So I have a quest 2 and would really like to play some seated games using my KB&M that is connected to my PC that my headset is streaming from, I want to play using the headset as a larger screen/more immersion. only issue is when I open up something like Dota 2 its in my headsaet as a bigscreen but my mouse doesn't show up only the controllers do and they tend to be buggy when I'm in Bigscreen and trying to control Dota, So I would like to know how could I use a KB&M to play games like mobas and RTS which need QWER and things and quick reaction times faster than using a hand controller to try walk and press keys.

Would anyone like to do some Coop, either VS AI or matchmaking. Side note, any hopes for the eventual cheat units?

Budget (including currency): $1,400 USD (Preferably $1,000 - $1,200 Though) Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Primarily RTS Games (I.E. Civilization VI, The Total War Series, Panzer Corps 2, Company of Heroes 2, etc) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Only existing part is a Phanteks PH-ES614PC_BK ATX Full Tower Case. (But will happily take recommendations for other cases with great space and airflow! Must be a Full Tower) No new peripherals needed. Upgrading from an Alienware Area 51 from 2015. No set date to purchase or build. Display resolution is 2560 x 1600, 144hz. Howdy! I'm currently looking to build a new PC to replace an old Alienware Area 51 for a family member, with an aim to play RTS games as smoothly as possible. My maximum budget is around $1,400 but I'd prefer to keep it lower than that if possible. As for any part preferences, I would prefer Intel for the CPU and Nvidia for the GPU, but I'll happily take recommendations for other manufacturers if the cost - performance ratio is better. I would also prefer a motherboard with integrated WI-FI and NVME support. I'm aiming to make this system relatively future-proof (I know that's wishful thinking in the computer world) as I don't want to have to worry about upgrading anything in this for a long while. I hope I've been able to provide sufficient information, but if not I will answer any questions to the best of my ability. I thank you for taking the time to read this and greatly appreciate any and all help that can be given!

So here is the situation, I currently have a dual monitor setup. My main monitor is an old (2008) HP LP3065 30in monster 2560x1600 monitor. It has served me well for the 3-4 years I have owned. I got it second hand from my work back then,( which we picked up as a monitor pickup from a command center for a power company.) however it has been occuring more frequently, the monitor will burn the current image in, and hold it for some time, until a new image is displayed. This monitor is also very finicky, hates all forms of adapters, and it only has Dual Link input. I do like to play various games, FPS like (COD, L4D2), Action Games (Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed), Third person shooter (The Division, Gears), Simulator games (Spintires), Management/RTS games (Frostpunk, Supreme Commander, Cities: Skylines). I also will be using this monitor to work from home as well. I want to replace my main monitor. I am looking to spend absolutely max 400 USD (before taxes and shipping). I have been looking at a few monitors but I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on any monitors that you have seen or used. Below is the list of monitors I have looked at and are on the "short" list. Needs list: 2k between 27"-32"(give or take 5") Ideally above 120Hz Would be nice list: VESA mount ASUS TUF VG27WQ https://www.newegg.com/black-asus-tuf-gaming-vg27wq-90lm05f0-b01eb0-27/p/N82E16824281049 HP 27xq https://www.amazon.com/HP-27-Inch-Monitor-Freesync-Technology/dp/B07FCHFH3Z Rocksoul RSGM-32K3G https://www.amazon.com/ROCKSOUL-RSGM-32K3G-Widescreen-Adjustable-Resolution/dp/B07F4Q5BX5 MSI Optix MPG27CQ https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Non-Glare-SteelSeries-Optix-MPG27CQ/dp/B07C41W83V Monoprice 27in Zero-G Gaming Monitor https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=38576 Monoprice 32in Zero-G Gaming Monitor https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=33821 Monoprice 35in Zero-G Gaming Monitor (Maybe?) https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=38035 Edit: I was also looking at this dell Monitor too, that orbitalbuzzsaw had posted. Long time no see, its been a while and hi to everyone here. This is a long question as im trying to explain myself and comes down to i want a pc for one 14yo game and it cost more for that pc than a xbox series x. The short of it is i never got my pc up and running bc i bought a 1x around that time and the one x fulfilled most of my gaming desires and now that i want to get back to my pc the new series x is on the way and almost assuradly for a lot cheaper than a pc. So what do i do now. I still really want to play midevil total war 2 as i have never got to play it because my pc refuses to run it with its a6 3600 apu and rx560 gpu with 12gb of 1333 ram. Not great i know but it played empire at war just fine with settings pretty high. With the other issues that came with a ssd for my os i abandoned the pc and it sets bc it wont play the game i wanted to play for over a decade and to be useful i have to reinstall the os back onto the hdd bc the ssd while functional shuts the os down without sending a poweroff signal to the MB. So over the last week ive been debating with myself and some friends over the new series x or a pc bc if i get a series x then the only thing i need a pc for is some more than decade old rts games. I could build a pc for just those but that pc would lilely cost more than the series x and i have a case, 650w ps and the rx560 gpu already. Just a board ram and cpu that can run tw2 okay is outrageous considering the game is 14 years old. So im stuck again, a pc cant replace my console because my console is also my 4k player and brings my tv and home audio to life with rich well synced audio and hdr 4k video (something that doesnt look to cheap to get from a pc). My delima is of my own making i know. I love the quality and ease of use that a console offers and xbox is also a great home entertainment system for movies and music at such a low price that i cant get a pc to compare with everything that i use my xbox for. But games like the sims and rts games are ultimatly better on pc. So price depending for the series x im wondering if anyone else is in a similar pickle of decision. I want both but only want to pay for one because the difference in price is larger than what can be quantified by my regular uses. If i could for under 200 usd get a pc today that could play midevil total war 2 with ease and no tearing jumping or laging i would love to go for it. but from what i read tw2 requires more processor than i have or can get for cheap bc it entails overhauling not updating my pc over a game thats 14 years old. I guess im just bitter that i never got to play my game (that my pc met the requirments on the box for) and now that i almost want to i cant justify building a pc when the xbox is a clear overacheiver at the price for all that it does more than just games.

I plan on starting an RTS game, and have no prior experience with game making, although I am fully willing to learn. With my very limited research on the subject, I have found that UE4 is not really optimal for strategy games. Does anyone have an opinion on this, or a recommendation for a better engine? Thank you all who reply.

Hello LTT Forum! You know the drill, every time you buy a computer, you have a budget and then when you are finished... You only have 10 euros for a mouse and it's horrible because, even if there could be a "good enough" mouse for 10€, you never quite get it, or if you do, it breaks. I am still cheap but I search for a good mouse under 30€ in France. I spotted the G402 but it's already 39€ on amazon. What do I use the mouse for? FPS, MMO, RTS and Photoshop. Therefore, I like to be able to switch profiles on the go for different applications. I have this right now on my cheap mouse. I am not fond of RGB (sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry!) so if there is rgb or not, I am okay. I also happen to have big hands and don't seem to care about the weight of the mouse. I work on a mouse pad or on a table (no glass) and I am not susceptible to work on something else except hard plastic during my travels. I think I said everything, if really I can't find anything, I might go for the G402 but since I am not an experienced tech guy and I am sure there are some great mouse enthusiasts people willing to help and share their knowledge with me, I better start asking for you May you have a great day my dear people! Don't hesitate to leave some general advice on mouse or your favorite mouse if you use the same program as me! EDIT: What do you think about the tecknet? https://www.amazon.fr/TeckNet-précision-prograables-personnalisation-micro-coutateurs/dp/B00E64DTDQ/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1501619580&sr=8-13&keywords=omron+souris

So, I've just been looking at sudden strike 4 on steam, and... well, to be completely honest, I'm completely unimpressed by it. I remember sudden strike 1, and 2, and being completely engrossed in them, and now looking at the footage, quite the opposite. is it just me, or have games in this genre become more focused on pretty explosions and nice graphics over core gameplay? Now, i haven't played it (SS4), so maybe I'm just looking at the media footage and being unimpressed by that, but it seems the same for most RTS games nowadays. I had hours of fun on C&Q, Total Annihilation, SS1, 2, 3(? a coldwar version?) and now the modern equivalent seem unimpressive, even if they do look "better". do any of you agree with me here, or am i just raving mad? and, if so, can you recommend any good games on that style?

I'm planning on upgrading my set up and am deciding on whether to get a 35" Ultrawide at 100hz or a 27" at 144hz. I don't play any multiplayer or esports titles and mainly stick to RPGs and RTS titles (Warhammer Total War 2, Witcher 3 etc.) and just wanting some opinions on whether or not I would benefit from having a high refresh rate. TL;DR- I'm trying to make a top down strategy game with management that look like the history vids you see on YT. Want to know if its possible or easy, where to dev, etc Hey guys, I was recently wondering what would be a good engine to make a top down real time strategy game. I'm currently just bringing up ideas and seeing how I can apply them. I have some ideas on how I want the game to look and function I want to design a game who's battles are similar to Winterfalling https://rarykos.itch.io/winter-falling while having some sort of management element like Ultimate General: CW https://store.steampowered.com/app/502520/Ultimate_General_Civil_War/ I was also wondering if "push physics" ( if thats what you call it would be possible too, like where you see two units clearly sturggle against one another, as one gains ground, and the other looses it. Here is a good video on what my dream looks like: Baz Battles video (skip to 9:00) Thanks guys and gals for your help in advance.

Hey all, I recently picked up Halo Wars 2 on sale on the MS store and am having tons of fun with it. In particular, I'm really enjoying the multi-tasking, strategy-based nature of the gameplay, and I'm interested in getting more involved with the genre. What RTS titles should I look at? I guess the obvious choice would be StarCraft 2, but I'll take other suggestions as well. Thanks!

I downloaded a new game on steam yesterday. Thought i would share this amazing find. Although it is a top seller so I'm sure I'm late to the game, but They are Billions..is hands down one of the best games i have played in a long time. A mix of base building with real time strategy and zombie hordes. Tech advancements and resource management takes this seemingly simple looking game into a level of difficulty i have yet to overcome. as an early access game the only mode is currently survival. But a campaign is being developed and if they make enough in sales a coop option is in discussions. So go out there and give this game a look. i want it to be a success as i really would love to see this game be developed to meet its full potential. I might add i almost never hype about a game or find any that can really hold my attention for over an hour or two. Downloaded this game....10 hours straight....only stopped to sleep. Incredible.

Soooo..... My favourite game probably ever is Command and Conquer: Generals. Its a great game, 2003, and its only expansion is 2004. Its 20 bucks for the C&C collection of 19 games on origin. But that's not important. What IS important is that I Have literally grown up playing that game. Since it came out when I was three, I have owned it, and played it A LOT. Even through the struggles, working out how to make a 12 year old game with a crappy netcode work on windows 10 is absolute hell, but I got it, and it was worth it. I know the entire thing by heart, and I have a lot of strong childhood memories tied into it. BACK ON TOPIC. The basic plotline, is that in 2013, a terrorist leader was assassinated. His name was Dr. Thrax, and he was the supreme leader of the arab terrorists. When he died, there was a power scuffle, and the resulting terror force was called the GLA (Global Liberation Army). The GLA proceeded to fight in Syria, Egypt, Somalia, Iran, Kazakhstan, and a few other middle eastern countries, before setting its sights on Europe. It invades Europe, and Europe is unable to deal with the threat, so they basically pretend its all k, while the US provides ineffectual fire-support. Simultaneously, the GLA invade parts of china, and bomb a parade with a nuke. Then China goes to town and annihilates the GLA with incredible power. The end result, is that the US basically fails to protect Europe, Europe is almost razed, and China swoops in and saves the day. Forgive my lengthy explanation, but there are more than a few real life similarities. First, look at Bin Laden. IDC if you think he is really gone, or just hiding. The fact is, Osama Bin Laden was a kingpin, who held all the terror factions together. He was assassinated, and all of the sudden, there was a power vacuum. Isis emerged from the vacuum. Just like the GLA after Thrax was killed. Then the GLA invade Europe and do a huge amount of damage with terrorism. Just like the refugee crisis. Once again, it really doesn't matter what your opinion of the refugee crisis is, or how you politically align. There is no denying Charlie Hebdo, the theater hostage situation, Nice, Brussels, the catholic mass incidents, the list goes on. There are some terrorists doing dome bad things. Just like a 2003 game by EA predicted. Then the US pulled all their forces out of the middle east. Just like in Generals. Then Isis attacked China. Which happened IRL, when a chinese embassy was bombed and Isis took responsibility. Then the GLA gained bio-weapons, but not any bio-weapons, they had SCUD missiles. Incidentally, Isis has a supply of SCUD missiles, and flaunts them on twitter. Then the US failes to back Europe. Just like in Generals, which also semi-accurately predicted the attack on a US-supplied airfield by GLA (Isis) supported militants. Generals also predicted, this one is reach just a bit, Iran getting hold of WMD missiles, or in real life, Iran getting hold of nuclear materials, which they are at this moment spinning into uranium 235. I hope someone appreciates this as much as I do. So many coincidences in one game, that all accurately predict the rise of Isis to power, blows my mind. I have grown up with this game, which is probably why its so remarkable to me, that almost 13 years after it's release, it predicts so much about the current events. If any of you have played C&C generals and have thought of any other similarities, please share. And give your thoughts.

I currently run a LG ultra wide monitor LG 29UB55-B 29, I know that high refresh rate monitors are mostly targeted at FPS games, but I was wondering if they had a big impact on RTS games like league of legends ? I've never had a monitor over 60hz lol, so I wanted to go out a buy one just to see if i could see the difference. I can run league past 144 FPS, and I cant afford a Ultra wide high fresh rate monitor Anyways the question is Ultrawide, or 144hz?

After playing an rts game (Sins of a Solar Empire) with my friend I got to wondering what are some good rts games you guys have played. Some criteria, no games that take more than half a day to finish (sins has this problem) and it can't have a ridiculous UI things(aka the screen is full of stuff) as I have no attention span, and as the title says no war/starcraft as I am not a fan, and I already know of them.
