I have a Nvidia Shield TV P2897 (2017) and it has been in a box for a few years. I have the Controller, Remote and the Box. I was trying to setup a box in the living room that I could play some remote games, emulate older games and stream some shows. Here is what I found. -Nothing seems to be compatible with the Shield anymore. Real Racing, most of the Nvidia software and many other games and apps are no longer functioning or are unable to install because it was pulled from the Play store. -Apps keep crashing. No idea why but about half the video streaming apps close or crash after a few minutes. -I can't get RetroArch to read a external USB stick. I am unable to xfer any games to the unit. -Lots of other small stuff does not work. Can't list them all. I have factory reset the device and installed any updates available from Nvidia. So, is this device dead? Should I just switch to the Free Xfinity Stream box thing my ISP gave me? Seems like a waste to not use it. PS: Yes, I spent hours searching online for solutions and not many prople have this device so there is not a lot for it. I know Linus has one so I was hoping I could get some help from this community. Thank you all in advance. -Zombie (no my pic)

From the album: Aviation Tech
Garmin Pilot on a SHIELD is fantastic. Approach plates, enroute data, NOTAMs....and it even plays Crysis. -
So apparently Indiegala shortly switched to G2A as a payment service provider. In that agreement, G2A's Shield subscription was to be off as standard, which it was at the beginning. However, G2A went full shady and activated it, making you a subscriber of Shield service, without any knowledge (or accept). Worse even is that this 30 day "trial" can only be unsubscribed 2 days before it runs out, or it will continue as a subscription (1€ per month). As a result, Indiegala has disabled all G2A payment services on their site and reverted to their old payment provider. So any buys now, will not have that issue. Here is a nice guide to unsubscribing: http://imgur.com/a/m66DA Yeah, that's 11 steps to unsubscribe. It's shady AF! So I love the idea of being able to play PC or console level games on a mobile device. For that reason I am looking at getting a Nvidia SHIELD Tablet but I have a LOT of questions before I pull the trigger. First, of course I can stream the games on my PC to the tablet right? That might be a dumb question but on Nvidia's website they are driving the GeForce Now thing really hard. Speaking of the GeForce Now service, what happens to your progress on a certain game? I would assume it is saved in the cloud because that's where the games come from but again, Nvidia doesn't say much about that even in the FAQ. And to those of you who own a SHIELD Tablet, how is it? Are you subscribed to GeForce Now and how is that? Worth it? Also, how is it gaming on an 8" screen? And with Nvidia's controller? Or is the whole thing even worth it? I already have an iPad Mini and found out I can use Moonlight to stream GeForce games to it but the 1080p resolution looks smaller because the iPad has a different aspect ratio or something I think. Anyway, I will probably think of more questions as time goes on but if anyone can shed some light on things for me that would be great, thanks.

I'm considering buying either an Nvidia Shield or Steam Link. I'm leaning towards the Shield, but I've noticed that most of my games aren't supported by GeForce Experience. Does this mean I won't be able to play them on the Shield?

Hi everyone, Anyone knows of someone that got an unused Jetson TX1 dev kit to run as a SHIELD console ? I'm wondering if you could just install the same OS as the SHIELD (if you can find it lol...) or if it is really different ? Both are running with a Tegra X1, so you can expect to be able to make it work, at least theoretically... Now for most people to be in the case of having a dev kit laying around unused is another story

So i started building my pc yesterday but once i came to installing the mobo in the case i gave up. There are some metal things which are meant to be pointing inwards but they basically make it impossible for me to connect the motherboard without breaking it. I am already worried because i have tried several times which means i have touched the mobo quite a few times (mostly on sides though) and because whenever i try to push it to the io shield it makes some slight cracking noises. I managed to connect the mobo once but after screwing it in i realised the metal things from the DVI were pushed outwards covering the port. Now i had to unscrew the whole mobo and am basically stuck without making any progress because im afraid ill break the mobo. PS. Am i allowed to pick up the mobo from my cpu cooler? I really like playing games on my android phone and it can play pretty much every game but I was thinking about either getting an NVidia shield tablet or an NVidia shield portable. which one should I get? I know that the portable is less powerful and weird to use for anything else besides gaming but I really like the idea of always having a controller with me and not having to pay $50 extra for it. but I also really like watching movies and videos on my device too and the tablet would be better for that. I'm not very good at making decisions so I need some help. which one should I get?????? I was also thinking about getting an iPhone se ,and I know how most android fans feel about iPhones, but I really like having the internals of the 6s in the size of the 5 because I don't like large phones. i was going to get the iPhone 5 but then the six came out then i was waiting for a smaller phone to come out. i knew people who had iPhone 5s at the time and i loved the size and feel of the phone. i suck at making decisions so please help me. please. i made a poll so please help please I'm bad at decisions please. if u didn't get bored halfway through this horrible post then thanks.

Original Article By PC Gamer: http://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-shield-portable-2-prototype-turns-up-in-a-canadian-pawn-shop/?utm_content=bufferd2d06&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=buffer_pcgamerfb I feel like that this might of been the testing grounds for the tech inside of the Nintendo Switch personally. I don't know how I would of felt if this came to market though... "The Nvidia Shield Portable (originally released as simply the Nvidia Shield) is an Android-powered portable gaming device that looks basically like an Xbox 360 controller with a five-inch LCD screen stuck to it. The handheld debuted in 2013 and was actually pretty okay—powerful, but a little too bulky for gaming on the move. After its release and failure to catch fire commercially, Nvidia moved to a conventional tablet design, but not before whipping up at least one prototype for a planned, but never released, Shield Portable 2—which for some reason was recently discovered in a pawn shop in Canada."

So basically one of the metal tabs on my io shield is actually on top of the usb port. http://imgur.com/WHbH2OL (On the usb 3.1 slot) I'm just curious if this is likely to cause issues at all? I don't need to use the port really so would be happy to leave it. Thanks for any responses.

I am having issues with my Corsair spec alpha case and My Asus Strix 270e motherboard. I have installed the CPU and did originally have the RAM installed but removed it due to this issue. I have also installed the back IO of which is the issue at the moment. When attempting to instal the motherboard into the case and screwing it to the standoffs the back io/motherboard will not align and force is needed to move the board to screw it in. I have run out of ideas on how to fix this issue/ unsure if it's me being stupid or a defect in a component of my pc. I have supplied some pictures below if anyone could take a look and find the issue with my build it would be greatly appreciated.

soooo, this i wonder why this happened i wonder how this happened https://www.engadget.com/2017/08/28/nvidias-shield-2-prototype-shows-up-in-a-canadian-pawn-shop/ do you think they will acctually come out with it or are they happy with the currnt shield, also are the specs that different from the current generation one Quote "The Redditor included photos of the device's specs, which also align with those included in the documents. The dev unit has an ARM Cortex-A57 CPU at 1.91 GHz (which matches Tegra's X1 chip), 3GB of RAM and a 5.9-inch, 1440 x 810 pixel resolution screen."

So recently I was asked to program a Redboard in an effort to make a thermal sensor and have it record data onto a microSD card. I have connected the shield onto the RedBoard and have verified the code using the Arduino software. Here is the whole code: // include the SD library: #include <SPI.h> #include <SD.h> // set up variables using the SD utility library functions: Sd2Card card; SdVolume volume; SdFile root; const int chipSelect = 4; void setup() { // Open serial communications and wait for port to open: Serial.begin(9600); while (!Serial) { ; // wait for serial port to connect. Needed for native USB port only } Serial.print("\nInitializing SD card..."); // we'll use the initialization code from the utility libraries // since we're just testing if the card is working! if(!card.init(SPI_HALF_SPEED, chipSelect)){ Serial.println("initialization failed...Things to check:"); Serial.println("* is a card inserted?"); Serial.println("* is your wiring correct?"); Serial.println("* did you change the chipSelect pin to match your shield or module?"); return; } else { Serial.println("witing is correct and a card is present."); } // print the type of card Serial.print("\nCard type: "); switch (card.type()) { case SD_CARD_TYPE_SD1: Serial.println("SD1"); break; case SD_CARD_TYPE_SD2: Serial.println("SD2"); break; case SD_CARD_TYPE_SDHC: Serial.println("SDHC"); break; default : Serial.println("Unknown"); } // Now we will try to open the 'volume'/'partition' - it should be FAT16 or FAT32 if(!volume.init(card)) { Serial.println("Could not find FAT16/FAT32 partition. \nMake sure you've formatted the card"); return; } // print the type and size of the first FAT-typ volume uint32_t volumesize; Serial.print("\nVolume type is FAT"); Serial.println(volume.fatType(), DEC); Serial.println() ; volumesize = volume.blocksPerCluster(); // clusters are collections of blocks volumesize *= volume.clusterCount(); // we'll have a lot of clusters volumesize *= 512; // SD card blocks are always 512 bytes Serial.print("Volume size (bytes): "); Serial.println(volumesize); Serial.print("Volume size (Kbytes): "); volumesize /= 1024; Serial.println(volumesize); Serial.print("Volume size (Mbytes): "); volumesize /= 1024; Serial.println(volumesize); Serial.println("\nFiles found on the card (name, date and size in bytes): "); root.openRoot(volume); // list all files in the card with date and size root.ls(LS_R | LS_DATE | LS_SIZE); } void loop() { } However by the time I look at the serial monitor i get the message: Initializing SD card...initialization failed...Things to check: * is a card inserted? * is your wiring correct? * did you change the chipSelect pin to match your shield or module? Please help, I am new to coding and programming in general so I am not sure what is happening and assuming that it might be a hardware issue.

Hey guys, so the Steam Link is on sale for $20 USD at Amazon, I was planning on buying one, now I was wondering if I should get that or save and get a Shield. Is the steam link all one needs? I just want to stream the occasional game to the living room when I don't want to sit on my desk or something like that. What do you people think?

Disclaimer : While the first two devices are almost certainly coming (unless Nvidia pulls out a Shield Tablet X1-type move), the third one is just extrapolation based on previous news dating back to April 24th, and experience as to Nvidia’s method of announcing new Shield products. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we. On June 15th, XDA-Developpers reported that they had found a device codenamed “mdarcy” in "the Google Play Developer Consoles’ Device Catalogue". The product was supposed to boast the revised, shrunk-down version of the Tegra X1 found in the new Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite, the t210b01. What supports this is the fact that “mariko” is the codename for the t210b01 chip, and “darcy” is the device name for the 2017 Shield TV, and “mdarcy” is obviously a “darcy” device based on “mariko”. The device will likely have a smaller footprint conpared to the 2017 current-gen Shield TV, and could go fanless (I personally don’t back up this claim, as even the Nintendo Switch Lite, which consumes certainly less power than a fixed set-top-box, needs a fan and heatsink in order not to overheat, so imagine a device that would stay in your living room 100% of the time and that would have higher clock speeds in order to output 4K at 60fps… Yeaaah, it’s gonna be a no for me). But while we knew Nvidia was planning mdarcy, on August 5th, some new leaks coming directly from the related FCC filing by Nvidia have taught us that they’re planning a second Shield TV device codenamed “sif”. And unlike mdarcy, sif is supposedly the next-gen Shield TV. It is currently unclear which chip Nvidia chose for sif, but I would expect the Tegra X2 or the low-power version of the Tegra Xavier, since it will need to be more powerful than mdarcy (also, don’t trust the website when it says mdarcy and sif will share SoCs as their claim isn’t backed up by any source whatsoever and it simply doesn't make any sense). IO-wise, sif will apparently present no USB port (which I find quite strange and disappointing but oh well…) nor will it support/feature a TV tuner. Fast forward to the 30th of September, and mysmartprice.com reported that sif was just certified for Bluetooth 5.0 by the Bluetooth SIG, confirming what we know from the FCC filings and the Shield Experience 8,0 update. And we know the device concerned is not mdarcy because of the model number, that is to say P3430. The Bluetooth certification usually happening near the release date of new products, we can definitely expect the new Shield TVs some time soon, possibly before the end of the year (I really can’t imagine Nvidia unveiling these alongside the 1660ti Super, 1650ti and 1660 Super), or Q1 2020 (although I have no clue as to why they would do that). Both Shield TVs will also likely come out with new accessories, two of which were leaked in March: a controller, “stormcaster”, and a remote, “friday”. But that’s only two devices, right? And I promised you three. So, the Shield 2-in-1 convertible tablet, codename “mystique”. I know, there haven’t been any more leaks pointing to a release being due for the same time frame as the two above (the only clue we got of the existence of such a product was on the 24th of April), however the thing is Nvidia has always released their Shield products all at the same time, and around that time of the year. Plus, it’s been 4 years since we last got a mobile device from Nvidia (NO, the Nintendo Switch DOESN’T COUNT), and more importantly, between April and present time, a game-changing event (for this device, at least ) occurred: Android 10 has dropped, and it features a desktop mode. You can see where this is going, right? I predict that if the tablet ever comes to exist, it will use it as following: when handheld (only the tablet, not the keyboard), it will run Android normally. But as soon as you’ll snap on the keyboard, it will switch to the desktop mode WHILE still outputting to the primary display, "Desktop" which is one of the three leaked modes Nvidia has worked on (more precisely, the “NVIDIA Desktop Experience”). From the April leak, you can also choose to activate a specific mode on start up. And with the new Surface line up just announced, I wonder if they’re not thinking about taking on Microsoft’s solution head to head before it is too late, as Microsoft plans to combine Android and Windws in one device. I REALLY hope mystique will come out before the end of the year alongside mdarcy and sif, so we can finally have a decently-priced top-spec Android tablet again (2015 vibes anyone?). Another thing I hope for is support for stormcaster with mystique, like the the precedent Shield Tablets have supported the STBs' controllers. WiFi 5 (802.11 ac if you prefer). So yeah, no WiFi 6, which isn't all that great (although users tend to prefer to connect SHIELD TVs via Ethernet). If it helps bringing the price down, like the absence of NFC on the Shield Tablet K1, then why not. No need for me to tell you the launch is nearing rapidly. My guess is Nvidia is targeting a release after the announcement at CES 2020, as other SHIELD TVs were announced there at that time of the year. By the way, we have a problem of conflicting sources here, as although I said sif was the device that was just certified, 9to5Google claims the model number P3430 (the model that got certified) refers to mdarcy, while literally every single other source has said P3430 was in fact sif. And by reading their article, it seems as though they don't know about sif's (or simply the other SHIELD TV in the works) existence. New sources : https://www.wi-fi.org/product-finder-results?keywords=P3430 https://9to5google.com/2019/10/03/nvidia-shield-tv-dongle-bluetooth-certification-android-pie/ (Take this one with a pinch of salt, like the mysmartprice link)

Hi everyone, I've been reading my fair share of posts and can't seem to find existing advice that works for me. Being a NAS/Server noob it might also be my lack of understanding. To offer some context, I recently bought a LG 55C8 with the idea to be enjoy & stream 4k content using Plex Media Server. I currently own a Nvidia Shield Pro and I have to admit it's a strong disappointment. It does it job with 1080p content if you get passed the bugs, freezes, laggy android interface and if Plex doesn't crash as well. However, when it comes to 4k content, it's like playing russian roulette. One piece of content might work one day and the same content will make Plex and the whole Shield crash the next day. Very frustrating. FYI, I only use my Shield for Plex. Overall I feel I'm better off building a dedicated and more stable config that would store and manage my media and can be controlled by my laptop through WiFi (storage mgmt, file transfer etc...). I mainly stream video content (file size between 2gb and 20gb) as well as high res lossless audio. FYI, I don't require to stream multiple files at the same time. Transcoding one 2160p or 1080p at the time. NAS configs seem to be ideal when it comes to storage, I'm however doubtful for 4K transcoding without spending my money on a premium set. Below my questions, Can I find something below $500 ? What brand do I need to look at? A lot of NAS have dual or quad-core Intel Celeron processors. Is that good enough? Do NAS with GPU exist? If my NAS is used for storage, is it better to run PMS on it or through a 3rd party? Knowing that I will probably use the Plex App on AppleTV or LG WebOs to stream the content. If my TV, Apple TV and NAS are all connected directly to a smart switch I suppose I will be able to use to full extend of an internal Gigabit speed? Looking forward for getting help and advice on this.

Hey All, I picked up an Nvidia Shield Portable awhile back and am now setting up gamestream. I have my PC and router on the same router (Shield on 5Ghz Band). On my PC I have tested this with firewall off (Win Defender) as well and still not detected. I have tried methods in both links below, any ideas are appreciated. I have uninstalled Razer Synapse as well because apparently theres an issue with it? Any Tips are appreciated, I really want this to work. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4058/~/troubleshooting-tips-for-gamestream https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/766092/shield-tablet/no-gamestream-ready-pcs/post/4280581/#4280581 Currently I press the gamestream PC's button, and it shows no results. I have tried manually entering my own IP and also PC Name as well and neither worked.

As I live in a temporary place right now, I don't have time to buy foam panels. So I am going with this Isolation shield for a temporary option. But I need to find a mic stand that supports this isolation shield. I have been trying to find a video that uses this shield but they never put the mic stand in the description. I was also wondering if someone can help me find a shock mount that works with the isolation shield as well! I have an AT2020 XLR microphone. Any help is greatly appreciated!

So I was looking at a Nvidia Shield TV to stream games (Forza Motorsport 7 and possibly Star Wars Battlefront) to a living room tv. However, there is a good Cyber Monday deal for the Xbox One s which makes it about the same $ as the Shield. With a good computer to stream to the shield (the computer is connected with WiFi and the Shield would be ethernet), which one would make more sense/be faster.

Hello beautiful people. I have this issue where every time I turn on my PC, after about 20 to 30 minutes this process starts (InstallShield Update Service, when I look it up in the task manager it's issch.exe). When this process starts, it takes about 2GB of VRAM from my graphics card. I noticed this because I had bad gaming performance (before, this didn't happen). When I end the task, the GPU's VRAM goes back to normal, and the PC works normally. Games run fine. I've had this issue for about a week, and I have to end that process every time because if I don't the FPS go to hell. Notice in the images I uploaded the GPU's video memory used. The first picture is when I just turn on the pc. The VRAM usage is at about 100 megs. When I open google chrome it goes to about 200, wich is normal. I leave the PC for about half an hour and the process starts and takes up about 2GB of video memory, and uses some of my CPU as well. Then i show that when I end the process it goes back to normal. Thank you very much for any feedback. The problem is partially solved because whenever this happens I just end the task and everything works fine until I reboot. This happens every time I turn on my PC. I've tested it at least five times.

source: http://www.androidauthority.com/nvidia-shield-tablet-k1-successor-looks-scrapped-709375/ the tablet market was a bubble that bursted, as expected dismissal letter: https://fccid.io/pdf.php?id=3094244 --- how many of you actually own a tablet and still use it? I own one and I barely use it
