so i do not understand the difference between ryzen 1200 vs 1300, 2700 vs 2800 why??? sorry for bad english

Are there any restrictions for reviewers or anyone that already owns one of the Ryzen chips to disable some cores and SMT here and there to give a theoretical idea where the R5s and R3s may be positioned in performance? Does it put a bad light on reviewers to do this kind of thing? I mean the 1800x, 1700x and 1700 are all interesting and what not but I think we all got the idea by now where it stands. It would be nice to get some idea where the 1600x 1400x and 1200x would lie in theory, similarly like how some of us had an idea what the i3 7350k would be like due to overclocking of the i3 6100 at the time or the few that disabled cores on i7s with an OC. Yes it's not super duper accurate but its definitely not so inaccurate that its a waste of time, it gives a nice ballpark of performance levels. Im sure many of us here would like to know without the unnecessary waiting

I was thinking and I feel like AMD may not want to release 2c4t or 4c4t CPU's in the R3 bracket but APU's. to me it makes a lot more sense if the lower end products come with a iGPU so it is a more complete package. we all know zen struggles past 4Ghz so a lower core CPU will not help in gaming if the frequency isn't higher. What are your guys thoughts?

Hi All, I have recently acquired an Alienware 17 R3 (6700HQ, 32Gb DDR4, GTX 965m) I am trying to find a cooling solution similar to this : Click here My problem with these coolers is that they all seem to pull air away from the laptop, are there any that blow air in to the laptop? It would obviously need to be able to support the weight if the 17" alienware.. My temps are fine, but in the long run I'd like to buy a graphics amplifier and be able to use this as a desktop type solution.

So I recently bought an Alienware R3 which was a refurbished unit. I noticed immediately that it runs pretty toasty... not roasting my nuts level, but pretty damn toasty. I also notice the fans ramp up pretty high and pretty often, and after a very SMALL bit of googling, I see that just about anyone with an alienware laptop who has pulled off the heatsink has discovered atrocious thermal compound applications from factory and often times very little grease even on the chips themselves but squeezed out all over the chipset. That alone has me breaking out my tool kit and a tube of IC Diamonds 7carat, a Thermal Compound I am familiar with, and have had great results with in the past. I have also seen the likes of iUnlock and a lot of other folks going one further and using Conductonaut from Thermal Grizzly and getting simply amazing results with that, but I have my reservations on doing it myself for a couple reasons. 1- I dont have any Conductonaut, so theres 20$ (Not a total cheapskate, but I already have IC Diamonds here, free) 2- Ive never applied Liquid Metal before.... doesnt look insanely hard, Im no novice to system building and cracking open computers, soldering, desoldering, etc... but never having done it before, my first go at it will undoubtedly not be perfect. 3- What is the lifetime on a LM application? Im concerned I will be back in the system and re-applying sooner than I'd be with any other Thermal Grease... but maybe Im wrong, I just havent seen a lot of hard numbers on life-span. 4- Ive read that the nickel plated copper heatsink in the alienware system does allow the LM to leech into the copper, does anyone have experience with this? Am I asking for trouble down the road? I do want to sell this laptop in 3 or 4 years. Basically thats all my questions/concerns, which are plenty.... I just dont know if LM is the avenue for me, but the performance gains are DEFINITELY the X-factor for me as I am an overclocking/low temp enthusiast. Hey guys. Need urgent help here as i'm about to have a meltdown over this issue. My CPU pump for some reason is not kicking in at all on my PC. It started as an intermediate issue whereby it didn't kick in on boot and i simply removed the CPU pump fan connection and put it back on, it worked straight away, however, the problem has persisted and gotten worse and i am now at the point where I've striped the PC to the CPU, replaced the thermal paste, cleaned the fan, radiator , and removed and inspected multiple connections surrounding/ concerning the pump. When on my PC, it thinks my pump is running, but it isn't. May i also add the PC has been in transport recently to my college and back however the issue did start before that. I really don't know what to do as Dell are well.... dell, and there support isn't great at all, i cant even retrieve the most recent BIOS update for my PC cause you have to be on a Dell PC to do so. Hello, I've recently started hearing a hiss coming out of the charging port in my laptop. The noise is only present while i charge it. I've read quite a few worrysome comments after a quick google search but I'm not sure what to do. I'm also out of warranty. Is this the beginning of the end?

First I will make it clear that the 3300x is not available here in Greece for maybe forever I want to make a PC 1080p gaming and also for adobe premiere pro (light video editing) but without much power consumption I am between the r3 3100 with b450 motherboard with updated bios or i3 10100 with an h410 (so I can use quick sync) Side note I already have 16 gb of ddr4 memory at 2666 mhz speed and an RX 480 8gb graphics card The difference of those CPUs here is around 20€ (Intel more expensive ofc) but the price of the motherboard are almost similar Which option sounds better?

Hey there, I've just built my first rig with the R3 3300x and my cinebench R20 score is way below what I've seen as what should be standard, out of the box multicore - 2500, 2600. I'm getting multicore score of: 2100 - 2200 (stock). single core: 460 Temperatures aren't pushing over 65 degrees C. - R3 3300x - MSI Mag B550 Mortar - G.Skill 16gb Trident Z Neo - 3600 (XMP enabled) - RX 5600 xt - NZXT x53 AIO - 650w silverstone PSU What's choking the stock performance? Overclocking at 4.4ghz i'm getting 2269 in multicore.

I got an Alienware 17" R3 when it came out. I bought the non-SSD one but I had no idea it would be this slow? Or is something wrong with it? I'm not sure what is up with my laptop I talked to Dell countless times and all they say is that its this slow because it has no SSD in it. I don't think that is the case. my warranty is over and I still have no idea what is wrong with it. The games are so slow, frame rate drops so low, Google chrome takes up to 2 minutes just to open... I hope someone can help me with this issue.

I have a system with the new Ryzen APU, 2200g, and I was curious if I could run a monitor of the onboard and another off an nvidia dedicated GPU. Would there be any issue with that since there are different display drivers at work?

I have the razer tactical pro backpack (17") and I`m looking to buy the alienware 15 R3 laptop, but I can`t find anyware if the laptop will fit. The laptop is 305mm in depth, and when I measure the backpack it could fit just barely. But than you have the thickness, please help btw sorry for my English

I'm looking at the alienware 13 r3 OLED version, but I'm concerned about the screen burn in issue that OLED gives. Anyone out there with this laptop and want to tell me their experience with the screen burn in (or hopefully lack there of)

My friend bought a R3 1300x on Black Friday. He paired it with an MSI B350 tomahawk mobo and 16gb of ADATA 2400MHz memory. He is trying to OC the but for some reason the CPU ratio option was greyed out indiccating he cant change it. The only thing he was able to use was "game boost" to achieve 3.7GHz, but we read that it only boosts 2 cores? Is it possible to have it run all cores OCed?

I have been someone who has veered away from brands like Alienware for a long time. It wasn't because they weren't good enough or powerful enough to game on or such, but rather because of their inflated prices. I remember one of their gaming laptops costing upwards of 2 grand for modest hardware configs mostly because they reigned when it came to portable performance. These days it seems Razor has decided to take that spot with their gaming notebooks. Some disclosure before I continue. I currently own an MSI GT70 Dominator 17in laptop. I have no problem lugging around an 8 pound behemoth of a laptop when I need to. I feel most laptops these days average out at 5ish pounds anyway (any with decent specs) so adding a few extra pounds for excellent performance is really not an argument point for me. I love having a machine with a large screen and with a lot of power. Also, I have the appropriate backpack (Everki Titan) or laptop carry case (Everki Advanced Laptop Bag) should I ever need to carry it whether by itself or with extra items. Also, i'm not a video producer, blogger, video editor, pro gamer (though I do game frequently) etc. I don't need to be convinced to spend my money someplace else. I just believe that if you're gonna lug around a laptop, you may as well lug around something you really want. Also, most other non-laptop needed things can be done on a tablet these days anyway. Now that that's out of the picture, I am looking at the Alienware 17 R3 for a few reasons: 1. ~$1400 for a laptop with a good brand, sturdy construction, elegant presentation, and great hardware to me is relatively fair. I bought my fugly (affectionate term) MSI GT70 at about ~$1300 anyway, so the pricing to me fits the bill. Also, most gaming laptops in this price range with exception of a couple of brands on both extremes are similar specs (looking at the 970m version, by the way.). 2. The Gaming Amplifier is appealing, and even though I probably won't buy it anytime soon (I have a full sized custom water looped gaming desktop (see sig) so I don't need it to replace my main PC) since I have my reservations on it. Yes it supports a full gaming desktop card, yes it has expansion ports, yes it's neato, but ultimately I am all about specs. It runs a PCI-e 2.0 4x slot. That's not so good in my opinion. 3. I have accepted the ecosystem of owning a large laptop. I've heard the comments, the jokes, and the awes. I have large hands and I like to multitask. I like to check on my server, re-encode home movies, listen to podcasts, remote in to fix friends/family problems (I work in IT, by the way), play games, and have a powerful machine whenever I decide to take a laptop. I feel getting it at this point is a no brainer, and even without the Alienware Amplifier, i'd still consider it. But what about that amplifier...? Say i want to buy it someday, will it be worth it? Will Alienware come out with a "Alienware Amplifier R2" with at least a PCI-e 8x card slot? My biggest gripe is that most people who own one say "You only lose 5 to 10% performance on it anyway, it's no big deal!" well then I shouldn't spend 100% of my money to a graphics card if my only intention is to use the Amp, should I? What are your thoughts on the Amplifier? Is the actual port on these laptops capable for an R2 revision of it with an 8x PCI-E slot? Even if one never comes out, i'm still sold on the laptop regardless. Let me know your opinions.

I want to upgrade my R3 with a window and I don't want to buy a new case so could an R4 panel fit on my R3 case since i can find anywhere in the UK that sells the define R3 panel.

Does anyone know where in the Uk I can buy a white windowed side panel for my Friends fractal design R3? or will the R4 window fit? Thanks ;)
