  1. So I'm going to be buying two vega's and putting them under water, my psu is pretty kick ass and can handle it...but I remember reading in the manual that I shouldn't use the PCI-e cords with 2 plugs on them if the card consumes more than 250w and I should use two separate wires. but two of my cords are normal, and the other two have 8 extra pins....is it still safe to just use the one wire to get rid of clutter? or should I just suck it up and stop bitching? Normally I would just use the one wire, but liquid vega consumes a lot of power. PSU for reference https://seasonic.com/product/x-1250/ I guess a better question would be...how much power can a single cable have going through it without issues? I already know that 1 8 pin supports 150w and that my psu is sharing the same rail for almost everything....so I shouldn't be worrying about anything. is it ok to have 300w going through one cable? or should I divide it.
  2. I have Seasonic S12 II 520 PSU, it is bronze rated, and high tier PSU, but i dont know if it can handle r5 1600 and gtx 1080?
  3. Hi, I have a Seasonic M12II-750 EVO, but compared to the rest of my system, this seems to be making a lot of noise and I was wondering is there a way to reduce that? It is currently mounted with the fan pointing downwards. Is is possible that it will make less noise if it is upwards for some reason? Also I have seen this video where the guy simply removes the fan grill - is this worth doing? P.S. Sure, I could have tried these options before asking, but because I am lazy and if any of you have already tried this, please let me know of the results or any other ideas/tricks that you know of
  4. Hi guys, I would like to get some advice about my recent build. Specs: -Asus z170 ProGaming -I7 7700K -2 * 8gb Corsair vengeance DDR4 @3000mhz -1080Ti Strix OC 11Gb -Kraken X62 -Samsung SSD 500GB evo 840 -2 HDD's (2 & 3 TB green WD's) -Seasonic X560 -3*140mm fan + 1 120mm fan So, I renewed all except for the MOBO, RAM and PSU. Now I've encounter some issues which might happening because of the PSU. Especially GPU driver failures. So, before buying a new one, what wattage would you guys rate my system? I see a max powerdraw out of the wallsocket of 510watt and an average, while gaming 1440P AAA titles 400-450watts. I know it is a bit on the high side for the Seasonic X560 but I think it can handle those amps without a problem. So, question is: what wattage would you rate my system and what powersupply (wattage - brand - why) would you advice? If I must buy a new one I lean towards Seasonic again. thanks
  5. So i have a build that i plan on buying but i still dont know what psu to buy chose i dont want my 1300$ pc just to burn because of a bad psuthis is the build:Intel i7-7700kCooler Master - Seidon 240V Liquid AIOGigabyte GA-Z270X ultra gaming ATXCorsair Vengeance LPX 16(2x8) 2666 mhz Seagate - Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Gigabyte GTX 1060 9GBPS Aorus editionIll probably buy the Thermaltake view 31 TG RGB caseSo i only need the psuI was thinking of maybe buying : Fotron Hyper 700w M or maybe a 600w Super flower golden green 650w 80+ gold / 750w 80+ goldFortron napajanje Raider S PSU 750W,80+ SILVERbecause ill probably OC i was thinking buying like 650+ or 700w PSUbut im still new to pcs and still learning so i just need some help with choosing the right PSu
  6. I just bought a Seasonic X-650 power supply. My old (crap) power supply has a voltage switch to suit different voltages in different countries, but this unit doesnt have one. Instead, it just says "Input Voltage: 100-240VAC". Checked the user manual, and there's nothing about input voltage. Should I just plug everything in as if it automatically adapts to the input? The voltage here is 220V AC btw.
  7. This is a simple mod. I replaced my factory Seasonic PSU fan with a Corsair ML120 White LED fan. In my opinion the LED load of the case was a little unbalanced. I decided to try to add an LED fan to replace my existing Seasonic factory unit. First step was to remove the Power Supply and old fan. Oh, you will void your warranty, so don't mess up. Disconnect the fan cable from the header inside the power supply. There are only two cables. A Ground and a +12V. You will be removing some unnecessary cables from the new LED fan. You only need the +12V and Ground wires. The other two are for the PWM signal and a tach wire so your motherboard knows the RPM of the fan. Cut the two wires far enough away from the plug so you give yourself plenty of room to work. Remember to transfer that small piece of plastic to the new fan. Grab either some solder or some wire connectors. I chose to solder my wires but there are always options. If you soldered your wires, remember to add heat shrink or your gonna have a bad time. Reconnect the cable to the PSU and reinstall the cover. Reinstall the PSU, sit back and enjoy the glory of a much quieter and much brighter fan. IMHO, this mod really did a lot to balance out the LEDs in the case. I really don't want to go the RGB route and this was a fun little Saturday project. Thanks for checking out my post. Leave any questions or comments, I'll get to them.
  8. So i desided to downgrade my pc a bit in size and airflow.I have an I7 7700k and have bought a matx mb together with a Cooler master hyper 412S, a bit cooler and max noise is also lower than the famous hyper 212 evo/x (didn't cost me anything to downgrade to since i sold my cpu cooler and mb for no less than what i bought).I like this cooler but i notice som weak click noise from the fan, mabye i have to make the fan curve more even at low rpm, i don't know (have set it in the bios to dc).Any recommendation for a better sounding cooler master fan if that maske any sense (don't care about the fan being dc or pwm) Cooler Master Silencio FP 120 PWM or the 3pin,dc version? (little more cheaper than the pwm)? Atm no problems with noise and don't notice any click noise with my door to my porch open,it's chilly.I want a smaller matx case, i would prefer one that i can use with my Supernova 1000P2 (it's big) i want to use my dvd drive and one with slightly better airflow than a define r5 for 100€ ,110$If it's not possible to find a good matx case that supports 200mm psu i would like your opinion on which is best, most slilent, a Seasonic G660 or corsair RM650X, if size is the same i would have chosen the RM750X since the fan first starts above 300 watt.
  9. Greetings! This is the start of my new project with the name of Monore. This project is going to be based in the Jonsbo UMX3 case and the whole build will circle around its clean & sleek look. I would like to start with a huge thank you to my sponsors for this project. Ocaholic Seasonic Jonsbo Gigabyte Noctua The Components: MOBO: Gigabyte Z170M-D3H CPU: Intel i7 6700k GPU: GTX 980Ti RAM: Kingston 4x4GB DDR4 SSD: TBA PSU: Seasonic Snow Silent 1050W CASE: Jonsbo UMX3 FANS: Noctua COOLING: Bitspower & Watercool The Project: This build is going to consist of various modifications, although some of them may not be declared at this time, this PC is going to stand in as my editing/main computer, therefore it will be equipped with high-end hardware and a full watercooling loop to keep the temperatures low. The case bottom compartment is going to be remodelled to house a 240mm radiator, a vented shroud is going to cover this part to keep the case as simplistic as possible. As I might run into trouble with the PSU mounting method with my ambitions for the case, this will most likely be altered too. Numerous small covers and shrouds are going to be created around the build to soften the esthetics of the build, as I want it to be elegant and simplistic. The colortheme for this build is going to be a bit interesting. I've chosen to go for a full black build with accents of beige (As in Noctua's fan frames). The PSU from Seasonic will be getting sleeved in beige and black aswell to fit the build even further. My plans are to paint and modifiy the outsides of the PSU to get rid of the white panels. As I stated earlier, many of the modifcations are not 100% decided at this time as a lot of ideas evolve as the build is being created. That's all for my introduction, here are a few pictures of the base components of this build! That is all for this introduction, next week will be packed with a more ellaborate view of the case and hopefully a few other components. See you then! -August Lindgren

  11. Hello LTT community: I've been experiencing random shutdowns of my PC. It's an i5 6600K (with a CM V8 GTS cooler) , 16GB Corsair Vengeance LED, a MSI GeForce GTX 1080, and two hard drives (a Samsung 850 Evo SSD and a WD Caviar Black) on an Asus Z170 Sabertooth Mark 1 which gets power from a Seasonic M12II 750w PSU. The thing is that I built this PC back in October 2016 and I did not have any problem at all with it. I game on it (Doom, Forza Horizon 3, Planet Coaster, etc) and so far everything was perfect until I installed the Windows 10 Creators Update. When I did so I started experiencing these random shutdowns. It would randomly restart, sometimes when I get into the logon screen, sometimes when I got into the desktop, sometimes after a couple of minutes... I got to run a "sfc /scannow " from recovery command line and it found no problems. I finally ended up rolling back to the previous version of Windows 10 and now its more stable, but It keeps shutting down and restarting randomly rarely and It's so annoying. I've changed three things on my PC recently: 1) The one that made it more evident: The Creator's Update 2) I have a Logitech G19 keyboard. I put a script on it to make it change colors automatically. (No way this could be causing my entire pc to shutdown but... one does not know) 3) I recently changed my monitor to a LG 24MP88HV-S. I don't want to think that my PSU is faulty. I do have my PC connected to a power strip where I do have all the other accesories connected (Monitor, Speakers, Keyboard) Maybe I should try replacing the power cable or even the power strip.

I'm back with another update, still waiting on a few bits from Gigabyte. But that will hopefully arrive next week. I've been doing some fiddling with the case and ran into a few snags. The PSU is a bit longer than what's appropriate for the case, so I will have to redo the front IO on the case to make everything fit. Other than that, everything's going as planned. There are a few rivets that I'll have to drill out before I can pull the bottom compartment out, but that shouldn't take long. I test fitted the PSU and all the fans and I must say I'm loving the look. Although disregard the brown paint on the Noctua fans as that is going to be replaced with either a high gloss or a matt black finish. the PSU will be recieving this paintjob aswell. I'm thinking of redoing the original fan grills than are included in the case, one 140mm grill on the top of the case and a 120mm one in the back. my idea is to make either a clean brushed aluminium grill or a honeycomb styled one that would pair nicely with the grill on the PSU. Here are a few pictures! That's all for this update, thank you all for tuning in. see you next week!
  14. This is actually a really good deal that I just passed by while looking at PCPP. The 520w S12ii (AKA the PSU that a lot of people recommend when you're on a budget) is currently only $30 after mail-in rebate on newegg right now! https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817151094
  15. So I wanted to build a pc. I am going to use A Ryzen R5 1600 CPU and 2 Galax (KFA2) GTX 1070. I also planning to OC the cpu (around 3.8 - 4.0 GHz, Going to use Deepcool Captain EX 240 AIO) So now i wanted to ask something, is 650W Seasonic X Series PSU is enough?? If not, should i buy EVGA G2 750W or Seasonic X-750?
  16. 1) Which one is better ? 2) Better Warranty? I will be running Ryzen 1800x & 1070 Amp Extreme.
  17. Is This power supply good? It is in the third tier, so I'd it safe to use? Can I buy This instead, will it be a good idea?
  18. SeaSonic M12II 520W fully modular vs SeaSonic S12II 620W non-modular the 520W one is about a US$5 bump in price. However, i am looking to make my build really nice looking and i am not going to be overclocking that much so i was thinking to get the 520W. also, what is the difference in the m12II and S12II versions? Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/sakgoy2001/saved/sHwK8d
  19. The Seasonic S12II is a pretty solid PSU for the money. Seasonic reliability, amazing price, and enough wattage for pretty much everything a budget-concious gamer needs. Heck, I own a M12II (non EVO) myself, and I run a freaking 1070 and an OC'd 4670K off it. But there's two revisions of the S12II, a v1 and a v2, with the v2 having one seemingly minor difference that may confuse a lot of people. So what's the difference? Instead of 1x6+2 and 1x6 pin PCI-E, it has 2x6+2. And the cables are flat and black like the M12II, and there's an updated internal design. How do I tell? v1 will just have a fan on top, no grille v2 has a honeycomb grille on top and looks almost like a different unit, as well as flatter black cables. The v1 has sleeved Yellow and Red cables. Why does this post exist? Because builds with aftermarket 1070s and R9 Furies are popping up powered by the S12II. But while it shows up on PCPP that the S12II has two 6+2pins, not all units do, and usually when retailers put it on sale they want to clear old v1 stock. I wrote this bored at a bus stop on my phone, so mind any spelling/grammatical errors.
  20. hey guys what do you think about : https://www.amazon.it/XFX-P1-500B-XTFR-500W-alimentatore-computer/dp/B01AK9NPCA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1489401933&sr=1-1&keywords=xfx+500 do you know some good budget case ? I decided to look for other PSUs that are not EVGA and when I clicked titanium and I noticed the Seasonic Prime Titanium 750w which is quite cheap at £115 which I think is a good deal for a titanium PSU compared to EVGA. and I heard that seasonic is a good company that make PSUs so is it any good compared to EVGA g2s?
  22. I have not seen many reviews or opinions on this PSU as I like to see a couple to three reviews before i make my mind up. I am thinking about replacing my Corsair RM550 as i think it may be to blame for my 1070 Strix and machine blue screening when overclocking my 1070. My old 970 Strix didn't blue screen when i had it. Im thinking about getting a second GPU as well in order to test if it is my GPU pulling too much power. How good a PSU is it? Or should i just get a 750W PSU from Corsair? Thanks in advance.
  23. Hey guys, I recently upgraded my PC except for my graphics card. So I was wondering... in the event I go completely crazy and purchase 2 GTX 1080's and decide to put them in SLI, is a Seasonic X-850 enough for the whole system? (It also has an i7 6700K overclocked to 4,6 GHz). Not saying I will end up doing that but just to have an idea of the upgrade paths this PSU can ultimately allow me to go with.
  24. There's a post in Cases and Power Supplies but I figured I'd do one with TNR formatting. Sources: EVGA and Seasonic have announced new PSUs that are targeted at the budget to mid-range market, finally after years upon years of reign of the now venerable S12II and M12II old Seasonic models. This is all sorts of great, Super Flower is one of the best OEMs out there for PSUs. Of course I won't start giving them to people until reviews pop up. Besides them being fully modular, one amazing thing is their expected price: As for Seasonic, no photos, but a statement from their Press Releases. They don't speak of much details, but the press release suggests that they are trying to enter the market in force as their own brand, with Mainstream models in the Focus series and Entry-level ones in the Core series. Seasonic has yet to disappoint even in the entry-level market if you don't count the XT series from XFX, so I'm confident that these will be competitive. As a LTT user who has spent thousands of words convincing people to dish out the $15 more to get the good entry level PSU instead of the unreliable cost-down unit, I have a dream that one day we'll be able to give people reliable and good PSUs for very little money, so this announcement made me very happy. We hear a lot of talk of $200 units with 0% change in voltage and Unobtanium efficiency, but the people who've $200 aren't the people who need the better PSUs, it's the people who have $350 for their whole computer.
  25. Backstory: Upgrading + downsizing my rig So currently my best option for a case would be the SG13 as it is the smallest, decently-priced mITX case available here. However, my currrent PSU is a full 160mm fully-modular SeaSonic M12II. Do you think it'd fit? I noticed from this build they used an AX760i which is (AFAIK) also a full 160mm and fully-modular. For my CPU cooler, I'd be using the stock Intel HSF as I won't be OCing, Might upgrade into something better but this is not my priority atm.
