  1. Hello, I recently got a Shure 55 Deluxe mic as a gift, it was pretty ok until I decided to uninstall and reinstall realtek audio drivers to get rid of fuzz in the background, my mic then stopped working and when it worked it was very low. After hours of trying to fix the problem, I did a complete clean install of windows, after setting my new windows up, the problem was still there. I went into settings, I put the microphone volume at 100 and microphone boost at 10db, it was not as loud as it was before, and the mic quality sounds horrible, worse than before, 20db is unbearable it sounds amplified. I installed drivers from the motherboard website too. The problem still persists. The microphone is very good, I have seen tests and reviews online. What the hell is going on? It's not my wires that's for sure, they were working great until I reinstalled realtek audio drivers the first time. Can anybody help me? Thanks,
  2. Hey there people. Just wondering but what XLR microphone do you own and what do you use it for? Thought it would be fun to create a thread on what people use for their recording solutions and such. For myself, I use the following: Audio Interface: Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) Mic Preamp/Processor: DBX 286s Microphone: Shure SM7B This is my setup for anything video or live stream related. Though, I have done a few audio book related jobs in the past. What about you guys?

    About Shure SE535

Hi everyone ! Does everyone uses Shure's SE535 Series EarPods ? If it is the case, what do you think about those one, if you have more to advise me I'll take it Thanks
  4. Hello, I originally started a thread about what IEM's I should get for less than $100 and the best pair I saw were the SE 215's by Shure. I decided to invest more so now I moved my budget to $200 (USD). I want to know what is the best pair of IEM's that are both durable and sound great. I would like a decent warranty as well (2+ years). What do I want in regards to sound? Linus' (or Linus's) review of the Sennheiser IE80's is the description of what I would like. I have seen some options like the VSonic GR07's and still the Shure SE 215's. I would also like them to be comfortable and isolating. So audio people, should I get the SE 215's or is there anything else that is better in the sub-$200 price. Thank you in advance -Sebs
  5. Hi guys, so I think the soundcard that came with my motherboard(maximus formula III) supremeFX is broken. The audio i get is flawless but my mic on skype or any other voip software it makes very weird buzzing static sounds. I use razer carcharias headset and Ive tested it on my brother's computer onboard and it works fine on his. The buzzing static noise gets louder when I use graphic intensive software and its only audible on the left cup - (obviously i have to enable listen in option in mic to hear it). So I've been looking into getting a used sound card like xonar st(x) and new earbuds or headphones to go along with it. I could just upgrade the whole cpu and motherboard and use the onboard sound but Im not really in a need for a more powerful system as i only play league and my i5 760 4ghz is fine for that task. Also, haswell sucks. So my question is, is there a significant difference in sound quality of earbuds vs headphones? I was only looking into headphones until i came across IEMs and was thinking if Im gonna spend tons of money on new sound gear id rather get something i can use portable as well. I will have to get a clip on mic if Im going the earbud route vs something like modmic for headphones. I watch tons of movies, TV shows, and listening to classics and KPOP. Also I have an iphone5. Mainly Im interested on the UE900, Shure 535 LE vs Sennheiser HD598. Please help me decide or suggest other options. Thank you.
  6. This is the review of the Shure SE215, not to be confused with the SE215LTD which is a variant of the SE215 introduced at a later date. At first Coming from basically using <$40 earphones i did not know what to expect from this. I was utterly disappointed in the how the earphones fit in my ears and how lackluster they sound, i really thought that the sounds quality would have dramatically changed after switching from low grade entry tier audio products. Low bass response, confused mid and highs. Which leads to the next point, after a period of 5 months, i learnt how to use the included foam and silicon tips properly to obtain a great seal, the included silicon tips provided provide a balanced sound and as i would like to rate it 7/10 in terms of noise isolation and with the included foam tips, 9/10 in terms of noise isolation. (Medium sized comply eartips are 8.5/10) After my stock cable was damaged with the right side being faulty, i replaced the stock cable with the FiiO RC-SE1 replacement cables. I found these to be more detailed and less warm in terms of audio quality than the stock cables, with slight but noticeable treble boosts probably because of a higher Silver content in the SPC(Silver plated copper) wires. However, the micro-phonics on this particular cable are downright atrocious. If the stock cables would have 7/10 in terms of micro-phonics, these new replacement cables would have gotten a 1/10. I straight up discourage anyone who gets annoyed easily when music is not playing and the cables rubs with each other. Otherwise, when playing music the micro-phonics can barely be heard and the cable is of great quality and certain to last for a long time. I am going to try out the ATH E40s in a few weeks time and maybe i can provide a comparison of that when i get myself on them :D.
  7. So i just got the SE315, the sound is great when its plugged in to my phone (Note 5) but when i connect it to my pc the sound is very sharp that it makes me uncomfortable listening to it. Is it because of the onboard audio on my pc? Do i have to buy an external dac/amp to solve this problem? Side note: I burned in the shure for 40 hrs and the sharp sound reduces but its still very sharp compared to when connecting to my phone. Also the connection setup on my pc is Rear 3.5mm port > Razer Blackwidow > Shure SE315 Does this affect the performance? Thanks
  8. So I got a question for you guys, I got myself a replacement pair of the Shure SE215s and they seem to be updated in the design department compared to the previous pair. The weird thing is that with the new pair they don't seem to be able to output the low frequency punch on my Asus N56JN while on my Nexus 5 they sound exactly the same as the previous pair. To me this is weird as 1. the previous pair did not exhibit this problem and 2. this would be more normal if the phone sounded less good as it should have a better preamp (Is this true?) Does anybody know what could cause this? (it is not volume nor a user-controlled eq)
  9. Just wanted to show off a couple of my racks that we use at the production company. and my 48c board. the first image (labeled rack 1) is what i use for most of our shows now. from top to bottom it consists of the following. power conditioner shure antenna and power distribution unit shure recievers bbe sonic maximizer behringer 8024 dsp presonus rm32ai main amp monitor amp the second image (labled rack 2) is how we used to run our main rack when we were using analog gear. power conditioner bbe sonic maximizer behringer 8024 dsp pra-8 preamp presonus firepod' alesis compressor presonus acp88 compressor/gate/limiter/expander antares atr-1 autotune (only ever used it once. more of a novelty) digitech studioquad patchbay splitter snake that board is the old mackie. we no longer use that at all. it was trash. the 3rd image (labeled yamahaconsole1) I included just for fun, this is my yamaha m3000a 40c. it is a 48 channel analog board and was the first soundboard to have any digital features, its fairly worthless but i collect boards so i have 15 or 20 this is just my newest addition. feel free to ask any questions in the comments.
  10. Hey guys, I have been looking at some new in ears and have heard (Audio Joke that I am now pointing out so it is not as funny!) that the shure se215s are some of the best at that price point, should I go with the shures or something else? (I don't really know how to describe the sound I want, I love the sound of my beyerdynamic dt 770s, So I guess studio monitorey, that's not a word is it?)
  11. Hey, everyone. First of all, thanks in advance for taking the time to check this out. I'm trying to pick up a pair of ear buds with the following criteria: $125ish max budget. Basic iPhone functions for calls; e.g. volume up, volume down, start and end call. Decent build construction as these will be used at the gym as well as running errands. Good audio quality.I know this is subjective. I'm not even a self proclaimed audiophile, but I do listen to a lot of music. Wanting something that doesn't sound thin or muddy. So neither on both ends of the spectrum. I listen to a lot of hip hop, some glitch, rock, classical, blues, jazz, you name it. Anything from ABBA to Zapp & Roger.... Very much, more so the Z in this example. Any help at all would be fantastic. I was using a pair Scosche IDR655ms and then the Shure SE115m+s for the longest time but now the left side on the Shure is dead and there are breaks in the cable housing. I loved the Shures and was gonna get another pair of these, but I don't remember them costing almost 300$. The Scosches were decent sounding, but had some really overpowering bass on some songs and they weren't the most comfortable. Actually, not comfortable at all. Sorry about being particular on this, fam. Anyways, thanks guys!
  12. Alright, finally done with the cheap stuff. The big cans are comimg out. Build The headband has a nice meshed material on the bottom and a nice leathery top with SHURE pressed in. Plenty of padding for me, and headband wise I've had no comfort issues. Nice leathery soft pads, comfortable for the most part I feel they could be a little deeper as my ears can press against the inside and after a few hours start to hurt. I don't think I have huge ears, but I do know they are pretty sensitive after a few hours, and I can fix the discomfort by taking a quick break or adjusting them slightly. For having plastic hinges and headbands they are really strong. Shure didn't skimp on using plastic, everything feels really thick and solid. great for travel where they may get tossed around or smushed a little. Has a nice coiled detachable cable with a screw on/off 1/4" adapter. The connection on the headphone side is a locking 3/32" Sound Innerfidelity graphs here http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/ShureSRH840.pdf I'm using my M^3 amp and a xindac dac-5 w/ tube output. I have to say, for drums, bass and guitar, these are my favorite headphones I've heard. very detailed, and instrumental separation is great. I strongly recommend at LEAST 320kbps with these if not flac. That goes with any headphone, but when you spend this much on headphones you better know what you're getting into. The bass is slightly(very slightly) strong for me, and it could have better extension, but to get that I think you may be paying ~3x as much. everything else just seems to fall inline, with it's very flat response. Male vocals seem a little more forward than female vocals, but it may be the recordings as I only have a couple albums with female vocals. I really don't know what else to say about the sound quality. They are fantastic and only a small step below even my HE-500's IMO. The biggest problem for me isn't not the headphones. That problem is with whoever is recording the music. you can really tell who cares about what they are recording and who doesn't. FUN MOD I have an adapter and a 4" mini cable and hot glued some velcro to the phones and a sansa clip+ for almost wireless headphones. Final Thoughts Great phones and I from other phones I've heard are right at the peak of the the price to performance ratio, IMO. Fantastic sounding headphones for music and movies, I would however recommend something open(ad700's or hd5x8 off the top of my head) for gaming. I bought these for portable use and already owned the HD595's. Fantastic combo, as I had the HD595's for gaming and lighter music, and the srh-840's for movies and heavier music.
  13. So I have a pair of Sennheiser cx 300 ii and was wondering if there would be any significant upgrade from them. I've been looking at the shure SE215's. They appeal to me because they have a removable cord, so if it breaks, I can just get another one. However I dont like the idea of the over the ear design (looks ugly to me) so im not sure if I would wear them as designed in public (yes, im self conscious). I only listen to music on my phone if that makes a difference. So do you think there is a reason to upgrade? If so are the Shure SE215's a good choice. Budget under $150 please. Open to other suggestions. Thanks and sorry for the long post, Cody
  14. With the 840 pads installed, how much closer is the 440 to the 840?
  15. Sennheiser Momentum "In-Ears" or Shure SE215s Planning on using the earbuds for more than 2 years. Not at all going to buy replacement parts (obsoleting the removable cables feature of the SE215s). I'm going to frequently stuff the earbuds in my pant's pocket, consequently pull them out frequently, putting a lot of strain on the cable. Taking all those things into mind, which is more likely to survive a longer time?
  16. About a year later after buying and being disappointed with the HyperX Clouds I've decided to buy some good earbuds/IEMs. I'm currently leaning towards the Shure SE215s but I've heard that RHA has an offering for around the same price of $100. I listen to Rock, Jazz, House, Rhythm and Blues, Electro Swing and Metal. So yeah, what's the best I can get?
  17. Hi. I've been looking around on the internett and let's just say I'm getting quite confused in this situation. I am looking for the best earbuds for about 100 dollars. I have mostly been looking at the sennheiser momentum in-ear and the shure se-215. I listen to Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Falling in reverse, stuff like that and som K-Pop. What is the best pair in this situation, I've seen a lot of comparisons but I can't decide since I am not a pro at this. If I was unclear about anything please feel free to ask, thank you in advance!
  18. Is there any diffrence between the wired or wireless version of the shure se846?
  19. Hey everyone! I want to replace my Shure SE215 that just broke. Bought them a few years ago and loved them. Really nice upgrade from Apple's EarPods, which sound quite "muddy" and are just_so_uncomfortable because of the plastic moulding. However, I'm not 100% sure that I want to buy them again, I want to see how things have changed and whether they're still the best for my budget. Budget: £90-100. Source: iPhone, laptop. Isolation: Highly preferred, using these both while travelling/walking and indoors. Type: IEM. Preferred Music: Bit of everything. Focus on stuff from Monstercat, EDM, orchestral music, some pop, and audiobooks/podcasts. What I loved about my SE215: Fantastic sound quality. Relatively large jump from EarPods and other cheaper earphones (I also used to own a Logitech UE 600vi). Great isolation. Really snug fit esp. with the foam tips. I simply cannot wear straight-down earphones any more, I must have an IEM with a loop over the ear for it to feel secure, otherwise I always feel like it's going to fall out at any time. This did the job well. Great reliability. They'd seen a lot of activity, even rain, and held very well where other pairs broke down. The cable is detachable from the earphone (and can be replaced, though I never needed to). What I didn't love: The cable was a bit thicker than I expected. Good for reliability but it could've been less bulky; I could feel the weight (and using a clothing clip to negate that isn't something I want to rely on all the time). Towards the end of life, I could hear some crackling if I twisted to adjust the IEM against the cable. The bend in the loop that sits on the ear also started to feel a little "loose", like it had lost its ability to retain shape. Location: UK. Shortlist: based on some research, I've got it down to - RHA MA750i, RHA CL750, 1MORE Triple Driver, Zero Audio Carbo Tenore (last two aren't looped over-the-ear though so they're probably out). Any advice is appreciated!
  20. After years of using the Sennheiser HD201 I decided it was time to upgrade. The ear pads were starting to disintegrate, the cable got split in the middle and so on. In my search I've considered many headphones (mostly ones out of my budget) but finally made my choice and got the Shure SRH440. Now I'm using them for some time it's time to be honest... was the upgrade worth it? For those who don't want to read here's the one word conclusion: Yes. For others here's a more detailed explanation: Right away I noticed the superior build quality of the SRH440. Not to say that the HD201 is bad, just that the SRH440 feels more rugged and tough. From the detachable coiled cable, to the ear cups and so on. So far so good... I've mentioned the cable for a reason. Most of the time my headphones break it's because the cable breaks. With the SRH440 I don't worry about that. Also important for me is that it's coiled as I sit close to my desk but still want to move around freely without the cable dragging on the floor. It's also detachable so in case that it does break I can actually replace it. The cable is definitely a big plus over the HD201. Now for the tricky bit - sound quality... I've extensively listened to both and I have to say that they sound very close. Sure the SRH440 gets louder and has better sound attenuation but the actual SQ is nearly identical (and the frequency response graphs show that). Is it a bad thing? No, I quite enjoyed how the HD201s sound and I enjoy SRH440s as well. If anything, kudos to Sennheiser for making the HD201s sound so good. There is a downside with the SRH440s - comfort. They have almost no padding on the headband. They're also quite heavy (especially compared to the HD201). The result is that I can't wear them for over 3 hours. Not a big deal as I don't have such long listening sessions anyway. To conclude... the Shure SRH440 are definitely a worthy upgrade to the Sennheiser HD201. Yes they sound virtually identical, but the superior build quality, detachable coiled cable and better sound attenuation give it the edge over the HD201. Unsurprisingly as they cost 4 times more. Bonus conclusion: If you're looking for a pair of budget headphones the Sennheiser HD201 are an excellent choice.
  21. How are the Shure SE215's? Nobody has really done any sort of review on them on YouTube, so I was curious how they are. I am looking for some great ear-buds with entry level high end audio quality. I am looking into the clear pair because they look pure epic (for us geeks). *drool*
  22. So I am in the market to pick up a set of IEMs. While I love my over-the-ear headphones, the bulk of carrying it around and the resultant headphone-hair, I would like to have something else to bring with me. I only spent about $300 on my current headphones, and have some reservations on spending more than that for IEMs for the sole purpose of listening to music off of my phone when I'm not at home. If the sound quality is markedly better, for a marginal higher price (than my headphones), I would be okay with that. Basically, some features that I do like: detachable cables (have it for my headphones, and have saved the cables a few times while I was on the bus) enjoyable sound quality (I am not an audiophile, but can still appreciate the difference between cheap and quality) good isolation Most of my looking around point me in the direction of Shure SE425 vs. the SE215. The SE215 costs about $124 while the SE425 cost $384 (both after taxes). I listen to a wide range of music (usually FLAC or 320 kbps MP3) and through my Fiio E07k. My preferred budget is sub-$250 (CAD, after taxes), but I do have some play. For example, in the case of the SE425's, a lot of people say it's worth the extra money. I definitely do not want to break the $400 barrier (after taxes, so $354 before taxes). I've dealt with www.headphonebar.com in the past, and do like their service (like sending a hand-written thank you note for my patronage inside of the shipping box). I will likely buy from them again or another reliable Canadian retailer (online). I would like to make the purchase by 12 September 2014. Saving $260 by getting the SE215's means I can buy more junk food and cigarettes. I'm willing to sacrifice those for better IEMs (within reason).
  23. Hi, I'm busy looking for a microphone for which I can use while I use my glidecam. It needs to have a 3.5mm jack and not a xlr port. My budget is around £120-180ish. I have been looking at the rvmp but heard some bad reviews about them, and looked at the azden smx-30 but it it too expensive and seems overkill. What mic is best to get? Thanks
  24. Hey guys, I was looking for a pair of budget earphones for mostly electronic and trap . I'm deciding between these 3: -Shure SE215 -Audio Technica ATH-E40 -RHA MA750 Which ones are the better choice? Considering comfort, build and sound quality? THX a lot

    Shure 215 or 315

I know there is like a $100 difference between the two different sets but are the 315's worth an extra $100 for someone who uses earbuds for playback from instruments such as guitar, bass, drums, and piano? Also possibly Tuba and Trombone. They will be used in a professional setting at a studio that some friends and I have just made but they left me in charge of finding earbuds and headphones for us all to use for playback as they think I'm like a technology guru that knows everything there is and can never make a wrong decision.... Main question here is are the Shure SE315's worth an extra $100 over the Shure SE215's in a professional music studio for instrumental playback?
