Well, some of them at least. My RX 470 has about run its course. I'm pretty sure it will struggle mightily trying to reach 60 fps in this game, because it already is now. The massive install size that's expected is the reason why I always tell people to go no lower than a 2TB storage device. Microsoft Flight Simulator Has a Massive 150GB Install:

Yesterday I found an extremely helpful app to remember my specs on google play. It's basically a digital spec sheet with an additional section for peripherals and account names. Maybe someone else find it helpful too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=berlin.jrt.myrig

So let me first start with the fact that I know absolutely nothing about the specifications of sound, so I'm hoping you guys here can help me out. :} I recently purchased a Creative Sound Blaster E5 DAC/AMP to replace 'razer surround', and was wondering what headphones would sound better when used with the E5. Of course I'd be using the wired cable with the QC 35. Specs for the ATH M50X: Driver Diameter 45 mm Magnet Neodymium Voice Coil CCAW (Copper-clad aluminum wire) Frequency Response 15 - 28,000 Hz Maximum Input Power 1,600 mW at 1 kHz Sensitivity 99 dB Impedance 38 ohms I couldn't find any listed specifications for the Bose QC35, but hopefully this chart will make sense to some of you? https://www.innerfidelity.com/images/BoseQuietComfort35WiredActive.pdf Sorry for being so ignorant about this topic; I'm planning on learning more about sound once I finish learning about computer components. Then I'll be able to go from an asker to an answerer! Thanks. :}

I'm trying to assemble my first computer. I don't need a powerful GPU (I practically don't play games) BUT I need a good amount of cores/multi threading (multiple programs opened). I realize that Ryzen 5 2400G is the best option for me (cheap and powerful enough for at least 4/5 years). Looking for information about what I need to acquire for the best possible performance I realize the that there is a "System Memory Specification: DDR4-2933 dual-channel" (is the same for most Ryzen 3/5/7) But in this page https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/ryzen_5/2400g#Memory_controller, in the memory configuration part, it changes depending on the motherboard (dual channel) and the numbers of ram slots used: Single Rank 2 of 2 DDR4-2933 2 of 4 DDR4-2933 4 of 4 DDR4-2133 Double Rank 2 of 2 DDR4-2667 2 of 4 DDR4-2400 4 of 4 DDR4-1866 So here are the questions: 1) What does "DDR4-2933 dual-channel" really means? That if I buy DDR4-3000 or faster I would not be using them in their full potential? Because i read in some forums that buying DDR4-3200 improves the speed of the system. Is that true or is a "placebo effect"? 2)I know that the CAS latency is important too, and the best way to get "the real" speed of the RAM is dividing the speed/CAS. I found out a cheap ram that runs 2400/10=240 against a 2933/14=209.5 or even a 3000/14=214.3. According to the specification, are you telling me that it won't be able to "squeeze" the 3000 one but it will be able with the 2400 one? How does that makes sense? 3)According to the previous table, does that mean the best speed of the ram would be 2133 if i use all the slots? Then doesn't make sense to buy anything faster than 2133. I'm not gonna use all the slots right now but i plan to expand ram in the future (16 GB to begin with and later 32GB or maybe even 64GB) I really would appreciate your help trying to understand this stuff.

Hello, This Gigabyte power supply has 5 PCI-e slots, correct? Including slots for CPU. If yes, then why does Gigabyte's specifications say it has 6 slots? Here is a screenshot.

Chalenge for Linus: Build a PC for DaVinci Resolve 15
MonPoulet posted a topic in General Discussion
Hello Linus & Linus Team, I have a challenge for you. Your Mission: Help and explain to editors (like me) how to build a Generic PC for real-time Color Correction and editing 4k (DCI or UHD) video inside DaVinci Resolve 15 Studio! I mean the best combinations of motherboard/CPU/RAM/Nvidia Card. We handle the rest of the components. Budget: Optimized! ( I mean not over 7000 €) Constraints: Read the DaVinci Resolve 15 Recommendations (see the file included), especially chapter "Generics PC" starting page 17 and jump after page 36, Should be a Generic PC with Window 10, SSD Raid 0 or M.2 Raid 0, or U.2 Raid 0 hard drives, Use of 2 (two) Nvidia CUDA graphic cards, like M4000, Titan, K6000, etc... Thunderbolt 3 connectors for external video hard drives (mandatory). Discussion (most important): Apparently, the Specs inside the DaVinci Resolve 15 are a bit outdated, regarding certain guys on the Internet. As I have not your knowledge, I am asking to God "Linus" to have a look at this. The recommendations for a generic PC page 36, start with: an Asus X299 Deluxe Mother Board, Intel-X series Processor on LGA 2066 Socket, 64 Gb minimum of Ram. or an X399 AORUS Gaming 7 with 1950X AMR Ryzen 16 core, 64Bg Ram Here come difficulties for me: DaVinci Resolve is not good when dealing with hi-res video. It's okay when you start a timeline, but the software is lost when you do some Color Corrections and try to play the sequence at 24/25/30 frame per seconds. They talk page 17-18, about 44 lanes (?), the use of PCI 16x, etc. How can we handle those specs? Is the last Intel i9 7900 enough for this? Is there really an incompatibility between AMD processor and the Nvidia CUDA GPU? What is the best combination of RAM/processor? I like the idea to have a RAID of SSD or M/U.2 cards. What is the best way to do that, with the motherboard you have chosen? Conclusion: We can find some expensive solutions there and there, but I will be glad to have your opinion on this "technical" configuration, as you are a Guru and a reference for us. Pay attention: Resolve 15 free version has some restrictions regarding the Resolve 15 Studio ($299). Best regards, Marc André Paris, France. DaVinci_Resolve_15_Configuration_Guide.pdf- 2 replies

Hey guys, Need your suggestion before buying a new gfx card. My current PC configuration is, Cpu- Intel core 2 duo E7300 Motherboad- Intel G31 Ram- 4gb ddr2 Monitor-19inch Current gfx- Nvidia 610 Power- 450w I am having the following cards in mind since they are within my budget. Nvidia gtx 750ti Amd 7770 Amd r7 250 Amd r7 240 Amd r7 260x Amd r7 360 I would like to know if my specs would affect the performance of the card I'll be buying. I know that the cards are pretty new compared to my CPU and MB and that I would love to upgrade them too, but on a tight budget. Any suggestions from the list of cards or the compatible ones for my current spec that will have the least amount of bottleneck would be helpful.

I'm wondering if I can get some insight on a basic, hopefully <$1000, pc build primarily used for streaming games, even from a console. Call of Duty primarily. Although I would use for other random tasks, streaming would be the most demanding. Obviously GPU type/VRAM I need help with. Cpu, Ssd, HD, motherboard, air/liquid cooling help is appreciated. I intend on using a ~600 watt power supply and 16gb RAM, and a case i can figure out. Thanks beforehand for the help

So I've been planning a build for a while now (My first one), and it's come down to choosing the case. Here are the parts I've chosen: CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo Motherboard: ASrock FM2A88X PRO3+ ATX GPU: Sapphire R9 280X Vapor X Tri-X PSU: CM 750W Bronze RAM: Patriot Signature 8GB (2x4) 1600 DDR3 Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM HDD Case (ones I got my eyes on): Azza Sirius / Apevia Sniper X2 I was simply wondering if the parts I chose would fit inside of those cases, I'm mostly concerned about the Graphics card and CPU Cooler. I wanted to make sure the Graphics card will not hit the drive bays at the front, considering it's a 308mm long card, and make sure the CPU cooler won't be too tall off of the motherboard to get the side door on. Also feel free to give me any other sort of feedback on my build. Oh, and while I remember, will these cases be able to fit another of that same graphics card for crossfire later on? Thanks everyone!

I've heard Linus say it again and again that there's no use of checking specifications to compare Graphics Cards, is this completely true? Rumours may be rumours but I've people saying that that checking the memory-bus of a Graphics card is often a good way to compare them. Can anyone clear me on this topic please?

Hello Everyone, I currently have a PC with a Cooler Master HAF Stacker 935 Case (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-STACKER-stacked-Modular/dp/B00FP34KZI#productDetails). I'm not currently using the top compartment of the case and am wanting to set up a relatively cheap server for playing games such as Minecraft/GMOD etc. I'm not very experienced with server specs so I don't really know what I should buy so if you guys could offer some suggestions that'd be great. The case is Mini ITX. I have a budget of about £300 and it doesn't need to be that good of a server because only 3 or 4 people will be using it at any one time. Thanks!

New machine for Adobe Photoshop: Need spec advice
Vitalius posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I'm building a computer for someone who will be using Adobe Creative Suite tools regularly (though not all the time). Photoshop & Illustrator will probably be the most used of the CS programs. The images won't be huge. I have no experience with Adobe and their system requirements, so I thought I'd ask what the most important specs are for this use case? Their current machine has an AMD A4-5600K APU & 4GB of 1333 DDR3 RAM. I'm pretty sure that's going to be horrible to work on. I know "Lots of RAM" and "preferably fast RAM", but what CPU power would make this acceptable rather than painful to deal with? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. @Slick @Whiskers I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. It's kinda planning, but ... eh. -
What specifications on a tablet would you consider to be ideal? Let's get this going guys. State the specs and how you would use it. All specs should be within reason please, no titans or watercooling loops. I'll start. core i3, full size usb port, usb charging, ips panel, mostly metal back, windows 8, front facing speakers, detachable physical keyboard that acts as a cover (much like the one on the Microsoft Surface) I would use it as a laptop replacement to do word processing and run simple programs I use at school. Also, I would stream movies from my home server to it, not to mention browse the web with it.

Want specs for a PC with same power as PS4 / Xbox 1
JaredB posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I have a friend who is planning to buy a new console and wants me to get one too, but I am in the middle of building a high end gaming pc, and I don't want to buy a new console, but my friend doesn't want to buy a gaming PC because he is convinced that he will have to spend over 1000$. I want to prove to him that he can buy a PC that would be just as good (if not better) than a new console for around 600$. I don't think you could find a good pre-built computer for 600$, but a custom built one would probably work. I'm not all that good at determining the price-to-value of PC parts, or which older pc parts are good, since I'm new to PC building, so if someone could point me to an existing page with more info, or just give me specs for parts to build a 600$ish PC that's just as good or better than an Xbox1 or PS4, then that would also be appreciated. Thank You.- 14 replies

Can someone help meh please, I have been gathering components i think fit my needs which are games like BF4 on high settings, editing/rendering videos. I am quite confident in this build but would want someone to oversee and give recommendations on what could be improved - I definitely want the Case, Psu, Cpu and GPu. but I'm not still not quite sure if this is fine because i don't want to buy the components and wait like 2 weeks to get a replacement because one of the comments isn't sufficient. I am VERY impatient, lol. But if you could just give me your opinion that would be great, thanks. Also I'm not sure about the MoBo. i want a motherboard with WiFi and is still good under £150, Thanks. PC Specs - Case - Corsair 760t - £140 MoBo - Asus Z97 Pro (WiFi AC) - £120 CPU - Intel i5 4960k - 179 GPU - GTX 960 4GB - £200 PSU- Seasonic Platinum 660XP 660w - £120 RAM - Corsair Vengence 2133 DDR3 - £64 CPU Cooler - Corsair H110 - £105 Storage - Samsung EVO 250GB SSD £84 - 1TB HDD £40 Operating System - Windows 64Bit - £70 Optical Drive - £20 - £1142
