In my mind, it is trying to predict how long rendering the next frame will take, then delays starting the task. I am rather curious as to how RTSS can reduce latency by so much, compared with alternatives like just VSync I would expect that for a scenario with 1% lows of 120FPS+, that enforcing a frame cap of 120FPS would actually have higher latency than Scanline Sync 120Hz. Can anyone with the technical knowledge on this chime in, or perhaps just anyone who is also curious?

Hello, I was looking on the forum (and other forums) for a similar post, but didn't find anything similar to my case. I will start with the context, then my idea and then my question. Currently I have around 30 smart devices working in my flat (lights, stores, temperature sensors, etc) most of them are a mish-mash of Zigbee devices that I centralize on a single hub and then control through Tuya's Smart Life app. Plus a handful of wifi devices (humidifier, nest speakers, vacuum cleaner, etc). I centralize everything via Google Home. I'm often adding new stuff to make the house smarter, but I'm limited Smart Life's and Google Home's automations, and well, I'm not too comfortable about talking to a Chinese/Google server every time I want to turn my lights on. Also, I automatically backup my family's phones with Resilio Sync on an old laptop with windows 10 which stays on all the time. The computer also stores our old pictures (even some scans from before the digital era), and has a physical copy of our Dropbox and Google Drives (a few dozen gb) with important document scans. All these are important and are stored on the internal HDD, which is backed up by windows every night into one external HDDs (poor man's Raid xD). There's another external HDD with a collection of movies and music that I acquired before 2010 by less than legal means (the video quality is poor, and most of it is on streaming now), so I don't really mind losing them beyond some nostalgia from my broke student years. To access the media on our phones and TV, the computer also runs a local Jellyfin server. The HDD's are currently at about half capacity, but since I'm just storing new pictures and short videos, I don't think I need much more for now. As you may have understood by now, I would like to transition from Smart Life into Home Assistant (to have more powerful automations plus having everything local...). Also, I'd like to turn my hacky Resilio+Windows backup solution into a proper NAS server. Finally, we don't use Jellyfin much, but it wouldn't hurt to digitize all the physical media I currently (and legally) own and have access to it whenever and wherever I want. I know that you can have all that in a single machine, using the magic of Linux and dockers and such, and I've been checking online for how-to's. The problem is that basically every forum says something different, crapping on whatever solution is proposed elsewhere and saying that you'll lose your precious memories or that the proposed hardware is either not good enough, or too good for whatever anything somebody wants to do (my conclusion this far is that I either need a raspberry-pi, or a $2k investment on second hand server hardware...). So I would like to know if people here have something similar at their place and if they have recommendations for somebody trying to follow those steps. Which OS you decided to use and why? Is there's a newby-friendly solution you'd recommend? Do you have everything tucked in one machine or you have dedicated machines for everything? Or I'm good for now and I should just get a home Assistant Green? I think my old pile of junk (AKA, the laptop) is handling its two current tasks like a champ, and I'm sure it'll handle Home Assistant well, so I would like to use it as the guinea pig for this experiment. I could spend a few dozen bucks on hardware or software licences, but I would like to learn before investing on a permanent solution... Also, I'm all for giving old machines as much life as possible, so if I can keep using the laptop for something, I will. The specs of the laptop are: an i7 2630 (quad core/2GHz), 16gb of ddr3 memory, 512gb internal SSD, 1tb internal HDD + 2x 1tb external HDDs (USB 3), a Nvidia GT555M with a 1gbps ethernet connection. My specs are: intermediate coding skills (mostly python), a beginner's knowledge of Linux and CLI (I've been using it at work for about a month now) and almost zero knowledge about networking. I'm not afraid of learning new stuff, but I can't currently devote hundreds of hours of my life to learn a new skill. Thank you so much for reading this far and thank you for your recommendations as well :)

When you get a new iPhone, you can just put it beside the old iPhone and choose the option “Transfer directly” to send over all your apps, their app data, your messages, call history, email accounts, etc. I just bought my first iPad, and instead of having to set it up as new from the ground up, can I transfer all of my iPhone data to the iPad to get some things set up automatically (like all mail accounts and system preferences would be nice, just as an example).

Hey guys, I'm a first-year student in software engineering and I just found out about this feature when I was rummaging through all the unexplored territory in windows. I found this when I right-clicked on the windows logo and saw Mobility Center which I never heard of before. Anybody who had experience of using it or now how to set up this feature, please help me.

Hi hope this is in the correct forum type. I have 3 projectors with 3 different videos that I want to play at the same time. I have 1 projector on the garage roof, 1 inside the house which is rear projecting on a white curtain and 1 projector projecting the 3 pumpkins you see on Halloween. All my videos are the same length, so when they repeat they won't be out of sync when looping. But the trouble is, I cannot be in 3 places at once with remote controls for each projector. I've tried with mobile phones with 3 people, but that like a 1s to 2s or even 3s delay. I don't mind spending [some] money for something that will help with 3 simultaneous videos being played at the same time. Pro stuff is too expensive for what I need it for. All I can think of is 3 machines with extremely long HMDI cables and pressing 3 button at the same time... but I don't think HMDI leads work at about 10+m's do they. I also don't mind doing crazy jank stuff that might work... any suggestions are welcome. I have at my disposal: Full Suite of Adobe CC, ethernet cables, switches, 3 computers (PC and 2 x MAC), 3 projectors (HDMI, USB 2.0 and 3 inputs. Thank you in advance.

My friend got his new computer but he cannot make the panel leds the same colors as the fans. The case is a Rise Mode Galaxy glass (not the audio one) and the fans are all Rise mode Smart RGB(6 fans in total). He got all fans and the case leds connected to the Rise mode fan hub but for some reason they dont light up the right colors. He has tried using AuraSync, iCue and other fan-controlling softwares and it always turn out the same, blue fans case green, green fans case blue, and it is always two colors switched. The frontal panel leds can also switch colors by pressing the reset button on the top of the case. What should he do to actually solve this problem?

I am trying to replicate a concept idea for my IT internal exam. I have always wanted to run a server on my local pc throughout my home network only. What would happen is that I would upload files on the server through my computer, such as images or videos, and when I connect my phone or another computer to my internet, it automatically connects to the server and downloads all that has been uploaded onto that folder from the server preferably without human interference. What do I need? I was suggested the WAMP application by my teacher and am currently learning SQL to get to use it but that's only one problem. It's quite advanced and at this point I really need some guidance. Are there more suitable applications for this? Is there a more efficient way for me to run this without learning php (which I am 99% sure would need if I use WAMP)?

Hi guys, I'm needing a bit of advice for a solution to continuously sync files from an unraid server to my PC's as well as other family members. Essentially OneDrive but it syncs to my server I'm looking at the reselio sync (formerly bittorrent sync) to do it, but happy to look at others. Thanks!

Hi guys, I have a problem with which I still get stuck after a few weeks: When I want to shut down the PC, personal files are synchronized with the NAS via PureSync. If this takes too long (more than a minute) Windows does not shut down but ends up in the logon screen. I would like to prevent this and switch off the login screen for good, so that even if the synchronization takes a long time, Windows shuts down afterwards. So far I have tried to solve this problem via the user account control: Likewise via the group guidelines: And through a self-created value in the registry: To clarify, here is a video on which you can see exactly what I mean: >>>Problem description as Youtube video<<< I hope you can help me. The goal is that no matter how long PureSync (or any other app) delays the shutdown, Windows will continue to "wait" until all apps are ready to be closed and then shut down. Thank you for your time and have a nice day Martin

Is there a way to sync the RGB around desk with the RGB of computer system? (By using ARGB Strips which is used inside the CPU)
-
I'm experimenting with making my own custom case... my motherboard has no RGB headers... however I have two devices that are RGB; my USB keyboard, and my MSI RTX 3060 Ti Gaming Z Trio. I have free RGB Control software that detects my keyboard and graphics card as having RGB capability and thus I can sync them. Is there an RGB controller that can be detected via USB (plug and play) that I can use to control RGB strips through the software I have? I plan to make the front panel USB ports internal and I figure if there is such a device, that would be perfect.

Never have I had to stumble upon this problem eh? I have quite a bit of RGB that are all compatible with Aura Sync. I also plan on purchasing the ASUS GT501 computer case along with the EK AIO Elite 360m. I've been hunting around Amazon, Newegg, YouTube, and other places and I have found almost nothing. I say almost because I found a few, but apparently people had issues with them especially their systems not turning on because of it. With all this RGB, is there a decent RGB Hub that I could use? I appreciate it.

I have begun setting up a new rig and logged into Chrome with my main account. Nothing is syncing and it is really annoying. Chrome has always synced between my old PC and my MacBook, but for some reason it can't with this new PC - I've tried reinstalling, clearing everything, etc. Any suggestions?

Hello friends, I've recently needed to start using an Android phone to test some stuff I'm developing on at work. I'm having trouble getting it setup in a few areas. My biggest pain point is that I want to sign into the Chrome browser with a different user than the device account. What I have: Chrome user: Account A Device account: Account A What I want: Chrome user: Account B Device account: Account A How can this be done? On iOS it's painless to select or change you Chrome browser sync account, but on Android I just can't seem to make it work. I'm "Signed In" to both accounts, but when I try to change users in Chrome it just punts me out to the "Accounts" page in "Settings".

So, like many others with a qnap NAS, all my files got encrypted by deadbolt attack. before the attack to protect the important parts of my data i built an automatic sync(with qsync) between the NAS and 2 computers. that was very comfortable since any change in one of the computers would auto-sync to the nas and the 2nd computer. so I innocently thought that I was protected from anything. if something happen to the nas or the computers I have 2 more backups. but that were deadbolt rocked my world. when it attacked the nas the automatic sync had automatically synced the encrypted files to the 2 computers... destroying my backups... so now after a long time of recovery (i managed in some ways to recover some data) I'm thinking about how to step up now. how do I sync my systems so that won't happen again. will I have to do a manual sync each time? my nas doesn't have a RAID since i don't have much space. (would that even helped? or would the files on the raid would also be encrypted). how do you sync between your systems? worth to note that I work on the 2 computers and would like that files on them will be up to date. Thanks for the advice! My device: Qnap TS - 228A

Hi everyone. I just bought Nvidia GTX 1650 from MSI, the one without the power pin. Thanks to @RONOTHAN##for the recommendation. However, i have this old monitor that still use VGA. I use HDMI to VGA adapter which works fine. But i am now facing screen tearing/input lag issues. Not really a big deal but sometimes its noticeable. Obviously my monitor doesn't support any kind of free/g-sync technology to address the issue. I've been living under a rock for years, and as i recalled, Nvidia has a cheap solution called fast-sync which can be used with any monitor. Is that still the best solution or is there something better? because i don't really have the budget for a new monitor especially G-sync compatible one. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I use a preamble file with my .tex documents using \include{preamble.tex} in my main file. Since, \include does not support global path, I have to make multiple copies of the preamble.tex file in locations of different main .tex files. Also, it is easier to send any tex source to others this way, I simply send the folder/ keep it in the cloud. However, when I want to modify the preamble.tex file, say add a new package or a new macro, I have to painstakingly go through all the copies and change them accordingly. Is there a way I can link the copies such that if one of them gets updated all of them do? I use windows btw. Thanks for the help in advance.

Im trying to sync unity projects, image libraries, documents, etc across multiple devices and make them available online for sharing etc, but I think I need a better solution. My cache file is over 2GB just from syncing once. It's not even trying anymore. OneDrive has said it's been processing 144 changes for the last 3+ hours. Ive tried paring down on file count, but I'm nowhere near the recommended < 300000. Are there alternatives to OneDrive for syncing large libraries with 2M+ objects and preferably more than 1TB?

I have two types of RGB fans on my setup. Three of them came with my case with Thermaltake view 23 with a controller. I am including the pictures below. With it there is a cable attached 4 pin 12V ARGB head, I believe which I can attach with my motherboard 12V ARGB head and will be able to sync the ARGB lights form software. Now there I have another pair of fan which is RGB 5V. Which I have already attached with my Motherboard. These two fans RGB is working fine also I can manage to sync the RGB lights from software. Now My problem is I am not able to manage the lights which came with the case. If I wanna change the color of those fane's light I have to manually press a physical button on my case every time. My motherboard has both ARGB (12 V X 2) and RGB (5V X 1) heads. Will I be able to sync the lights all of them together? If so then please please help me out. Mothereboard : ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI)

What are the "best" modern alternatives to SyncToy out there today? My task is very simple: I want to run a folder to folder sync operation at the the end of every day to back up data from my local drive to an external drive. Doesn't have to be automatic. I just want a solid, dependable, trustworthy application in the vein of SyncToy. I would use that but it doesn't look to me like there is a version for Windows 10. Thanks!

Hi everybody, Recently, I've been visiting a forum for a video game called World of Tanks. But today, when I visited the website, I saw redirective advertisements and those ads that says "Someone wants to send you a message" ad on that forums. I knew it wasn't the forum because no video game developers or companies would put such advertisements on the website. It was strange so I had to ensure that it wasn't the website. To do that I got on my laptop that was only logged onto my other private account with sync off mainly because I barely use this laptop. Additionally, I asked my girlfriend to check the website and she didn't see any advertisements. But I wasn't sure if it was really my computer since I didn't install anything or downloaded anything at all. I may sound very overly-confident and arrogant but I do certainly know a bit about computers and encountered a lot of different malwares. I went on facebook and the redirective advertisement (otrwaram.com) would initiate whenever I click anywhere on the website. I tried to inspect element of how it got there but a right click would do the same. All the advertisements I mentioned began to pop up again. At this point, I knew something was injecting adware to my chrome. So, I just decided to check if it's just chrome to ensure it's just browser or some content settings or even cookies. However, when I used my microsoft edge to visit the same site, I had the same issue. I knew it was an adware. From my experiences, I just ran multiple adware removals and scans from different software companies. Malwarebytes, Bitdefender, ESET, all that you could think of. Only ESET Online Scanning Tool picked up two which took couple of hours and I thought that was it. I quarantined it and went back and realized the adware was still there. I got so tired of it and decided to reinstall my windows. After I reinstalled my windows using a USB, I got onto microsoft edge as soon as possible and tested the forum (forum.worldoftanks.eu) and nothing popped up. Well, I thought it was over. I reinstalled chrome, and first thing I did was check with chrome if that ad was still there. Brand new fresh chrome, didn't have an issue. I logged into my account and turned on sync since I wanted my bookmark and once I was finished and wanted to check for the last time, it was back. Now I knew where it was coming from but I wasn't sure. I logged onto my laptop again that didn't have my infected chrome account synced and decided to try the website. No ads. I used my mobile phone to test it, and there was no signs of redirective ads or pop-up or new tabs. So I realized it was my main google account that was infected. It was 4am in the morning, I couldn't get this sorted. I was stupid and I decided to plug in my USB to my computer (that was infected) and and reinstalled a new windows without even deleting/formatting my drive and there were two windows installed on a single drive. I ran the test again (going to the forums right after install) and the ads popped up. Realizing that there were two windows installed, I decided to properly install windows by deleting pre-existing windows and putting on only a single copy of windows on my PC. While it was installing, I doubted that the malware/virus would go into my USB assuming that it runs whenever I ran any browsers. When I installed again (only a single copy on the SSD) and ran the test again, the ad was there. I assume the adware got onto my USB or something. As I write this, I am just too tired to do anything and I reach out for help. I've thought of how it might not be an adware and my ISP having issues or something but I doubt it since my laptop was on the same wifi as my PC. I understand that this is very long and detailed, but detailed analysis deemed necessary to solve this issue. I would appreciate all the serious replies and helps. Sincerely,

Hey guys, i got myself an entry 144hz monitor (this one: Sentey MS-2401), i have an nvidia gtx 980 from zotac connected through Display Port. My question is, this monitor is freesync ready and g-sync compatible, i've seen it work in a few reviews that are available, but the g-sync option doesn't appear on my nvidia control panel, and as far as i now it should be working with no problem, any ideas? i've updated the drivers, used DDU to clean install them again and it still doesn't appear there.
