For example, "Laptop Needed for Gaming/AutoCAD (under $2000 CAD)" or "I need a 14" laptop for Machine Learning; €800" - similar to how r/listentothis posts need to follow the MainArtistName -- trackName [genre / genres] (year) format. This way, we don't have a bunch of topics all titled "Laptop Recommendations" that may be irrelevant to what we're looking for, and we only realize this until we go into the thread.

I am looking to upgrade from a 60 hz monitor to something better. I want a monitor that is at least 120hz and rotates from landscape to portrait to be used for coding. I am a college data scientist student so i dont have an unlimited supply of money. I want to find a monitor under $400 but would be willing to pay for something a little more pricey. What are your recommendations? I play alot of overwatch, warzone and rocket League.

Hey guys, so I want to pick a pick up a nice 27"+ gaming monitor for under $300 CAD (or maybe a bit over), Here is some of the one I'm looking at right now - AOC 27G2 - MSI Optix G271 - MSI Optix G32C4 - LG 27GL63 I need help with choosing which one of the above is the best, or a different one that you think is better in this price range. Thank you

I need some recommendations for a monitor. I've been looking for a while but it's very hard to choose out of the hundreds of options. My budget is around 300-400 dollars. I need a 1440p 144hz TN or fast IPS panel with 5ms or lower response time. Any and all suggestions are helpful. I have been looking for about a month and would just like to see what other peoples experience is.

Budget: Around $600-$800 USD but I can go a bit higher if there's a strong reason to. Country: USA. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly playing slightly older games at multiple hundreds of FPS, however If I had a better PC I would definitely be more inclined to try out more recent/highly demanding games so I would at least like the option to be there for the future. Also definitely going to try my hand at recording Youtube vidoes/streaming for fun so something that could be at least passible there would be great. Other details: My main monitor that I'd use for gaming is 170Hz at 1440p. I have 3 monitors total, one being an old 4:3 aspect ratio 1080p 75Hz Samsung and the other being a 60 Hz 1080p HP but neither I plan on using for gaming. I don't plan on upgrading anything besides the PC itself nor do I care about how the PC looks whatsoever. I DON'T WANT TO BUILD A FULL PC FROM SCRATCH, I would much rather buy a PC with several specs I like and then move my power supply (assuming it will be adequate but I'll worry about that myself and I'm pretty sure it should since I didn't cheep out when I bought it) from my current PC into it and purchase a graphics card separately. things like an SSD can also be purchased separately if needed. I understand this is a strange request but I've done this before and it seems to result in getting a pretty good price and without needing to build a whole PC. This of course isn't a must have for me but it would be preferred. Preferred specs are 8-16gb of ram (I seriously don't know if I need 16 so if someone could even just tell me that that would be greatly appreciated), around like 800gb to a TB SSD, a processor that is competent in what I laid out above, and any graphics card recommendations would be great but it's not my main priority as I am capable of doing that research myself later. This is my first post on this site so I hope I'm not making a fool of myself with this quite strange request but any help is appreciated.

Hey ! i hope you're doing well during this time. I'm trying to find a good laptop to replace my sister's old broken surface. I've been looking at newegg, MemEx, facebook marketplace, kijiji, bestbuy, etc. I'm looking for something small(13.3), portable, with a nice screen. She only does light homework and netflix, so nothing too powerfull is needed. if anyone has personal opinions on certain models i'd be happy to hear it ! thanks

I have the Corsair HX1200 1200W 80 Plus Platinum Power Supply that has a switch to change between single and multi rail. In what situation would you switch between them? I dont understand buying a high end multi rail psu if you just keep it single. Hi guys, I'm planning to build my first proper computer, currently I have a MacBook Air 11 2012, I know, lame... But thats why I want something awesome now, here's the list of what I think I might get: Intel Core i5 7600K ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E Corsair Vengeance LED 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 AMP! 6 GB Corsair H60 Intel 600P M.2 256 GB EVGA 600W 80 Plus Bronze Corsair Carbide Clear 400C White Now, my question is, should I go for the 7700K? If I do that I might have to wait like a month or two before I get the video card, because money.... I do have to say that I plan to have this for many years, so I have to make a good investment. Thanks for all the help!

Hello, (Sorry if this is the wrong category but it seams to be the most appropriate place) So I am planning on getting a job soon and as part of this I'm going to be spending my first couple months upgrading my technology. I will be purchasing a Razer Blade, HTC Vive, possibly a Dell XPS 13 2 in 1, and some other not so important tech. There is just one problem with what I want, I hate having more than one place that my files are and having 2 computer will not only do that but all be organized differently. So I was thinking of a solution and I came up with what if i had the 2 computers wiped with no operating system and had some sort of external storage solution (I'm considering the Akitio Thunder3 PCi-E SSD 1.2TB) and had the OS or an image of it stored on the drive and which every computer I wanted to use that day or at that time, i just boot up the computer off of the system image or something like that. Then when I wanted to switch computer I only had to renew the external drive image and boot on to the other computer. The point of this post is to ask for advice on how you guys think I could do this. I would really like feed back on this, but there are some things I am not doing or considering; 1, I am going to do something like this. I will not run 2 computers with 2 different installs of windows. 2, Money isn't really an option if there is a software or a piece of hardware I need to make it work. As a reminder, the goal of the project is to have 2 computers that share an operating system, and can be taken anywhere without needing a connection or external drive connected all the time.

I'm looking to build a very basic, non-gaming VM server for home office use. I need 2 windows VMs, and a Linux desktop (Ubuntu - which will probably be the hypervisor) (so, three keyboards/mice/monitors). I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with hardware passthrough virtualization with Ryzen - which I find attractive due to the price point/cores+threads. As I haven't built a non-gaming centric computer in a while, I'd like to know what the cheapest video cards I could get away with and the main board that would work with pass through. Thanks,

okay, so, I have a plethora of custom built systems to my name thus far, between tweaks of existing systems, existing custom builds and the likes clear down to actual custom builds, and I'm at a total loss here for how to build these two systems, and would like some advice.... the problem I have here, is most of the systems I have built are built to be the best at what they are intended to do for a good budget and to be able to get out of the ballpark performance at no whim given to the energy efficiency that they will be, IE they are made to be the best performance I can get from them with not a care in the world as to the cost and consumption of electricity that they use because I didn't really care how power hungry they were given my situation, well, thats the exact polar opposite for these two systems in question and I do not even know how or where to begin on energy efficient performance parts, so, help please?? tl;dr I need two systems for two specific purposes in mind and I would like the best performance at the lowest cost of electricity given these two systems will be online 24/7 when the rest of my systems are running only adding to the energy consumed by everything all inclusive so the best performance at the lowest power consumption would be optimally desired for these two systems... system #1: a quad core AT LEAST system to be used as a pass-through firewall/av scanning system that ALL of my internet will be routed THROUGH before hitting either the outside world or the inside of my local network budget?? anything that is cost effective given I have like 0 budget to use for these two systems, so the lower the cost and the higher the electric efficiency per performance the better, I can save up long term to build this thing, but the budget is as low as can be for the highest performance per watt that I can afford, preferably anything less than 100$ is highly desired here, it will be running opnsense for an open source linux firewall os, and I can provide the hard drives and storage, but everything else I'll need, and quiet here is also HUGELY key for me. am I willing to go above 100$ if need be?? absolutely especially if the performance gains will be highly worth it, so that 100$ pricetag is a ballpark desired amount on my end, but if you can explain to me WHY it would be good to go above that, i AM NOT against going above that, but I will have to save up for doing so longer term and I would like these two systems up as soon as I can get them up, anything past quad cores is a huge plus given that this is a pass through firewall that any computational issues WILL be a HUGE speed and throughput bottleneck, IE if you all think I should do a dual socket server system for this AND its either energy efficient on the needed use or the performance gains outweigh the electrical efficiency vs the performance of a more energy efficient system then so be it and go the performance route given that my actual througput is over 8MBPs download and almost 900KBPs upload throughput system #2: I need a system that can be EASILY more low powered than system 1 given all this system will be doing is operating as a vpn intermediary router, so to speak, meaning that it will be running as a pass-through vpn connection router to route all of my local internet traffic through to my prefered vpn of choice so as to route everything through a single system and operate as if it were only a single device connecting to my vpn of choice (paranoid, and have huge hacker problems so thus the desire to build both of these systems and try and get some of the spying and hacker bullcrap off my back even to a minute degree, because hey, every little bit helps in this day in age, plus isp snooping and all that bullcrap I dont want to realy openly discuss here phaha...so yea, those two systems I need help on) so yea, any help with suggested builds for these, the vpn system also would be a prefered budget of about 100$ unless once again significant enough validation as to why to go above that is warranted in which case once again I'm not against going over that proposed budget. thanks everyone ^^

Hello long time viewer first time poster so I apologize in advance for any breach of forum etiquette. As Christmas is approaching I was hoping for to get a few recommendations for good quality passive noise cancelling headphones (lets say a budget of 250$). The Individual lives in a very noise environment because of the local road way, and hates the "pressure" associated with active noise cancelling solutions. Unfortunately however whenever you try to search for noise canceling you only get active, or unusual headphones form less familiar brands so I was hoping to see if anyone here has some good recommendations. Amongst the general search the "Direct Sound EX29 Extreme Isolation Professional Headphones" and "Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones" have been recommend for there noise cancelling ability. If anyone has experience with either of these I would love to hear your opinion.

Hey I'm specking out a high end video editing PC for my mothers boyfriend, he is retiring soon and he wants to do high end, professional video editing after retirement. He is planning to use the program Media Composer (or something similar) which I know nothing about other than that it's video editing software. I've built one gaming PC before but I don't have much experience with video editing PC's so I could use some help. He says his limit is about $5 000 CAD ($3,720 USD) including the price of 2-3 monitors. Does anyone have experience specking out a video editing PC at this price range? Furthermore does anyone have experience with Media Composer specifically?

I need to buy a Laptop before November, it'll mostly be for editing video's in Davinci Resolve while in Asia this winter. It will be for mostly 1080p footage. Right now my desktop is a i7 6700k with 32gb ram and an RX480 and everything runs great so over the top specs are not necessary. I've had Apple laptops since about 2003 and the specs of the new MBP are not good enough for the price. I was set on a Razer Blade 2019 15" with a 9th Gen Intel and a GTX2060 but then I read about their QA and reliability problems and the fact that for any service it all would have to be shipped back to North America (not really an option for where I will be). The only other laptop I've seen as a possibility is something like a Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen 2. A few notes: -A non-gamer look is preferred -Battery life while nice is not the most important consideration -Lighter weight would be nicer as I will have to travel a bit with it -Budget ideally is under $3000 CAD

Hello everyone, I am quite new to the whole audio domain, not having paid too much attention to it before. One of the reasons for it was me having used for the last six years an Asus N56VZ laptop with integrated sound developed buy Bang&Olufsen/ICEpower, that sounded just great and was loud enough to fill the studios and small apartments where I lived. At this point, however, it is starting to slowly fail, mostly due to the included subwoofer's cable being torn into pieces. I am hence looking for a replacement that would provide a comparable or better listening experience for a single room. As of now, my requirements are: - Below 200$ (up to 300$ is acceptable if it really improves the quality) - Can be connected to a TV - If possible is bluetooth/wifi compatible (even if it requires a chromecast) - Don't take too much space (bookshelf/soundbar/subwoofer sizes are ok) What would be your recommendation with that regard?

So awhile ago i asked this forum to help me with a planed rig and i have been editing the build list for awhile and have made a new version that i would like you to look at and tell me how it is! My budget is $1200 to $1300 and my location is Australia ($AUD). This PC is going to be used for mainly gaming of all variety and light video, audio and picture editing along with 3D modeling and CAD (also normal use EG: web browsing.) For my monitor i am using an Asus VP278H (without G-Sync) however i may get the AOC CQ27G1 from one of Linus's videos (find link 1.) I already have all my peripherals (mouse: Logitech G402 Keyboard: Logitech G413 Carbon Headset: Logitech G399) may be buying a webcam, mic, mouse pad and speakers in the future. I will be buying a Windows 10 key from GVGmall. I am upgrading because at the moment i am using a Acer laptop with a 8th gen i5-6400, GTX 940M, 8GB ram (IDK the speed), 1TB HDD and a 1080p HD laptop screen (which at the moment is my second screen.) I also have a WII (the one that cant play GameCube games.) and a PS4 slim 500GB (I also play android games on my Samsung Galaxy J1 Ace (2016.) I am i finding that i cant play PC games a 1080p 60fps on my laptop and that the only way to play the games at playable FPS and quality is to play on my ps4 (i would prefer to play on PC than console or mobile!) I also want to get into the PC community and build a PC. I may not be able to read replies straight away (i may have to go out) so sorry if i do not reply (i will read and respond to all replies when i can!) Thanks for reading a spending your time to help me! EDIT: I may try to do VR/AR in the future! PC Build:https://bit.ly/2JprzQU Link 1: (the monitor https://geni.us/kVvRJ )

Hey, guys, Im looking to buy a graphics card for my rig and unfortunately have fallen out of practice of keeping track of the newest tech so would really like help in choosing a good fit for my hardware, i built my set up a few years ago but my specs are 16 gb ram i7-7700k and an ROG PG279Q (1440p, 144 hz, gsync, ) i kept off getting a graphics card due to budget and school reasons, but want one now, both to game to my monitors full capabilities and run Nengo ( i have no idea if its cpu or gpu related - it runs on python and in chrome if that helps ). help will be rewarded in immense gratitude :)

Heyy, I'm looking for suggestions from you guys on choosing a good model of monitor for a dual monitor setup. Constraints - would like to stay under $300 per monitor if possible, can go over (a bit) if its worth it. - I do some gaming but not enough that I think my monitor refresh rate will improve my scores. More so, I care about color accuracy and image quality like contrast etc. The computer is used 80% for work and movies, 20% games. - Dual monitor setup so thin bezel would be preferred. - My rig has a 1070TI currently, might upgrade in a few years. - The bigger the better. Thinking 24" would be minimum.
