I have one 1Gbe port on my motherboard and I also have a USB 3.0 to Gbe Ethernet Adapter. Would I theoretically be able to use Link Aggregation with an appropriate network switch to get 2Gbps throughput? Thanks

I am getting a new NAS that supports Link Aggregation or teaming. I am getting a new switch the NETGEAR ProSAFE JGS524E 24-Port switch that supports Link Aggregation and I need a 2 port gigabit NIC that will work with my windows 10 computer so I can get fast transfer rates. I was wondering if this NIC will work with windows 10. If this NIC does not work or there is a better cheaper one I would appreciate a link. Thanks for your time. Hey guys, I just added a 4 port Intel PRO /1000 PT network card to my server. The host machine is running windows server 2012. I want to run multiple VM's. Currently I have a CCTV server running on windows Server which is quite heavy on bandwidth. How should I configure the NIC Teaming for best performance and balance? In addition to the Intel 4 port NIC, my motherboard Ethernet port is also connected. I have a DrayTek router (enterprise grade) so I was wanting to setup VLAN tagging on the VM's (if that's best practice)?

I am struggling lately to manage all my data. i am a photographer who takes a lot of image sequence's (time-lapse) and video that takes a lot of space. Currently i have everything on my pc and NAS (synology) for backup reasons. But all my storage runs out quickly so i have decided to step up my game of data management. i am planning to get a big synology NAS and get all my footage off my pc and edit directly on my NAS. But i need a lot off bandwidth so i have decided to get some better network gear Router: Tp-link TL-ER6120 (i have some ddos attacks lately and this was needed to fix that) Switch: Tp-link TL-SG3424 AP: ubiquity AP AC PRO now comes all off my questions because im not 100% sure off all this will work: 1. wil 4x cat6 connection with lacp be enough to get 400 MB/s read/write speeds ? (NAS should be able to give 450MB/s write and 415MB/s read) 2. will a Intel PRO/1000 PT Quad Port Adapter work with osx ? 3. will this whole setup reliable ? 4. will 4 cat6 sftp cables give interference with each-other? also there will be a power cable against it and audio cable maybe any recommendations what can be better ? how i wanna do it: http://prntscr.com/f39hy6 any help is greatly appreciated! thanks

I'm having some trouble with setting up nic teaming. I have a windows server that has 2 gigabit ports teamed to make a 2gbps link which is all fine. The issue is on the Windows 10 side, I have a 4 port HP NC354T nic and I can't seem to work out how to make all four ports one 4gbps link like I have on the Windows server 2012 r2 server Can anyone help me to make the nic team on Windows 10? As the new PowerShell way is not supported any longer

Hi everyone, im running a FreeNAS server (i5-2400, 14gb ram, 4x500gb raidz1, 3x2tb raid z2, old lsi sas hba) which i want to acces from my desktop (i7-6700k, 16gb ram, 960 evo) with more than gigabit speeds. I purchased some 2 port intel nics of ebay and have a mangaed 8 port tp-linkTL-SG2008 switch even though with an other windows machine i can use the bandwith i was not able to set freenas up to do so. And I was wondering wether there is an option to get better speeds with my hardware. Help is greatly appreciated

Hi Guys, So I was able to enable teaming of multiple NIC cards by typing in the following command in Windows PowerShell. This command was implemented on a Windows 10 Pro 1809 Build (x64bit). The command I used was as follows: New-NetSwitchTeam -Name "SwitchTeam01" -TeamMembers "Ethernet","Ethernet 2", "Ethernet 3" Where I replaced "SwitchTeam01" with a name that refers to the teaming of multiple NIC cards and replaced: "Ethernet", "Ethernet 2" etc... with the name of my NIC's as seen on "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections". Previously I tried the following commands: New-NetLbfoTeam -Name "Team1" -TeamMembers "NIC1","NIC2" New-NetLbfoTeam -Name "Team1" -TeamMembers "NIC1","NIC2" -TeamingMode LACP But wasn't able to implement the NIC teaming within the cards as I would constantly receive the following error: New-NetLbfoTeam : The LBFO feature is not currently enabled, or LBFO is not supported on this SKU. At line:1 char:1 + New-NetLbfoTeam + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (MSFT_NetLbfoTeam:root/StandardCimv2/MSFT_NetLbfoTeam) [New-NetLbfoTeam], CimException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : MI RESULT 1,New-NetLbfoTeam Form this I understood that LBFO is not supported in "Windows 10 SKU" but only in "Windows Server". Another way to enable NIC Teaming could be to use the "Intel Network Connections Application" and enable Teaming. Unfortunately since I do not have a Intel Network Card this option wast possible for me to test out. Since I have a Realteck NIC I first uninstalled the drivers and then reinstalled the NIC's with the latest drivers form Realteck. Next I checked out the Network Properties of my NIC cards and made sure that "Realtek Teaming Protocol Driver (NDIS 6.40)" was installed. After this was done I executed the above mentioned command in Power Shell which in turn resulted in the creation of my Teamed NIC Adapter to be visible in "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections". Finally the end result of this was that I was able to create on "Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver" Adapter that was able to connect to all my other NIC cards at the same time and hence enabling me to have a solid 3Gb/s internet connection. * Do note that I have removed my DNS name and IPv4 & IPv6 address as I do not want to make that info public but if you carry out the same steps as mentioned above you should end up with the same result. Also note that the box marked in "red" show the network connection speed of the network adapter. This newly created network adapter can then be used for your VM in Hyper-V also. This will also enable for you to have one static IP address for all your NIC's. Although If you'd prefer to have different static IP addresses for each NIC then its better that you do not follow the above mentioned steps as you will not be able to set individual IP-addressees for each card.

Hi today i downloaded few files from steam and i realized that steam took the full ability of my 100mbps port after few minutes i thought about a little idea what if i was able to manage which lan port provided internet to which program that would be really comfortable and usable on everyday use maybe some one know is there an option for this or a program because i think that theoretically its possible ( My mobo have 2 lan ports ) ("I have alot of knowledge ")

Hello, I don't believe it has been stated yet so here it is. For those that may need such information, VLAN and ANS NIC Teaming are unsupported by Intel NIC on Windows 10. I have lost many hours trying to get it working for nothing. Just posting so it won't happen to others. Cheers

Hi Guys, Looking for an easy software solution to bond 2 gigabit ports together on a media server PC to allow for extra bandwidth when backing up at the same time as streaming. Is there anyway to do this that doesn't involve hardware changes? And would bridging the connections in windows be of any use? thanks

All you Asus X99 Deluxe owners are you successful in setting up NIC teaming using the Intel I218V and an I211 NICs? or perhaps can anyone suggest a different method of setting up a Static Link Aggregation Team? So, I've currently got my three computers connected via a TP-Link SG2008. It's a great switch, especially for the price I paid, but at this point I was thinking of upgrading to add addition gigabit connections between all systems. Now, I know that it technically won't give me 6Gbps if I have 6 gigabit Ethernet cables going from all devices, but how much could I feasibly get assuming that I am not bottlenecked by drive speed? This is just a lower cost alternative to going to 10Gb, which is just not "consumer" ready yet. I would definitely prefer it, but 3 NICs + a switch would take a pretty penny that I don't want/have to spend. I understand the true design of LACP was to increase throughput for multiple devices, which is the main reason I am upgrading. (Multiple Plex streams, plus back ups from my two main desktops to the NAS (third computer), and all of my media is located on the NAS.) However, I would like to see increased speeds as well since I will be adding a 8TB Raid 0 array to it as well. Which feasibly could put me at over 300MBps, but I was just wondering if that's something that is something that is feasibly attainable via 4Gb/6GB interconnection. If I need to explain further what I'm trying to do, please let me know.

i've planned to add another gigabit lancard on my home server. in theory i'm getting 5gbps network from it. but the question is, am i need a smart switch for running the link aggregation/teaming? or i can just use a unmanaged switch... currently i'm running FreeNAS 9.3 (up2date version) thank you.

Hey guys so I have an ASRock x79 Extreme 11, as some of you may know it supports teaming. I have been trying to get the teaming to work but to no avail, I am no great networker by any stretch of the imagination. i can set up the teams and all but the router can't seem to know what to do with the connection because it will not give me an internet connection. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Any suggestions? I have a Linksys E3200 router and full admin access.

I recently started using an 8 port netgear gigabit switch to connect various pc's together for better file transfer speeds, mainly to my storage server. Now gigabit is fast compared to wireless N, i get around 70-112MB/s when moving certain files between a client pc and server. Can i set up my server to utilise 2 gigabit cables to increase bandwidth? eg i have to client computers transferring files from my server and because a single gigabit line peaks out at 110 ish MB/s that would divide between the 2 computers to give 55ish MB/s. So by adding a second gigabit port i could in theory double the data rates that my server can put out to the network. I realise that there will be limitations with the server hardware. Also i am not an expert with networks.

I have pretty decent knowledge of home networking hardware, but my experience with commercial hardware is pretty limited. I have a dual-ethernet motherboad with an Intel I217-V and an Intel I211 network adapter. The Intel teaming wizard shows that my hardware supports: Adapter Fault Tolerance Adaptive Load Balancing Static Link Aggregation IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic Link Aggregation Switch Fault Tolerance I would like to team the two 10 mbps ethernet connections in my dorm room to use the full bandwidth I have available, not to create a redundant fault tolerant connection. So far all I have tried to do is connect both of them directly to my motherboard and create a team, with no luck. I realize I'm pretty clueless when it comes to setting this up right, all I know is that nothing works directly from the board. The dorm network is also using spanning tree, in what form I don't know. Each connection also has a distinct external IP address, for whatever that's worth. Can someone point me in the right direction for setting this up properly? I currently run a few homemade servers and I've experimented with building my own routers and running pfSense in the past, so needing additional hardware or doing some in-depth configuration doesn't scare me. I'm planning to build a NAS later on in the year, but the problem is that the Nic on my PC can only support up to 100mbps. If I were to install a second NIC (TP-Link) on, would I get 200mbps?
