Hello, I'm going to sound like the biggest wuss ever but I need to update my bios for a certain update. Now I'm actually scared of doing this but I know what I'm doing. For some reason I think my power is going to suddenly go out and that's it for my motherboard even though it has a dual bios. Why am I like this, I don't understand why I can't bring myself to update the bios. Any ways on whihc I can reassure myself. Many Thanks, Fire!

So I needed to test if a gpu worked as it wasn't working in the other pc. I plugged it in and turnt it on and there was no display. So I unplugged it and turnt on the PC to use like before (with the integrated graphics). Now the integrated graphics isn't working. Did my gpu just murder my pc?

Hey guys, so I am building my first PC after using a prebuilt for years. Went on ebay, made a silly bid of $250 on a 3070 Ti Founders Edition. The seller confirmed my purchase for $220. I was super excited but now I am worried that it is going to be fake and I am stressing because ebay will not let me contact him for some reason. What is the chances I got scammed? I will update you all if anything changes.

yeah so basically i went to clean my pc today and i found a black spider with a red hourglass hanging out on my graphics card. it is now hanging around the cable management in the back and im petrified. i immediately closed the glass panel and im debating what to do. will heat kill the spider? how the hell did it get in there? what are my options here? so far ive turned off my fans and im benchmarking constantly to attempt to kill it with heat. Edit: I called pest control and after they removed the spider, I tore apart my pc, removed all the webs and I can confirm there are no eggs. I put it back together, closed my window (where I assume it came from) and I think we're good now. Thanks for the help y'all.

So i'm a new builder with little to no experience. I've had experience with replacing and adding new ram, GPU, hard-drives and cleaning parts with compressed air but that is about it. I've never attempted to build a computer from scratch, especially with the experiences I've had recently. I'm looking to get myself a new gaming PC, capable of running VR in the near future when i can afford a Oculus Rift after experiencing it for the first time on a Playstation 4. Since my current PC is beginning to become outdated, i thought now would be a good time after saving up around $1000AUD. The reason why i'm afraid is that my job isn't too well paying, and if i make a mistake such as mishandling a part, it'll be a long while before i can afford another part or multiple. I've looked at most of my options and tried to best with the skills I've accumulated over the years to make this list of compatible parts. Note - the prices aren't really exact on how much i'm looking to get the parts for, I've found other sources that aren't listed on the part picker site which are cheaper and come bundled with games. The Storage, Power Supply and WiFi-Adapter are coming from my current PC since they still work and function normally. So I was very scared to put my CPU/CPU cooler/RAM into my motherboard. What are the chance I broke something, I was using an anti-static band+I was using an anti static workstation. I think that I took all of the right precautions. Also I feel like I screwed in CPU cooler too tight. Is that possible? Thanks

Built my pc a few days ago and it was running fine! This morning I woke up and noticed my f audio wasn't in right, so i unplugged it and replugged it... Now my gpu isn't spinning or outputting a video to my TV? Any ideas? I didn't damage anything and it was off when I was messing with it. I also can't turn it off anymore it stays on. It's obviously working because my TV detects something and it doesn't display anything!

First of all I am shocked to see how much everything has changed since I built my last workstation in 2004. Back then CPU shopping seemed so much easier than it is now. And since then I have been mainly a Notebook user and Console touting gamer. I develop applications in VB.NET and enjoy doing it (but my day job keeps me impoverished) I have finally saved up $770 to build a new workstation and I want to buy Fallout 4 for it. Because OMG Fallout right? Now what scares me is CPU and GPU shopping. Back in my days I feel it was a lot simpler to shop on a budget but now I have too many options to narrow down anything worth while so I am reaching out. Ive done some homweork and found the following: New AMD 7300 series $99 with 6 cores, sounds great to me But then I find a Used i5 base workstation on Craigslist for $190 but I have no idea what generation these people are offering. Will I really see a huge difference to justify buying a $300 processor with my needs (or $190 used). I need to program, game, and transcode video/ audio I dont care about shaving seconds for $1,000s USD. All I care about is will it handle my needs and run my IDE responsiveness while I listen to music ETC. IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE A DECISION. Cpu boss is a slight help but I need to know the make, model, and generation. And above all else where is a repuatible source for CPU shopping? Im even considering taking a Xeon processor and building on that. I am open to all ideas. But please help a man pick a Processor Mobo and GPU. Ill do the rest.

One of my mutual "friend" invited me to skype call and he sent me my ip adress, he also took a screenshot of some DDosing client, what is the worst thing could happen, My ISP hopefully resets everything every month, so yeah (btw im very noob) EDIT: Also sent me some of my devices mac adress EDIT:So, I figured out that ISP can't change my IP will change when the lease expires, then I should be safe right?

First of. Hello It's about 5:45 in the morning and i decided to post this Before going to bed (been at work) So today i was shopping at a Swedish equivalent of walmart. and while i was waiting in line to buy a carton of smokes a baby made a noise behind me. Obviously this is not normally a problem. but this hellspawn behind me did not sound like a normal baby! It made almost exactly the same noise that the venomous headcrabs in half Life 2 makes! (that shrill effin scream thing!) I almost jumped straight out of my boots when i Heard that... And i spun around with a look of complete terror on my face.. only to be met by confused looks.. That felt like a perfect moment for the cliché Vietnam comment. "You dont know man! you weren't there!" And that got me thinking. Has anyone else had any game related scares irl? (you can add a funny non game related scare too if you want too ) Just thought i'd share this with you guys here in the off topic section. Picture is vaguely relevant

So I'v recently heard a lot about "APU's". Thinks it was just AMD rebranding a CPU, I ignored them. Recently however, I have seen builds even of £900 using these APU's. A week or two ago, I posted a build for someone on the Minecraft forums who had a $1500 budget, and wanted to run Crysis 2, Far Cry 3 on high to ultra settings. Me not having researched the APU, I stuck in an i5 and some more stuff to go with it. I got completely torn apart, being called a retard, a noob and one person went as far as to say that I should commit suicide. Whilst I ignored this, I felt confused because what I had known for so long, was now not true. So please can someone explain APU's to me, and other information related to them. Thank you!
