I think we all had that moment in our lives when we have a bad day or week, we get home sit in front of our PC/Console and relax with our favourite game and after a few quests or blowing things up with friends, life doesn't seem so bad. In March 2019 I was having a "bad day" After fighting my wife's illness along side her for 20 years watching the medication that kept her alive slowly destroy her body we lost the fight in November of 2018 3 days after my birthday, not only was I broken apart by grief but also (undiagnosed at the time) Higher functioning Autism, Bi-polar type 2, ADHD and soon to come PTSD, the disability payments that helped pay the bills (my own issues meaning a full time job was impossible) were stopped the day she died, income went from 1300 to 500 per month, in one day without notice, mum finally entered end stage dementia and 7 days after my Wife died I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, spent Christmas of 2018 in hospital (same hospital my wife died 5 weeks before) having 40% of my Bowels removed, no cure for me either, CT scan every 6 months and blood works just because I developed nodules in my lungs which could go either way. 3 months later and no family visit, 5 consultants trying to keep me alive as quite rationally I didn't see the point of going on especially with PTSD kicking in which meant I had the happy fun addon of experiencing my Wife's death 3-6 times a day every day in full colour and sound while I rolled into a ball on the floor. Pretty much a sucky day lasting 20 odd years with the last 30 mins being the worse. No one would have blamed me for ending it, there is only so many days you can experience the death of your loved on before it wears you down to nothing especially with almost no support except a few online friends keeping an eye on me. March came around and I started to say goodbye to everyone, Doctors had me on suicide watch, Samaritans actually rang me each week to see if I was still alive, I had a plan and my last act was going to be watching End game then have my own end game. My last act was going to be loading up all my Wife's and mine favourite games, the ones we played together, just take a last walk about, visit all the places we did. Days away from the end I logged on to The Division and as I closed the client it came up with an advertisement for The Division 2, had nothing to loose nothing to do that night, so I bought the ultimate edition and logged in curious to see what changes they had made to a favourite game of ours in the sequel. Something amazing happened, the next morning when I woke, I had the urge to log back on. I did a post on reddit that blew up when I thanked the developers for saving my live. Well that post and the amazing support given to me, people convinced me to vlog and stream because even though I was enjoying TD2 it was triggering my ptsd and other issues badly. But something about being online, about being focused on a camera actually helped. I bought my first webcam and mic on the 23rd March 2019. My consultants and Sr psychologist stopped expecting me to be dead by the next visits, I went down from Five different people to one and he wants to come visit me after covid to co-write a paper on using technology and games as an alternative therapy to medication and hospital stay. Just over two years later, yes I may end up stuck in this house for the rest of my life but I am still here, todays streams and vlogs will take the count up to 2940 videos, oh I will always be a very minor person on Youtube and Twitch, 1050 people following me on YT 1200 on Twitch, but it doesn't even matter if no one watches one of my streams or vlogs they still get uploaded and someone will watch them one day. my content is uncut, unedited and very raw (my version of autism means I have no filter between my brain and mouth) on the plus side a few people seem to like my honesty and willingness to talk about anything, as I put it, what is the point in telling you I am having a good day if you don't get to know when I am wrecked and having a bad day, I variety stream because my brain can't lock into one game, and even if I have 500 hours in a game, I can still forget how to shoot or access inventory multiple times a game. And some of the amazing things is when someone leaves a comment on a video letting me know I inspired them, when I do a live cooking video and someone says "hi I'm going to make this for a girl I like" or "after your talk about what really matters in life I won't be on tonight, taking my mum to the cinema" If I have a really bad time then VR helps also. Currently going through some "issues" but things will work out. For some of us with disabilities, mental issues and other problems gaming and technology is more than a hobby, it is life support and I wouldn't be here without it. If anyone wants to know more about this or how specific types of technology or games help in different ways feel free to ask talking about these things is good.

Lately, I have been dwelling on a subject that has been bothering me in regards to gaming and how much money I spent on it. With the emulators for the Wii U and the PS3 making the progress they have in such a short period of time, (so quick, that ATLUS is making a big deal out of the potential RPCS3 has to hurt the game's sales) as well as certain games coming to non-exclusive platforms (Killer Instinct 3) I have to ask: what is the point of the media center console anymore other than to function as a glorified DVD player that happens to have some exclusive games? About the only thing that you can lay claim to is convenience and not having to worry about controllers locking up Steam after closing a game (why does Steam do that?) or having to worry about whether your system is strong enough to play certain games, and it being relatively easier to bring to a friends house. You can say exclusives for systems that haven't been emulated yet like the PS4 and the Switch, but let's be honest: outside of some games that I'd be reaching to reference that are not titled Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, or the Last of Us Part II, I don't see much else that is an actual exclusive to the system. So that we're clear on definitions here: exclusive means it has no official port to any other system, PC included. Here's all of the other PS4 "exclusives" that have a version for either the previous gen systems or PC: Persona 5, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, (those two's PS3 versions didn't come out over here, but it still isn't an actual exclusive in my book) Beyond: Two Souls, Gravity Rush, Journey, the Danganronpa games, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XV, any of the deluge of ports (*cough* ahem, I mean, remasters) and almost all of the indie games guaranteed to be on PC or other systems in some form or another. Of all of the specific examples listed here, that only leaves 4 actual exclusives for the PS4, with the last one not even being out yet, and around 10 games for the crossplatform/crossgenerational releases. Yeah, some of the crossplats/crossgens or categories of games I mentioned here may have bad PC ports, if they have one at all, but that's not the point: even if a PC port is bad, someone will eventually develop an emulator that, as long as the developers keep revising and updating said emulator, the games will be playable forever in one form or another. Not to mention, how many of these games are a part of one of those "played one game, played them all" franchises? For example, I beat the original version of Yakuza 2 for the PS2. I decided that, since I heard that the other games (that aren't remakes of older games or spinoffs) had recaps so I could follow the plot without having to play the other games, and that it's a yearly series in Japan, I decided to jump into the latest game that was available to me at the time: the 5th game, in 2017, a game from 5 years ago whose localization didn't make it over here until after three years of it's original release date in 2012. (WARNING: this one does not recap the previous games) The fighting is better, but still mostly the same (though there is more than just one playable character) there is pop-in everywhere, and the frame rate struggles to maintain 30fps. Same goes for Persona 5, though from what I've seen, that one looks like a massive improvement over the repetitive borefest that was the PS2 Persona games, IMHO. (I liked the story, characters, and music, but the "dungeon" in Persona 3 wore its welcome out quickly when nothing was happening in the game, and social link stuff was for NG+ for all practical intents and purposes, and Persona 4 was better, but still somewhat repetitive, and the cutscenes tended to drag) Now, with Yakuza 0 and the remake of 1 on PS4, since those games were originally made for PS3, they run much better at a smooth 60fps on the Slim...something that could be achieved if you play through the games when RPCS3 inevitably is able to emulate the PS3 better with all of the bells and whistles that Dolphin and PCSX2 have and know how to use cheats or patches to have the games run at a frame rate they weren't originally set to run at and if you have the hardware to do so. That sounds like a lot more work than just buying the system and playing it on there, but let's think about it: how much money do you save by not buying a game console? Maybe it's just because I'm about to make a big financial commitment (car or college), but these thoughts have had me looking at how much dust my consoles have collected lately and going "yeah, I'm selling this soon." Yeah, you have to buy a lot of equipment to rip the images of the games off their original cartridges, discs, or whatever storage medium, but once they're on your hard drive, and if you're good at backing things up, you ain't losing those files any time soon. That, combined with the big backlog of games I have, makes the question of "Why should I buy this console for a handful of games when I have 50+ games on Steam I could be playing instead," even if some of those games I bought in collections aren't games I have any desire to play anytime soon. (i.e. I bought the first three Far Cry games plus Blood Dragon even though I have no desire to play the first one and especially the second one if the glitches I've heard about that game are true) Now, with the Switch, even though I think it's a marvelous idea with a flawed execution, (32GB of storage, the cartridge tax, the various hardware issues regarding the joy-cons, the Switch online app, and the dubious future for ports of third party games that aren't indie games just to list a few) as long as Nintendo doesn't try to innovate for innovation's sake, they may have a concept that I have been wanting for a long time: portable gaming on the go that's very comparable to playing games on set top consoles. We haven't seen anything like that I can remember other than maybe the Sega Nomad from way back then, even if the Energizer bunny had a hand in the portable marvel's (for the time) development. The only thing that could trip them up would be if the GPD can make a better version of the GPD Win that has actual, clickable joysticks and at the very least a GPU worth mentioning would be good enough to be capable of playing even most of the 7th gen if not all of it. I know that sounds ambitious, but some people like yours truly don't just sit at home anymore, and the idea of a console you can easily bring with you and can easily play games with one other person with is so cool to me, and I am always tempted to get the Switch, but decide to wait until I have sold my other non-PC systems first. Not to mention, I can take the Switch anywhere with me to play the game if I'm waiting at the doctor's office or something. After that comprehensive wall of text, I must ask: what is the point of the set top box console that is an "all-in-one" entertainment hub now that most of everything is digital when, if you want a Blu-ray or whatever form of storage media becomes popular in the future, you can just get a device that costs less than a used slim PS3? tl;dr - with most of the games being available for PC these days, and considering how the PS4 and XBone are essentially the PS3.5 and the Xbox 360.5(?) using proprietary hardware based off of chips used in actual desktops and their game library, what is the point of consoles now that aren't portable?

Disclosure- I tried to install some paid software for free which I agree is a bad move so no rude comments please. After installing software, I went on chrome and tried to search something up, It searched on yahoo and every time I tried to go on YouTube, support.google.com or accounts.google.com (And other google websites) It couldn't reach ip address. Later I realised that google.com was unlocked but it was the Indonesia version. After trying some other forums I got recommended malware bytes which showed and "quarantined" files, then I deleted them but nothing happened to google chrome, I still got redirected to yahoo every time I searched on it and google was still in Indonesian google. I cant log in and cant go on YouTube or google support. I am using Microsoft edge but I don't think I can last any longer. Please help? Btw yes I have tried re installing chrome. If possible, I want to avoid resetting the computer as I have many games and files I spent some time on.

Let's think about it. They already have a great CDN. They have the hosting power, and they know where to find advertiser. I can't seem to find a reason why they cant make a very great youtube competitor. I am surprised they haven't tried anything like this. What do you guys think? I want this to be a serious discussion.

The serious style Berkle used in this video really resonated with the people in the YT comments, and I agree. What does everyone on the LTT forums think? Personally, while silly Berkle is fun and we get a lot of that from Channel Super Fun, I actually thought Berkle's presentation was really good here. He explained his gear in a way that I could understand what it was and why he used it, without going into Brandon-depth levels of information. While Brandon is a great resource for those who are camera enthusiasts and pros, Nick explained camera gear to an average Joe like me.

I'm having major problems with my personal build. I built my own system about 7-8 months ago and it's been working perfectly fine until earlier today. All of a sudden my screens went black and it turned off and wouldn't restart at all. I opened the case and tried again the gpu fans spin once and then nothing. I have tried removing everything from the case and tested a new power supply with one stick of ram and the system turned on without my ssd or any other hard drives plugged in. However when I went and plugged in my ssd and then turned it on again the sata cable on both the motherboard and ssd end sparked up with smoke. I was wondering if anyone knew what I should do from here. Seriously worried that the whole system may be dead. Thanks for any help ill list the specs below. MSI X99S SLI PLUS MSI GTX 970 i7 5820k 4x4gb corsair Vengeance ddr4 250gb crucial ssd H110 cooler Silverstone 800w gold plus psu Again I really appreciate any help.

Now this is a serious question, so I would like to ask for a serious answers. I'm truly not looking to offend anyone and am genuinely curious about this. <Disclaimer> First of all, I would like to explain that by feminists I mean the stupid/crazy kind, the ones who scream rape when a male looks or whistles at them, the whales who parade around naked with "I'm beautiful" written on them, that kind of people. By no means do I want to disregard the actual problems that exist in our current world (eg: IS(IS)'s rape of whole villages, the acid 'showers' in India and actual rape). No, I'm talking about complete ignorance and crowd/sheep mentality of the western part of the world. </Disclaimer> I first started wondering about this after the whole GamerGate conundrum, the outcry about not having female characters in Unity and the general rise of (stupid) feminism across the USA, the rest of the world and, perhaps especially, the internet. My curiosity arose even more after (this being a trend) Bethesda's E3 presentation, which showed that they went great lengths to give players the ability to play as a female character. Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT against it. I'm all for it actually, the more choice the better. Besides, there are and will be some great games starring female characters, Lara Croft being a prime example, and Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerrilla Games being an upcoming one... (And, if I'm honest, who wants to stare at a dude's ass for hours at a time (if playing a 3rd person game, when you can stare at the backside of a hot chick.) WHY DO PEOPLE AND/OR COMPANIES CARE ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE OPINIONS? Let me explain my train of thought - those people are the vocal minority. Let them shout and think whatever the fuck they want, just walk past and continue doing whatever you did before... Why care in the first place? In my case, if one would to approach me I'd say not interested and continue on my merry way. If they get touchy, calling the police + filming for evidence is always an option. The same thought goes to companies, especially tech-related ones: those people were not nor ever your customers in the first place. Why do you care about their, often uninformed and even worse, ignorant, opinions? I mean yes, PR is one thing, but your actual customers are already aware of what do you, or will, more often than not do research. It's honestly getting out of hand, and I'm really scared to see what will happen in the following months and/or years if the trend continues. EDIT: PLEASE, please don't turn it into a flame war or start throwing accusations. I want informed, explained opinions.

Hey LTT forum! This is my first topic on here (hope I've posted in the right section!) and I'm looking for help with choosing what to upgrade with/to. WHAT I CURRENTLY HAVE: WHAT I WANT TO DO: I want to be able to do mainly 1080p (maybe 1440p) gaming on good settings and also have the threads and raw power to do advanced video editing. I'm thinking that I should go with a 4690k and a decent z97 board, probably ATX, (but I like the idea of having a really small PC) with some AIO liquid cooler for OC'ing. I'll stay with the 680 and I'm not sure what to do with the 650Ti. Maybe I could use it for its CUDA cores, rendering video while I can be gaming? I definitely won't be able to do this upgrade for at least another month, but it's good to start planning the upgrade early.

^ Dear MSi!\n\nI\'ve just purchased two N780 Lightning VGA cards today to run them in SLI.\nSLI is working fine, however, in the VGA Fan Control software that is supposed to control the 3+3 fans on the cards, I can only control one card\'s fans. When using Afterburner I can only turn the 2+2 side fans up on the two cards, which is disappointing because since I\'m running in SLI I need all the cooling options that I can get.\nPlease, provide me with a solution that I can control all of the fans of both cards with.\nAlso, I can\'t register my cards, the website won\'t accept my legit serial number (from the sticker on the side of the box). What should I do?\n\nThank you in advance, kind regards,\ Dear sir/madam Thanks for contacting MSI technical support. Regarding your concern, I am so sorry that we have no ideal about this.If the two CARDS with SLI,I think that as long as it can adjust the first a graphics card fan speed.it is OK.so I am so sorry that I cannot help you. Thanks for your cooperation in advance! Best Regards, MSI Technical Support Team Dear MSI! I\'m afraid I can\'t accept your answer. I\'ve bought two products that you have manufactured. I\'d like to utilize both of my products to their full extent, and I can\'t do that due to sotware limitations on your part. The correct way of fixing this problem is fixing your software. N780 Lightning has been out for quite a few months, many are using two of these cards in SLI. I\'m not the first one to bring this topic up, and it\'s unresolved. 1. Afterburner should be able to control all the fans on both cards, even seperately - you\'ve actually promised to make Afterburner support the N780 Lightning card, but truly it\'s not supported because of this 2. If Afterburner, for any reason, wouldn\'t control the card to it\'s full extent, the included VGA Fan Control software should be able to do it. It does - but doesn\'t contol a second card. You product\'s box clearly says that it\'s capable of running in an SLI configuration, but your software still won\'t support it. I think that would be an unfair business practice and misleading, false advertising, because the software that\'s supposed to control the card is clearly not ready for using two of them in SLI. I\'m asking you to, please, provide me with a solution that can reliably control these two cards\' cooling in SLI. To help you out, for some reason your software actually sees my second (bottom) card, not the top one. Couldn\'t it be done by some tweak that your VGA Fan Control software would control both cards at the same time with the same settings? I\'d be happy with this solution. Thank you E-mail a week later: Your issue has been closed.

I really enjoyed watching this video. Partly because it is right for too many people. Partly because I succeeded (even though I can't technically succeed). Partly because I know others need to watch this video. So, here it is: Just thought I'd share. What do you guys think? Did you win? Lose? Did it make a difference, or do you think it will? No crap-posting responses please. If I wanted those, I'd have put this in off-topic. It fits in General Discussion because it has everything to do with technology and the internet. "He who dares, wins." - Sgt. Iroquois Pliskin TL;DW: You lose. /TL;DW What do you guys think? Are you addicted to content? Even content you hate (pewdiepie fans come to mind personally)? How painful is it to be bored? Personally, I don't get bored. I've built a system in my head for dealing with it basically. That's why I said I can't succeed. If I watch that video and I get bored, I keep watching the video, but in a different way. i.e. I focus on different things (what color his glasses were, what the clock said, what kind of suit he was wearing, etc.) and then once I run out of things to do there, I consider the thoughts the video brings up, i.e. "Am I addicted to media? If not, why? If so, why? How can I change if I'm something I don't want to be? etc etc." Basically, I believe I have a mild form of ADHD that spurs my brain into thinking a lot and effectively "entertaining itself constantly" when content isn't being supplied to it. This means I either am content being bored, or never bored.
