops Any help would be much appreciated.

I was wondering what people thought my best option for a photo editing laptop for travelling would be? I only use Lightroom CC usually and have a PC if I need to do any PS work. Ideally it would be under £700 but I could push slightly higher. Any advice is much appreciated.

Asking for my sister: Her laptop is too "bulky" and she wants a thin laptop/tablet w/attachable keyboard for school. No more than ~$1000 (CAD). She said her friend recommended the "Macbooks of Microsoft": Surface Pro devices. I guess a touch screen is important too. I'm not very knowledgeable about these types of devices, so I appreciate your help. What would be the best deal she can get for a device like this?

Hello there, I have recently found the need for a good laptop for school under about 1200 USD. The laptop should preferably be thin and light with minimum to no gamer accents, aggressive styling etc. But a bit of it is ok. I will be using it for ms office along with light video editing(nothing too much) and I will be playing relatively demanding games like overwatch, csgo, fortnite etc and have figured out that I will require at least 4gb of VRAM so like 1050 and higher and atlest 4 physical cpu cores. On amazon, there are a fair bit of options but almost all of them are thick and are flashy red etc.(most from msi and asus) Any help is appreciated thank you. ?

Hi guys! New member here. I just started college after a 6 year gap year, and I’m in the market for some new PC hardware. The last laptop I purchased was a Lenovo Ideapad (I think U530?) w/ an i7 and a Nvidia card in 2015, and it’s trucked along since then, still capable of doing basic work online and some really light gaming (as in, SIMs on low). However, my poor laptop has cracks, missing keys, and is in two pieces, held together with duct tape.. making it more of a shitty desktop than a laptop. So, I’m posting in here for recommendations on a light, portable laptop with enough power to handle daily tasks and media consumption while I’m at school. I’ll be doing a lot of typing on it, so a decent keyboard would be nice, and in a perfect world it would be an aesthetically pleasing setup as well (ex. thin bezels, not clunky in appearance). I’m gonna want to hold onto it for awhile as well, so having hardware that will last 3-5 years would be ideal. I don’t care about touch screens or it being a 2 in 1, as I have an iPad that handles that stuff. My max budget for it would be around $700, as I’m also looking into building a gaming PC for myself (I’ll be making a post in the proper place about that shortly). So yeah, let me know what you guys think! Thanks!!

Hello everyone! I am looking for a laptop to buy in the next few days. My main needs are the following, very good battery life. weight, good processor, Nvidia graphics ( working with render engine that require a cuda card to open my files, even if i dont render). at least 16gb RAM and a good ssd. I will use this laptop for notes taking, media consumption and work ( i do 3d and 2d animations ). This is not my only computer (I have a workstation), i dont expect to render much 3d with it, but I will model, animate and set scenes. i mainly wants to be able to work at a client, work in a cafe and on the go, as i do travel quiet a lot). I was hesitating between Lenovo X1 extreme, XPS 15 and Msi prestige. but the lenovo battery doesnt seem great. Xps seems to have some throttling and some build issues. So here I am, going with the Prestige 15"+ 1650. when I discovered there was a 14" version with either the same GPU or a mx250. Would it be a mistake to go with the 14"? does it heats up too much? and if so, is going for a MX250 puts up less heat while still giving me a bit of power? Is the 14" crippled by its single fan system? should i stick to the 15" version even if it is bigger? if someone has used both or one of them I would be super interested to see what they think about it. thanks a lot!

Games I will be playing, CS:GO Rainbow 6 Siege (Mainly) Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 GTA 5 ---------------------- I really need to know cause this is becoming a hassle really quickly and I have been saving up abit recently and with Christmas coming around soon it will help me with costs for other stuff (Xbox One S for my grandmas while I'm there and a Elgato.) Thank you so much it means alot!

Hi guys So I've decided its time to invest in a gaming laptop, and the obvious choice for an all-rounder is the razor blade 15. I've begun my search but have struggled to find many deals on this laptop in the UK. Just wondering if anyone on here knows of a great place to pick one up at a great price to avoid the dreaded buyers remorse. Appreciate your help and advice! Thanks!

Btw I'm located in New Zealand and this Laptop is priced about $1472 in NZ currency ($984 in US). Laptops in my country atm are bery expensive tbh. Most thin and light gaming laptops i like are lieke around $2600 rip :C. Anyway is this laptop good? and any suggestions?

So I've got my little mini ITX pfsense setup here and the 80mm x 15mm exhaust fan died, so I bought a cheap replacement from eBay, that one died, so I bought a Silenx brand fan and that died too. When I say 'died' I mean they got loud, started spinning slowly, and the motor got hot. In other words the bearings failed. I've currently got a thermistor controlled 92mm fan from an old Dell BTX setup bolted and taped to the case from the outside which looks pretty jank, but it is working well. Are slim 80mm fans just all cheap junk, is it the vertical mounting position with the fan hub hanging down, am I just getting crappy fans, has it all been bad luck? Find out today on....wait no. I need some suggestions on a reliable long life 80x15 3 pin fan, I'd like all the moving parts to be contained inside the case someday. What's been working reliably for you all? I don't mind spending if I know it's going to last, but I don't wan to spend till I know it's going to last.
