Hi everyone, hope you are all having a good day! I am looking for some advice on what I should do regarding potentially renting a new server and reconciling an existing one I already have. My reconciliation plan however means I am going to be treading into territory I am not so familar with. I will try to keep this brief as best as I can while hopefully providing the full picture of my thoughts anyway. I want as much feedback so if my idea is stupid or if there are other ways I can go about tackling it please let me know! So I currently have a cloud Linux VPS which comes with Plesk preinstalled as a bundle deal. I pay £28.80 a month for this service and I don't get the full value of this setup, the spec for this is kinda overkill for my use case. This server spec is 6v cores from an Intel Xeon Gold 5120, 12GB RAM, and 240GB storage. I only use 5% of the CPU, 1.8GB of RAM, and 40GB (most of this is probably system files) of storage which means a lot is left on the table. The reason for this spec is a whole other story but we move on. I also occasionally rent shared game servers such as Minecraft, Valheim, Palworld, and others but this averages about £15 when I do this. I don't normally have multiple of these at a time so I am constantly back and forth with setup etc. I'm probably a host's worst nightmare because of my indecisiveness. So I roughly end up paying around £43.80 a month in total. My plan/idea is to do away with the above and get a more powerful dedicated Linux server to combine my two use cases and since I will have full control I can turn game servers on and off as I please without canceling and buying new games servers so I will also save money. I was going to go with a Hetzner server because I've used them before for past projects and I know they have some good pricing and good deals on Plesk License prices too. However, these servers have always been Windows as I don't know much about Linux. So the two options I narrowed it down to anyway were to go for either (prices converted from Euros to Pounds): AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 64GB RAM, 512 GB SSD + €11.76 Plesk License = £53.84 Intel Core i5-13500, 64GB RAM, 512 GB SSD + €11.76 Plesk License = £55.07 What I need help with is: Would it be wise to run Plesk and Pterodactyl together on these server options? (I want to install Pterodactyl to manage the game server-side) Would you recommend this solution to someone who has 0 Linux knowledge but is willing to learn? Which CPU would be better for my use case? The i5 has a higher CPU Mark score than the Ryzen 5 but I know that doesn't account for everything. I picked their Falkenstein (Germany) location but that does add some cost. Do you think I could get away with the server location being in Helsinki (Finland)? Is there a better solution to this? I'm open to ideas.

Don't know where to post this but "Troubleshooting" seems the most relevant to my "issue"... Some Context.... I'm trying to do some live streaming on my PC but it's way to underpowered and I don't have the money to buy a fully spec'd out PC. What should I "upgrade" about my PC? Should I Buy a AMD A10 6800k (supports the same socket and is apparently better than what I currently have) and upgrade my ram? Should I buy a External GPU housing and buy a GPU? BTW Gaming is secondary but I do game on PC often. Thanks for the help!

This post is followed up by: my old post Experienced Price Checker for 980ti SLI Hybird I own a Titian XP, but know nothing about Graphic cards, I want to talk like a pro to a girl I like and to impress her (she only knows how to play game at high setting) , and she was interested in these two used 980ti sli hybird and crying about how lag her pc is on AAA titles. USED sli ONE Used sli TWO Used sli Three Used sli Four. Sorry for making you to click those ebay links. Is evga the best gpu maker in the market? Because I saw a lot of used or new Evga cards are at higher price. I also did little research on overclocking 980ti, is 1400 or more a good overclocking point? How far can 980ti to be overlocked in Hybird? Please let me know anything comes in your hand interms of GPU, keep it simple plsss. Grab Her by the GPU Thank you for helping .

So i have been tasked with speccing a PC for VR purposes to go onto my fleet of hire machines, being a LTT viewer this is simply a chance to be a kid in a toyshop and fill a mid-tower with like £5000 worth of gear. Being a hire machine, it will pay for itself within 2 or 3 hires so money really is no object for this thing. My first thoughts are as follows. Ryzen 1800x or 6900K Nvme boot, maybe RAID 0 RAID 1 SSD array for local storage GTX 1080ti SLI 32GB DDR4 this machine may also need an SDI 12G input/output, is SLI possible on top of a capture card in terms of PCIE lanes ? im sure the 6900k can feed all those lanes but havent really heard much about the number of lanes on Ryzen. feel free to add any ludicrous ideas to this build.

I'm building my dad a low end gaming rig for the living room. He plays Call of Duty every day after work, so I know he likes to game. I started playing Path of Exile (Which borrows heavily from Diablo II) and I could see that shimmer of "Wow this is amazing" that I used to see when he played Diablo II. So I started building him a rig. I'm broke as shit, but had a Mobo, PSU, and a GPU to start with, so that cut my costs in half basically. I'm seriously not looking for any record breaking performances out of this rig, but I want him to be able to play some games comfortably. More indie games and popular games really. This is the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yrKLYr CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $28.00) CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Alpine 64 GT 25.6 CFM CPU Cooler (Purchased For $9.00) Motherboard: MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard (Purchased For $0.00) Memory: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (Purchased For $18.00) Storage: Seagate Pipeline HD 500GB 3.5" 5900RPM Internal Hard Drive (Purchased For $22.00) Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB Video Card (Purchased For $0.00) Case: Xion XON-350_BK ATX Mid Tower Case ($23.98 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Raidmax XT 500W ATX Power Supply (Purchased For $0.00) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit (Purchased For $0.00) Keyboard: Logitech Wireless Combo MK270 Wireless Standard Keyboard w/Optical Mouse ($22.13 @ Newegg) Total: $123.11 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available I got the CPU cooler for dirt cheap, and I don't plan on overclocking it at all. The only slight difference is I got 1333 RAM (The 1600 above is wrong) for compatability reasons because I didn't have the MOBO with me and it's an older one and I think you have to overclock to get the higher RAM speeds. I already had the parts that are listed as free, and the PSU is even unopened. So for the preliminary list I have: Path of Exile War Thunder CSGO Rocket League Diablo II LOL Heroes of the Storm The total cost of this will be like 30 bucks because there's a lot of F2P games in there. Any other ideas for must have games? Sorry if this is the wrong place. (Also side question:) In keeping with the budget spirit of this build, what should I upgrade next? I don't mean a total system overhaul, I mean just a part or two to change. I think my dad really misses me since I left for college and I wan't to make him feel like we can bond over something.

Yesterday I found an extremely helpful app to remember my specs on google play. It's basically a digital spec sheet with an additional section for peripherals and account names. Maybe someone else find it helpful too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=berlin.jrt.myrig

Hello! I need help on recommendations for Blender. My build budget is 3000$ CAD. I am gonna use Blender for 3D modeling and animations. I was thinking of a Vega 64 (Non-LC) and a i7-8700k. I am looking for help on advice on my build, to get the best performance possible within my budget. I do not want any error’s when I work on these 2 things and want respectable rendering times. Additionally, I want it to perform good, without any possible lag. Thanks!

I'm looking into building my own DIY NAS for the house. I only have experience with PCs so I'm not sure what type of spec I should be looking for. I'm after something relatively flat with a 1TB SSD for shared storage then 6-7TB HDD capacity across several HDDs in Raid 1 for regular backup of the PCs in the house. This would be 6x 2TB HDDs and 2x 1TB HDD so I can keep the data from different PCs separate (3 have 2TB storage and the 4th has 1TB). I'm after minimum power consumption as it'll be on most of the time so energy efficiency is key. Automation of backups would also be nice if possible. So what should I be looking for? And what components do people recommend? Thanks for any help.

So i was planning to upgrade my cpu, I did some research and found Intel i5-9400f processor, it has 6 core and no hyper threading it is very cheap for a 9th gen processor, so that made me wonder what made it so cheap and will it run better than processor with quad core hyperthreading.

Hey I'm specking out a high end video editing PC for my mothers boyfriend, he is retiring soon and he wants to do high end, professional video editing after retirement. He is planning to use the program Media Composer (or something similar) which I know nothing about other than that it's video editing software. I've built one gaming PC before but I don't have much experience with video editing PC's so I could use some help. He says his limit is about $5 000 CAD ($3,720 USD) including the price of 2-3 monitors. Does anyone have experience specking out a video editing PC at this price range? Furthermore does anyone have experience with Media Composer specifically?

I have been thinking about this a while, and I always wanted to see a video of someone just review a builds that people have made, like say a person has build computer under $500, and then like say Linus reviews computer spec, test on benchmark and then gives a full review of what he thinks of the build and says what could have been changed or replaced to make it better. And this kind of things could be done like 1 month because they already have to make a lot of videos and that be costly to do because they have to build themselves the PC and see what good and what's bad about it. And that's the idea that I am just dropping on the table to see if anybody is interested as I am, like come on, anybody would like to see Linus build their PC and say stuff about how much sucks. No, but I think it would be an awesome video to do ones a month, and people could post their specs on the forum and attach a pic of pc and then later decide what build to that month. Don't that I am asking for this to happen, I am just saying it would a cool idea to do.

Hey! So I´m looking to build a new system and i would like to hear some opinions on the parts I have picked. But first this is not a high-end build I have limited funds to put in to this, it´s going to be a family/gaming PC. These are the parts I have choosen so far: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 W Spire MSI B450 Gaming Plus Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2x8GB 3200MHz Red Corsair Force MP300 120GB M.2 NvMe EVGA BQ Semi-Modulärt 650W 80Plus Bronze MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB I have an old case so I´m going to use that, would like some sugestions on a future purches ;) Also I have some old harddrivers and SSDs at home so the M.2 drive is just for the OS. With that out of the way, the questions I have is, can i change some of the parts to get the price down but not the preformence? AMD vs Nvidia? B450 vs B350 or other chipsets? The build is somwhat themed but that is not the most important part for me, it´s nice if I can keepit that way tho. Thanks in advance!!

Hi all, I'm looking to design a socket mount (just for fun, not sure if I'll make it or not) but I want to find the drawings for the AM4 socket, rather than measure, because I want to make sure I have the exact measurements. Where could I find these. I spent awhile on google, but I could only find AM3 socket drawings. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I was planning to buy a budget laptop (Acer Aspire 5 or Acer Swift 3, or some other laptops similar) with these specs: - i5-8265U processor - 256 GB SSD - 4 GB DDR4 RAM - Nvidia MX250 GPU - 15.6-inch display (IPS) Are these specs will enough to me for everyday use (especially the RAM)? Can the SSD and the new generation DDR4 RAM will reduce memory usage? (In my plan, I'll try for some 8 GB DDR4 RAM instead if I can find.) I think I'll use the laptop mainly on web browsing, a little gaming (mainly games between 2010-2016 like some NFS games) and some photo-video editing. Thanks.

MSI GL73 8rd specs storage space pawn
Allmightyballs posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I just picked up a msi Gl73 8rd from a pawn shop. It reset it using the msi factory settings way (youtube tutorial) & updated fine after but it seems slow starting up & I feel space is missing. What type of storage comes factory? Ive got 558 on C drive & 349 on "data". Also dragon center shows 1T HD but this PC shows 558 & 465 free on C & 349 on "data". The OS loads from the C drive(HD) instead of what seems to be the SSD. Does this sound normal &or could something be taking up space? Can I just add another 8 gig stick or should I replace that with 32?(what I thought this should have) I feel like parts are missing or changed & MSI website doesn't state size of said drives. Note- I have it in my head its a 1T HD & the data is an ssd & the OS should boot from the ssd Any advice on the subject is or laptop itself is greatly appreciated( its replacing a HP stream13 nightmare for daily use) -
I will build a PC for my dad for christmas to replace it's 15 years old laptop and I will probably build one for me aswell. His is likely to get an i3-10100 and mine a i7-9700k or the next gen equivalent. For the i3-10100, the maximum speed it officially supported is 2666Mhz.... So what will happen or what should I do if I intall a dual channel 3200Mhz kit with that CPU?

Hi, i want to setup up some gaming servers in my locality (public hosting). At least 3-4 servers that can handle Rust and other heavy duty games. Don't worry about the expenses, as in for setting up the servers . I have people who can invest in this thing. I just want to make a small business out of it . I need to know about all the potential problems i could run into , a suggestion on the specs of all those servers , what kind of software i should probably use , I'm considering renting a lease line. So i want the lowest possible speed i can run all these games on . You might wonder why all this . Actually I'm from India. i get min 150 ping on almost all games(fortnite, rockect league, rust and many others).I just feel i can make a good business out of these servers. give me a viable deal . Thanks for the Support. (i reposted this)

Hi the Corsair carbide spec 06 came out and I’m wondering how you feel about it in terms of airflow and looks. If you don’t think it’s a good choice, what are some other mid tower cases with high airflow, glass, and 50 - 150 dollars? Thanks.

As the title says - looking for a min spec pc for my brother. He only plays football manager - rocket league and pubg. I have a spare gfx card which is the R9 380 4gb. I think it should work? He is looking for a cpu - motherboard and ram to work with the card. If the card is able to run the game that is. He just wants a min-spec to play said games. As cheap as possible. Monitor is a 1980x1080. At most - I would say he is willing to spend 300-400 - at most maybe 500..
