I'm currently in university studying Computer Science. My region allows those with Bachelors to teach in public education (after a two year licensing program after university) for those with technical degrees. My plan is to become an educator in my community which is a bit on the rougher side but still lovely. I've lately been utilizing Microsoft Copilot to aid in my studies. It will create large problem breakdowns for me in subjects I'm struggling in without needing to nag and wait for the professor or search over forums across several web pages which may include contradictory or misleading information. While not perfect it does an overall great job and while I utilize it 9/10 for pure productivity aids, sometimes if tired I've caught myself slipping and just tossing the answer in (I know I'm cheating myself when I do this). This got me thinking, this is going to be a HUGE problem soon isn't it? Its already made some splashes, but like if these language models become so sophisticated we can't tell genuine from generated, how will teachers of the future be expected to teach students? In an ironic twist the same silicon which allowed online schooling seems to be making it obsolete due to the need to guarantee or at least attempt to guarantee no cheating. Students will need to be actively observed while completing ALL assignments. On the bright side this could spell the end of homework as there will be no point in sending assignments home with students if you can't determine what is genuine or generated on a student's assignment.

Microsoft is offering Office 365 for FREE for students with a valid .edu email address. If you currently own a subscription, you may consider cancelling it and using the EDU version, saving some dough. Note: this is a completely legal and supported way to get MS Office. Learn more here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office/default.aspx If you don't have a .edu address, OpenOffice is a great free alternative (it's also cross platform and open source). I don''t know if there is a time limit for your license... I would assume it's for as long as you are in school and have a .edu address. And I think it works across multiple computers as long as you sign in with the same .edu address you signed up for the program with.

Greetings LTT community, My name is Chris and I've been developing a laptop concept (admittedly slowly). The main idea is for a truly portable laptop with desktop parts, that doesn't break the bank and can be transported by plane (as carry-on luggage) just like you would a normal laptop. General Specs 1. It should also have a large screen and as the maximum size permitted as carry-on, legaly, is around 23-24 inches in a 16:9 type (not ultrawide). LINK 2. It should have external power brick(s) as a regular internal power supply sets off alarms at an airport. I have experienced this with my Silverstone SFF 450W. 3. Desktop components. ITX motherboard and any GPU. At the moment my favorite motherboard is THIS on account of it being powered externally 4. Maybe the screen could lift to be on eye level as this is a major complaint with laptops. 5. Weight under 10kg, Volume under 10L. Pricing (assumptions) I can see this laptop being priced similarly to what it might cost you to get the same components in a desktop. We are being told that a laptop with a GTX1060 will cost $1300. I'd like to imagine a $1000 best value for money where there's an i5, 1060, and an IPS screen, simples! Users I expect users to be students traveling to and from University/College, workers like myself who have had to travel and need a serious PC that they can upgrade and repair easily and cheaply. Problems! LVDS: The connection between an itx LVDS (like on thin-ITX) and the screen panel will be a problem as I don't think the LVDS operates when a dicreet card is connected. In that case it gets more complex and the laptop might have to include the PCB for the screen, which is then powered externally or via USB-C?, and connected to the Graphics card instead of the LVDS. Thin or Thick?: In the above renders I was considering a thin-ITX, and the GPU having a displaced/parallel heatsink to bring the thickness down which would look great. Now I'm considering the thicker option which could accommodate a ITX with low profile cooler and a normal double slot GPU which would make upgrading easier for users. So.... I'm here on these forums looking for people who are interested in building this little beast. I'm looking to engineer the chassis and then 3D print a prototype. Thanks for reading and here's an image that sums up this project and how I feel this product segment doesn't exist. A product between those two and their respective PC's.

Not sure whether to post this on Deal section. It seemed like a news to me. So, I'm posting this on News section. Now students who are living in US can get a free XBOX One [old bigger one, not "S"] if you purchase Surface Pro 4. Basically, they're getting rid of old stocks. I can say. Source: Engadget.

So google is heading to bangladesh to promote the potential of the internet,an educational program aimed at teaching key digital skills to more than half a million students also these students will have access to tutors and the students involved in the project will be able to get hands-on with a number of internet-connected Android devices. Google tells us that the hardware will be entry-level devices from Symphony, like the $70 Xplorer W65i. There’s also a Google+ community for the project, where students can exchange ideas, and access more information. This is true even if they have any long term evil plans but the advantages still out grows any behind the scene plans,so i quote Also another quote i had to add It’s true that the more people who use the internet or carry mobile phones is good for Google’s business — but, even still, initiatives like this are resource and time-intensive, and Google deserves credit for getting out there and trying to make a difference. What i think about this as a fellow bangladeshi (though i hardly know anything about it) This is definitely great and improvement, bangladesh is both way back on the digital side and the internet side, this will definitely be a push to a way people think/know about the internet Source : TechCrunch I used few sentence from the article so credit goes to Jon Russell

We've all heard about Casinos and certain universities accepting bitcoin,Now a major player has entered into the crypto currency game , but its not accepting, but rather giving out Bitcoins to its Students for free. Brand new news surrounding Bitcoins emerged, as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is experimenting with the cryptocurrency, MIT officials are now offering their new undergrads upto 100$ in bitcoin money as a part of a project they're developing. given they're not accepting any currencies as of now, but its a project on work/devolopment. the project is working under "MIT Bitcoin club" the goal of the project is to create a small community of bitcoin users who then use it to create a small crypto coin economy and experiment with benifits and cons of this non-government backed currency as weather it will trend or sustain the economy for a certain amount of time. (courtesy:yahoo.com) Current project manager Jeremy Rubin (sophmore/Left side of the picture above) and Dan Elitzer (MBA candidate/president of MIT BTC Club) raised 500,000$ from alumni and ofcourse from bitcoin community to fund this project, the plan is to expand the economy from the small community to the whole university , it's a "hit or miss" as the project devolopers know the risks underlying the murky crypto currency and its trust value, Project devolopers are saying that they will be doing the bitcoin exchange in a secure fashion. (yeah, like that'll work) , one of the goal is to explore the benifits crypto currency has on the society., as time progresses several units and area stores will be made within the campus community where students can trade bitcoins for products/services, thus expanding the community to a larger base. sources: Post your comments and rants down below and dont forget to rate this thread, this is my first time posting a topic on this thread , so Criticism (bad & good) and epic rants are welcome, Thanks for reading so far, here have a cookie a ninja always tread lightly

It is not that rare to use video games as a teaching medium. For example, in Taiwan, a teacher used Starcraft 2 as samples and practical runs for students of his teaching on the Art of War. Now Rovio, creator of Angry Birds, is in in collaboration with a Chinese firm called 123 Education Development and the University of Helsinki, to develop a curriculum concept called "Angry Birds Playground" to kindergarten-aged students. This concept will first be used in an early childhood learning centre in Shanghai. According to Rovio, this concept will: -teach kids about topics including language, math, music, and art -encouraging both physical and social education -access to branded games, books, toys, and books -along with a "five-string instrument" and an "interactive whiteboard." http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/16/4737424/angry-birds-themed-curriculum-coming-to-chinese-classrooms

I'm a senior at a high school in Hawaii, and for my Senior Project I've been contracted for a business class to create a webspace where students can create an "online store" for their makeshift businesses. I have already tried to use a linux web server, but there were many issues with that and me and my tech coordinator have settled on Mountain Lion Server. We've thought about using Apple's wikis as the space for this project, but I want to know if anyone out there knows of a better option. My tech has also suggested Wordpress. Any ideas?

Hello Everybody! Not new to the forums, but one still one of my first posts. Me and a friend are currently planning to make a custom PC for a national competition known as SkillsUSA. We were entered in our computer technician class at our high school career center and we entered the computer modification contest. We are not noobs to any computer terminology so by all means, go all out! Our contest consists of any computer modifications that mostly consist of a completley custom case such as a computer inside a microwave, piano, motorcycle, radio, etc. We have our components all planned out and are planning to spend almost $2000 on a gaming centric build with a full size ATX motherboard and a last generation i5 3570k and a SLI configuration. We have an idea of a custom desk with visible components similar to this-http://www.damngeeky.com/2012/06/21/2449/integrated-computer-desk-completely-visible-interiors-fine-woodwork.html Any and all comments are welcome. Any other ideas that could be intresting? Or any suggestions and tips if you agree with our idea? Thanks!

Just a reminder to any Australian students graduating this year (2012) or next year, you can grab a whole bunch of software for free from http://nsw.dec.onthehub.com. Instructions on how to redeem are in this PDF: http://www.khhs.nsw.edu.au/enews/Sept2012/2012_Grad_SOE_Student_Transfer_of_Ownership.pdf. Total worth of the copy's I received comes to approximately AUD$3535.4. Wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up on, all content is however digital download only so a lot of you will need to watch your bandwidth caps.

For large corporate businesses there is something called MSDN. This is a subscription based service from microsoft. My dad has it and you can literally download anything by microsoft. Even MS-DOS. The problem with this is that it is really expensive ($12,000 a year). But there is Dreamspark for students. I don't think many people know about it but it is really good. If your University, College etc. pays a smaller fee all of their students can download loads of really useful stuff including Windows7. Even if your school etc. does not sign up you can still download a few other things for free. Just search Dreamspark to see if you are eligible. And no there not paying me to tell you this(Although if they want to I do not object, you too EA. Sponsor me)
