I currently have a Sonos beam on a 65" Samsung UHD TV in a Loft/Bonus room and I am looking to have a sound bar for my open Family room to pair with my 65" OLED LG. I am open to moving the Sonos and using the new soundbar on either TV. I am aware if I pair Samsung with TV's the sound works in unisen which could be pretty good. I am also aware that the Sonos realm is top tier but becomes quite expensive as you add components to it. I do not have a set budget, I am looking for value. I would use the soundbar for mostly TV/Movies/Gaming. Ideally being as budget friendly and getting the best bang for my buck. I have been suggested Klipsh, Sonos, Samsung. What are your thoughts and suggestions? Also if there are any websites out there similar to Rtings so that I can compare products that I do not require a paid subscription to use, that would be great. Cheers.

Hi everybody, I got a Sonos Beam V1 connected to my PC to replace an old 2.1 kit which needs to go away for physical space reasons. I connected the Sonos to the optical out of my trusty old SoundBlaster X-FI Surround 5.1 Pro and the thing sounds decent so far. Why Sonos? 1 sound bar system in the house to rule them all - I can always put it somewhere else later. But if I could swap out the SB for something more "modern" as the SB software is ancient, I think it could make sense. Should I keep this and save some coin or is there a worthwhile upgrade? At a minimum needs an optical out, HDMI would be nice. My setup is a mid tower with an NVidia 1650 card and an i7-8700 (yes with built-in graphics). So is there a way to use the NVidia or the Intel for this? I use the DisplayPort port for my gaming monitor - and thought I could use the HDMI to just output sound if that's possible. Or could I use the Intel as the main audio output? I need a HDMI-DisplayPort adapter but if it makes sense I'll just get one. Thanks!

Hi Guys, Not a very active member of this forum but I had no idea were to ask this so...here it goes! Someone asked me if it was possible to connect a Mic to an already existing Sonos Setup ( Sonos One mostly), and after some digging I found out that it could be possible using the Sonos Port. My problem now is... I don't know anything about microphones. So what I got is... - The Sonos connect has RCA ports and a 3.5mm jack to RCA adapter. - I need a mic that is "In line" which if I understood well means the signal is amplified. - I found this mic which has an headphone output that I guessed would work: http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/microphones/usb-microphones/gtrackpro/ Do you audio wizards approve this mic choice or am I completly wrong? And if you have better recommendations I will be very happy to read it. Thanks in advance and have a very nice day ! *Mic drop* *Pick up the Mic* PS. I live in Switzerland so price and or availability may be tricky. *Mic drop again*

So I have bought a Sonos Five to sit under my Samsung UHD TV I knew on purchase the Sonos doesn't have Bluetooth but supports Audio over WiFi, so I thought I would be able to link my TV and the Sonos as my TV also supports WiFi Audio When in the Audio settings on my TV wifi speaker set up is greyed out weather I am am running ethernet or wireless and even on the Sonos app It will not show the TV as a an option to connect I've spent enough money on this and I could do. Bluetooth receiver into the 3.5mm jack Or Optical converter box But I don't want to spend any more money right now and was wondering if anyone has a solution where I can directly link over wifi.... TV model samsung ue55ru7470uxxu Thanks for any feedback Be nice its my first post

A couple of days ago my Crestron Prodigy systems brain went out. We can not use our whole house audio system. I was thinking of either getting a Sonos amp for each room, a cheap integrated 2ch amp for each room and hooking them up to a chrome cast. What is the best solution? We have 6 rooms controlled (2 4 zone amps), and each room does not have more than 2 in ceiling Polk audio speakers. Also need a keypad to control input and volume in each room. Would like to keep under 3000, unless there is a excellent option that is over that price. If you are wondering I am replacing the switches with Lutron Caseta dimmers and I am going to control them with the google home app.

I currently own an LG C8 55" (only ARC no eARC) and i'm moving to a new house where it will be the main tv in the living room. So the audio from the TV alone won't be enough so I'm looking at a good surround, we would also use it to play music on Spotify. The wife factor is important and some friends have bose 700 surround set in white and others have sonos one's and she likes the aesthetic. My preference is Sonos devices and I'm planning on getting 2 Sonos one SL's as speakers behind the couch on stands or against the wall. I read a little about Dolby Atmos needing eARC and the C8 only has ARC so I'm wondering if it's worth to get the Sonos Arc or not? Or is there another wireless surround that's white and looks clean and works well?

Hello LTT community! SO I have a quite annoying issue on my hand that I cannot seem to fix myself... Apparently streaming music on my Sonos Playbar via Wifi interferes with the Bluetooth signal of devices connected to my laptop. Here's my setup: we are in a ~15sqm room in a small appartment, multi tennant home, 2nd floor. walls are quite thick (don't hear any neighbours). at one wall theres' my computer desk with my laptop on it, external monitor connected via cable (USB-C). 1m away from a window. in addition i have externals like, mouse, keyboard and speakers, all connected to the laptop via bluetooth; this works fine for work and game. roughly 2m away by the second wall, there is a small open shelf, containing my modem (cable), router (Google Wifi), and NAS. by the third wall there's a couch, facing my TV with my Sonos Playbar on a board in the middle of the room. these two are connected via optical to each other, the Sonos is also connected to the Wifi. i also got new internet and modem recently. Wifi on this is disabled (bridged mode). I see quite a few Wifi networks around me, although only 1 other than my own shows a strong connection available. The issue: first, there wasnt a real issue with anything. we all know, Sonos seems to have a habit of randomly stop playing a song and skip to the next, seems to loose connection temporarily. also my internet was bad (LTE). then suddenly issues started, right around the time i got my new internet and modem. mainly with my mouse-cursor input jumping around, and also audio from the BT speakers with interruptions. this interference only happens occasionally (not all the time), and with varied duration and strength. What I've tried so far: unplug everything from power thats not needed immediately; including the monitor for example. then power everything back up individually. first it seemed the new internet modem was the culprit. even though the first thing after receiving it was disable its own Wifi (since i have the router plugged in behind it for Wifi anyway). for this, I set the modem to "bridged" mode via its configuration. plus for a while i covered it in aluminum foil... after trying this for a few days, i noticed that i still got occasional interruptions. then i switched to a different internet option, and determined that apparently the Sonos Playbar causes the interruptions. especially noticeable when music is playing / shortly before the song ends (i suppose the next one is pre-loaded). but also sometimes with no music playing (maybe it does status updates in the background, alive check, ...?) so i tried to switch between the 3 channels for the Wifi connection that the Sonos app provides, but the issue still appears with each. sadly, Sonos devices only seem to be able to connect to 2.4Ghz Wifi; everything else here (laptop, smartphones, etc) is connected via 5Ghz. ETH cable connection to the Sonos is not really an option (or a very inconvenient one), since with my room's layout its in the middle of the room with the TV, not by a wall (the couch is there). Questions: Do you think that the Sonos is really the issue here? Since it did not seem to have caused issues before I got the new modem. What else could i try to determine which is causing this? How would i remedy the connection issues for good? I would not like to switch away from the Sonos Playbar if possible, since i like the sound it provides both for TV and music . and the convenience with its App on mobile and Windows. And dont really know if there is an alternative all-in-one soundbar, that gives good sound and also similar convenience (direct stream of Google play music via Wifi and app control from both Android and Windows). BR, -yinas --- Remarks: sorry for my english, not native.

In the case of yet another company determining that data collection is an essential function to perform their service, Sonos is updating their Privacy Policy to require the collection of a users email address, IP address, account information, device data, Wi-Fi Antenna data other hardware information, room names and error data. Users who opt out are being told that their device may receive degraded performance and cease to function in the future. http://www.zdnet.com/article/sonos-accept-new-privacy-policy-speakers-cease-to-function/ It's reason's like this that I think will hinder the develop of a truly integrated home system. This kind of forced data collection doesn't seem to be just for the benefit of the end user and adds another layer of security issues...

Hey guys! First time poster, been a fan of Linus tech tips and am having a techish problem and thought, who better to reach out to! Here is my current situation: I just moved in with my girlfriend and because she appreciates the nerd in me, is allowing me to use the office as a game room! I currently have a 60 inch tv mounted in the middle of the wall, with two 42 inch tvs to the right of the 60 over and under each other. My problem: I have an Xbox one, a PS4, a wii, a switch, a SNES classic, a cable box and an Apple TV, also but not needed an extra blue ray player n64 and a retro duo nes and snes system that could be added but I don't need to. ( the gaming is the priority, but secondarily I have a sonos play bar and two sonos play ones I need to set up but i will mention more on that below) So! Here I am, reaching out to all the Linus' out there! I am trying to come up with some creative solutions to connect all these gaming/ watching devises to the Tvs I have. ( also connect the sonos, but I think the easiest thing to do is set up the playbar under the 60 inch and the two play 1s in the back of the room as the 60inch is the main television in the room. But I am open to other ideas!) SO! Does Linus or any other Linus lover like myself have any suggestions or idea of how to solve my problem? (Ps the tvs were just mounted and on adjustable mounts so don't worry that they are slightly off center, that will be fixed!)

Hi, I've been looking into an upgrade to my TV setup which currently is a cheap ass 40" LCD that is 6 years old and set me back $250. My current strategy is go big or go home. Even though I haven't set a max budget I can't afford to spend an infinite amount of money. As a reference I live in Sweden so some US brands are not available here. Pricing is probably abit higher than US i belive. TV Based on reviews and pricing I've fallen for the Philips OLED's - unless someone can convince me that Dolby Vision is a MUST HAVE. The two current contenders are: Philips 55'' OLED 4K UHD Smart TV 55POS9002 ~ $1300 Philips 65" OLED 4K UHD Smart TV 65OLED873/12 ~$2300 My question is if really is it worth $1000 to have a screen that is 10" larger? Any heads up regarding Philips TV's? Sound Does anyone have experience using Sonos Beam + Sub + 2xPlay:1 speakers? I really value the TrueSound and especially the fact that it's wireless. As well as I could potentially expand this system to the rest of my house. I have some Questions: Can I use Alexa Voice control via the Beam even though the Play:1's are not compatible? or do I need the Sonos Play One's aswell? Is the Sub worth the buck or do I get a very good experience with just the Beam + 2x Play:1? Wallmount Does the utility of being able to turn and tilt my TV win over the fact that a really minimal mount makes my TV super thin and sticking to the wall? In general i feel the big decision for me budget wise is: Either i go for the 65" and skip the Sonos Sub or i get the 55" and buy the Sonos Sub. Thanks for your input

good day all so i just upgraded my PC speaker system. i have a Sonos beam to my asus prime x299 deluxe MB by the optical out (using the sonos optical to HDMI ARC connector) and its working well. i then figure why not get surround sound. so i just got 2 oneSL's. i hooked them up and its not working. they out put sound (extension of the 2.0 sound from the beam) but not true surround. i have gone into the settings in win 10 to see if i could get it to push 5.1 audio. but i cant find anything. is this even possible?? is there a way to get HDMI ARC output from my 2080ti?? i want full 5.1, but have yet to order a sub, and probably wont until i figure out how to get surround working. any help would be awesome. cheers,

So I'm getting a pair of Sonos Ones very soon, however I don't have my phones around me often, and I know that this speaker has to get music somehow. I know for a fact that the Homepod can stream music from the Internet by itself, without using an iPhone. So I want to know if the Sonos One is also capable of doing that. I appreciates all help!

Buy Vizio Sound Bars On Amazon: http://geni.us/gM8C On Newegg: http://geni.us/fCSsLJ4 Buy Sonos Beam on Amazon: Sound bars are a growing category in the home theater space. Some can do multi-room audio. Some can do virtual surround sound. Some, like the new Sonos Beam, even have the Google Assistant or Alexa built in. But what about this best-selling value sound bar from Amazon?

Any recommendations for speakers under $500 with Bluetooth primarily for music? (also music through PC) I have previously listened to Sonos Play:3's (no longer own) and loved the sound and form factor of them and looking for a replacement but they cannot be used on my pc which is a requirement.

Hi guys I was contacted my employee today to buy a new router for the company TO: connect our Sonos system (2 Play:ONE speakers and a phone for the music)(and always always give that priority so it doesn't fail) and to let costumers connect to the wifi (80 users a day, simultaneously maybe 60 users connected). The only problem is that I can spend +- 100 EUR. For us it isn't a problem if the costumers have a slow internet, let say 3 Mbps (that is enough for some basic Instagram and Snapchat, which our users use their phones for). For us it is more important that the Sonos system never never fails. I have found some routers but I am not sure which one is better or where to look for other then QoS and MU-MIMO. Even here I'm not sure if MU-MIMO is necessary? Because I'm more of a house networking guy, not for a business (I'm still learning everyday). The help you guys give me the last years helped me a lot, and if you guys can help me here that would be awesome. Here are some routers I found: Netgear R6400; Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 R6800; TP-Link Archer C2300; ASUS RT-AC58U; Linksys EA8300 Tri-band; Netgear Nighthawk R7000; Asus RT-AC68U (doesn't have MU-MIMO but has a good deal on it). Sincerely yours

Hey everyone!!!!!! So once upon a time, I was on this forum and got a lot of help from some people to help with the plans (someone made them below) and the before picture (also below) of what my game room set up was like. here is what i have now- the 3 tvs, hooked up to a 4x4 hdmi matrix, with 2 hdmi splitters, and all the gaming systems that are listed below. i also have bluetooth recievers connected to each tv so that headphones can be used to listen to one screen at a time... SO that is all up and running and cool and great now!!!!! HOWEVER, I do need some final touches to get this room up and running to its full potential. i currently have a sonos playbar and two sonos play1s in the back of the room for surround sound. I have a spare ipad that i plan on using in this room to help with my problem. I am trying to get color lighting set up in the room as well and currently need a lamp bulb(type a bulb 120v 60hz 150w max) lights for fan (2 40w type b10) and sconces in back of room where the sonos are (2 60 watt type a 120v 60hz) 1. I am looking for recomendations for what lighting/company i should use to get all of this done. 2. I would like to get the sonos set up on my ipad(not that difficult and i can do on my own) but i would also like to get the light bulbs hooked up to it as well. 2a. i have an old ipad that is wifi only that i could keep in this room and use for everything as a controller. i also have a new ipad pro that has wifi and att i could bring into the room if i wanted to. 3. i wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to get this room up and running the most efficient way possible. ex: if there is any way to set the tvs up to the ipad, set the hdmi matrix(it has a remote) up to it, or the hdmi splitters (those have buttons). 4. I would just like some general help on making this room the most effecient possible game room it can be and am open to any and all suggestions to making that happen!!!!!!!!! So to sum up, i really need suggestions on the lighting, i would like any suggestions on making this room more efficient in any way shape or form. thank you to everyone who helped in the past, and thank you to everyone for your help in advanced!!! I will add some updated photos of the room when i get there later today.

So my uncle is building a one storey house and asked me what sound system I would suggest. He already saw the sonos but he didn't feel quite comfortable with the price. He needs something for the tv (5.1 or at leas 3.1) and something for multiroom. So my approach would be this: Logitech Z906 (for tv) some Sonos Play 1 (for bath, citchen, bedroom, ...) a Sonos Play 5 (for when he needs more power wherever he wants) I also looked into the Bose ones but except the Airplay (which only apple devices use, which he doesn't have) there is no real improvement right? Any other recommendations on good quality multiroom systems? Also possible: Amplifier + 5 boxes (never done anything there)

Hi all, Ive been looking for some speakers that I can mount to the corners of my room (About 2 meters up), that can be connected via Bluetooth or something of the sort. I have some features down below in mind that Im trying to look for but I cant really find any. - Bluetooth Connectivity - Built in AMP (No need for external amp) - Wont have to pair the speaker to the device each time.(Like doesnt drop out) -Wall mountable -Decent quality I've had a look at the SONOS Play series and they seem to have everything I want however they seem pricey for 1 Unit each and im not too sure on the loudness. Thanks for anything you guys can recommend!

So my desk has recently smashed into pieces after trying to but all three monitors on a stand that holds all three. I actually had a 50/50 thought that it would smash but still wanted to give it a go because I was going to get a new desk in summer anyways... So I got a desk that is straight and no longer glass. But I was thinking should I get the Sonos PlayBar? Is it a Good quality sound. I was also thinking about Harmon Kardon speakers.

Sorry if this has been discussed here or part of a LTT show but I couldn't find info on either in my brief effort to look. I have a 3 story townhome and the main internet setup, wifi, Sonos bridge, modem, computer, etc., are all down in the basement mancave. Sometimes our bedroom or top floor has a weaker signal so I bought a WIFI extender (Netgear) that was highly rated but when I set it up on the middle level as "extender" and not Access Point, it seems to boost the signal throughout the house but then it blocks or messes up my SONOS bridge and the SONOS system can't stay connected to the streaming music services like Pandora. Just wondering if anyone else was having this issue with a separate stand alone network being inturrepted by your WIFI Extender and what you did to fix it. I went to the Netgear site, the SONOS site, and really didn't get any good information. One piece of advice is to make it an Access Point instead but doesn't that mean I'd have to have the Modem on that level to access the Extender? I'm pretty good with computers but lacking knowledge as I age when it comes to the new stuff like advanced networks and the different types, channels, and multiple ones (like adding SONOS - which was very easy but how do I get it to not be blocked by the extender?). If you guys at LTT haven't done a show topic on Extender vs Access Point that would be a really good one. Thanks, ~Jer

NCIX: N/A Amazon: http://georiot.co/4AgK Sonos' software and hardware ecosystem is simple enough that you can be up and running within 5 minutes, and yet so deep that I needed two nearly 10-minute videos to cover it properly! Part 1 focuses on the app and wired operation, while part two throws wireless and speaker grouping into the mix with their Playbar.
