EDIT: I have put together a build based on some of the advice here and on other sites, it's in my latest post in this thread. I'd love to have someone look it over and let me know what they think so I can begin ordering some of the items that are in stock (RIP 3080 ordering). --------------------------- Budget (including currency): $2500 CDN - I am flexible on the budget. Aiming for $2000 would probably be best, but if I need to go up a bit to get a nice jump in performance I may be interested in expanding the budget. But the ideal build is $2000-$2500. Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Current Triple AAA games, unoptimized indie games that eat resources. Looking to be able to hit utilize my 2k 144hz monitor to its full potential as often on my current card I have to drop to 1080p and sometimes still don't even hit 144fps. I don't care to stream. I may here and there use something like shadowplay (or the equivalent) to maybe record clips/highlight style things but that would just be to share with friends and I don't care if I record that in low res. Other details: I don't need any peripherals. I have two monitors I am happy with, one is 2k 144hz. I also have 1 m.2 ssd 1tb ssd I am happy with, 1 250gb ssd, and 2 hdd's so I don't need any disk space. I currently have 16gb of ram. Open to upgrading that if it's worth it. I feel like I should go to 32gb to stay ready for the future. I definitely need a new case, psu, gpu, and cpu. Here is my current build, pretty much everything I currently have should be listed on here: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Fogest/saved/XFPx6h PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Newegg Canada) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($39.99 @ Canada Computers) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($711.81 @ Amazon Canada) Memory: G.Skill Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 Memory ($79.98 @ Amazon Canada) Storage: Intel 530 Series 180 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($292.12 @ Amazon Canada) Storage: Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($136.99 @ PC-Canada) Storage: Western Digital Blue 3 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (Purchased For $0.00) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB XC BLACK GAMING Video Card ($409.00 @ Canada Computers) Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 ATX Mid Tower Case (Purchased For $0.00) Power Supply: Corsair CX 600 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply (Purchased For $0.00) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer (Purchased For $0.00) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69 CFM 120 mm Fan ($9.99 @ Amazon Canada) Case Fan: Cooler Master SickleFlow 69 CFM 120 mm Fan ($9.99 @ Amazon Canada) Monitor: Dell U2412M 24.0" 1920x1200 60 Hz Monitor ($259.99 @ Canada Computers) Monitor: Dell S2719DGF 27.0" 2560x1440 155 Hz Monitor (Purchased For $488.15) Total: $2638.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-12-09 22:56 EST-0500

I own a Fitbit Versa 2 and around St Patrick's day, 2022 I updated the device from the Fitbit app as it was suggesting there was a new version. A few days following the update I noticed my sleeping data wasn't being tracked and that my heart rate was constantly reading 77 and not changing. I then tried power cycling the device and eventually resetting to factory defaults, and every suggestion I could find from googling the issue and looking at people who were reporting similar issues but nothing worked and now the heart rate is just reading nothing. During this i also noticed that I wasn't the only one having this issue, I have seen dozens of posts with usually a more then 3 people saying they also had their versa 2 devices heart rate function stop working after the most recent update, and some people had their devices brick entirely after updating not allowing the device to go beyond the initial startup logo. Along with the posts of people having the same issue being high in number, so were the number of people very angry as Fitbit was just responding with generic suggestions like "Go to settings and turn on the heartbeat function", and "try this specific steps to restart or reset the device". Fitbit has a 1 year warranty for its products except in Europe where 2 years is the requirement by law, and given that the Versa 2 launched in the Summer of 2019 and its successor arrived a year later in the Summer of 2020 i think it's fair to say that majority of Versa 2 holders are outside their warranty period. I don't really have a problem with the 1 year warranty, but from every person I've seen post about this issue and myself included all Fitbit had to say in response was "Did you try restarting it?", then after that they go right to warranty where I would bet that majority of people are outside their 1 year and they then say they can't cover it under warranty and give a code for 35% off a Fitbit device on their store. I've asked if they have any plans to attempt a fix by rolling out a new update but I haven't heard back on this yet. I had the device for 2.5 years without any issue and following that update the main feature of the device no longer works. I don't know if this is planned obsolescence or mere incompetence but either one is disgraceful. I would recommend staying away from Fitbit products if you care about e-waste or having a company brick your device and then claim "We can't do anything to fix this as its outside warranty" despite that the only reason its broke is an unnecessary update they pushed out. Below is a link to one of the forum posts and I've attached my correspondence with customer support. https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Other-Versa-Smartwatches/Versa-Sudden-Malfunction/m-p/5118251#M268554

Budget (including currency): £800 Country: England Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: games wise I tend to play a lot of BeamNG.Drive (almost 700 hours on steam ha), I also play Forza horizon 5, Call of duty cold war, Subnautica, citys skylines and VR games on my Oculus Rift S Work wise I do Photo editing on Lightroom / Photoshop Other details Existing Rig is a Core i7 6700K 16GB DDR4 Ram and a RTX 2070. storage I have two 1TB NVME drives a Samsung 970 EVO and a SK Hynix one, cooler wise I have a 360mm corsair all in one, also have a 10Gig Intel NIC to connect to my NAS I have a 1440P monitor @ 165hz Need help on what CPU I should get next I quite like the look of the 12th Gen Intel but not sure what the best one for me is any help would be great cheers I think my GPU is fine still currently I feel it is being held back by my older CPU

Hello everyone! I've made a decision to upgrade my PC gradually. Currently I am rocking Core i7-8700k, 1080ti and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. When I've started seeing my CPU as "reccomended" for the game I knew the time has come to make the updrage. I am aiming for high-end build with Core i9-13900K or Ryzen 9 7950x with a 4080/4090. I don't have all the money right now to just go online and order all of the parts, so I've came up with this plan: purchase new case, PSU, DDR5 RAM, CPU, motherboard and cooling for the CPU and stick with the 1080ti untill i have the money to buy 4080/4090.(I mostly play online multiplayer games with 1500+ players online on the same server, because of that new processor will be more beneficial than powerful GPU) +because of my plan I have plenty of time for researching the best components for my build(haven't really followed the PC hardware scene from 2018). AMD vs Intel: Current Intel's LGA1700 is basically dead from upgrading POV, 14th gen processors coming second half of this year will have a new socket, AMD's AM5 will be supported 2 more years. But does it really matters if I'm upgrading my rig once every 5-6 years? Today launched the new Ryzen 3XD chips, I don't know about the prices on them @my local PC hardware shops. I'll waint untill CPU situation becomes clearer than it is today for me. After watching the DDR5 tests and reviews it is clear for me that not so fast ram with good timings is the best choise. 5600-6000 speed with CL 26/32. I'm thinking about G.Skill Trident Z5 series. Basically choosing RAM and PSU is not that hard, so I'm not going to write a lot about it, I've already made my mind about RAM and I'll just pick some 1000w PSU from seasonic or corsair later. Please don't laugh at me, but PC case is the hardest choice for me. I've read/watched a lot of reviews on this topic: mid tower vs full tower / mesh vs solid front panel / best fan configuration for the optimal airflow. From what I've read: Mid Tower ATX case should be fine and mesh front panel is much better choice. I don't really have a budget for this build as I'm not purchasing all of the parts at once, but spending 500+ euros for Full tower case seems to me irrational. Currently I have some mid tower case from beQuiet! and it has glass side panel. My PC is standing on the floor next to my desk and I really don't care abot looks/aesthetics of it, excluding the outerior. I'm actually thinking about swapping every case fan for noctua ones in the future case for better airflow/temps at the same fans RPMs. So I'm asking you guys for help. Can you suggest good ATX Mid Tower case without glass panel and with mesh front panel? I want to fit a 360mm radiatior in this case as well(CPU is going to be water cooled.) Thank you for your time!

i am planning on building my first computer later this year and i have done my research on probably almost every single part i am planning on purchasing. i would just like people with more experience to look at it to make sure everything is 100% ok. Components in spoiler: I am planning to go sli on the 1080ti card someday that is why i am getting the 850w psu instead of a 650. also it the mobo only has 1 rgb connector i think so how will i hook everything up together so i can pick and choose my own colors (everything is compatible with asus aura) thanks for the help and taking a second look for me calming my overly worried ocd mind

Here is the link to the article :https://www.extremetech.com/computing/246975-intel-ceo-admits-industry-wide-conspiracy-slow-cpu-advances-kill-frequency-boosts So this article pretty much confirms all my conspiracies not only against Intel but also w.r.t to Tech industry in general. It also explains how my i7 3770K works within 10% of my dads 6700K Also intel is not the only company Also the time line fits in perfectly with the last time, since we got any substantial IPC gains from team Blue Also as it turns out The good guy(Amd) tried standing up against the entire industry but they could not as this shit happened Now that AMD is back with Ryzen, we almost saw this strategy being reused Ps:any one seriously getting up in arms check the date

I've lost track of how many "Allow users to delete posts" suggestion threads have been made, along with suggestions for a disagree button, etc. Maybe pin a topic in the suggestions subforum listing the most common suggestions that were declined, and why they were declined. I feel like it might help keep the suggestions subforum a bit cleaner

So my build is pretty good, high end parts all around, but a few problems, mostly with the case and cooling. SOOOOOO I plan on a upgrade from this: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/T7gd8d To this: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/hQYgJV About adding another thousand to the price tag. Really I just want to hear some thoughts and know if this is a wise upgrade, or if maybe I'm missing something important. I'm hoping the thermaltake fans will provide good high static pressure cooling. Unfortunately the 980ti isn't the exact model I would choose now, the extra radiator really is a bother, but I'm stuck with it. I did not have a good build experience with the MasterCase Pro, I really dunno why, but I just find the case kind of ugly. I've seen the enthoo evolv up close and love the look and features. Audio is a big upgrade. I hear good things about beyerdynamic and i'm afraid to say right now i'm using a pair of disgusting 20$ skullcandy overear headphones. My ears are screaming for better. Also my drives might be a bit confusing, the 250gb ssd pair will be used for a linux dual boot in raid 1 The hard drives for storage in raid 1 And the 500gb pair also in raid 1 for OS and applications So thanks for taking a look, heres the full list of parts i'm adding on seperated: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/66j27h

Hello, thinking about this build for a new rig. What do you guys think? EDIT: this is the new link, chose the mastercase instead http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/4Wkgbj

Ok, so the question that I present today is probably an obvious one, i just have no idea with anything like this... I am planning to buy the computer outlined here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XXTwZL The question that I have is in relation to the hardware and graphics card in the machine being able to run the AOC q2963Pm in the parts list as well as running the dual Asus VN247H-P monitors that I am using now. ( http://goo.gl/P9LRN ) I just want to make sure that as the computer sits now that it will be able to run all 3 of those displays and still be able to be presented with a satisfactory gaming experience. I would not be spanning the games over all 3 monitors mind you, most if not all of my gaming will be done on the AOC alone, so that should be a little easier on the GPU, as opposed to spanning all 3 screens. Is it okay for me to run the hardware I have and should I still be okay with the resolution that I will be running? Are there any other issues that I may not be aware of?

So, with a build inspired by Dubesta11's "How to build a system that is easier to upgrade" thread in which I chose the build that is less easy to upgrade, but has better performance for my money. The link to the partlist is here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LkzzCJ but I will list the parts anyway in case anyone wants it: CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor $169.99 Motherboard: ASRock H81M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard $49.99 Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory $76.89 Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $56.85 Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280 3GB Double Dissipation Video Card $199.99 Case: Deepcool TESSERACT BF ATX Mid Tower Case $29.99 Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply $44.99 Altogether, with mail-in rebates and shipping, it comes out to $579.68. I obviously want to use it for gaming and would like a general idea of what settings it can run on certain games. One game I hear is (or maybe was) a good benchmark for seeing how well your rig is, is Battlefield 4 Ultra. I would like to know how well you guys think it would run on most games, including BF4, on their ultra settings. Thanks in advance. Also, first post, so any tips on anything you guys can give me will greatly be appreciated.

Okay, I've been planning the build for a while and made nearly 200 posts and have been getting advice from a bunch of people on what to get, what not to, what to look for, best bang for your buck etc. I've been working on it for around 2-3 weeks now and I think I've come to a solid conclusion on my build. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/xSpaceSheepy/saved/rDnj4D What are your thoughts on this? I've been told I could improve my mobo to the MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition and it would be better... Is that true? If you have any advice on ways I can improve but keeping the price the same (or lower), that would be awesome! Thanks,

Hey guys, Just looking for a bit of help with a budget build for my 15 year old cousin. His budget will be about 600 Australian dollars but it will take him a few months to save up the money. Main requirements: - Crushes consoles. - The lower the price, the better, and it must be kept below 650AUD (preferably below 600) Here is my draft build: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor ($78.00 @ CPL Online) Motherboard: Asus H81M-E Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($60.00 @ Centre Com) Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($99.00 @ CPL Online) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($61.00 @ Centre Com) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($172.00 @ CPL Online) Case: Silverstone PS08B (Black) MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($45.00 @ CPL Online) Power Supply: Silverstone Strider Essential 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($57.00 @ CPL Online) Total: $572.00 All suggestions are welcome, but please take into account the notorious Australia tax on PC parts when recommending (e.g. AMD Athlons are out of the question). EDIT: BBCode.

So, I have been saving my money for a LONG time now so I can get a decent computer for gaming Here are all the parts: Asus Maximus Vi hero Intel core i5 4670k Gigabyte gyx 770 4gb edition Corsair vengeance low profile 8gb 1600mhz Corsair h100i extreme cooler Corsair Hx 750w gold power supply Samsung 840 120gb ssd Wd 1tb black Arc midi r2 Windows 8 Total on amazon: $1500 USA (thats the cheapest place, cheaper theN ncix and newegg plus I have prime, sorry ncix ) By the way this system is for gaming on like crysis 3 and stuff like that. But also for a bit of light editing. So are there any problems? Is it worth it to get the 770 4gb version or save $50 and get 2gb. Is the 750w enough to power this whole thing and later on can i get another 770? Any thing you think you can improve for the same price? Any compatibility issues? Thanks a ton guys, this will be my first computer i build my self, but i 95% sure i know what i am doing. The other 5 is why i am posting this. Sorry for the repost :(

After pondering on the question of: how do I measure the level of noise when there are 2 or more identical fans making the same amount of noise. I asked my science teacher who directed me to another science teacher who knew. I then asked, if I have 2 or more fans both making 23dB of noise, how do I calculate the overall intensity of the noise? Since I knew the the answer wasn't going to be 46dB I had discovered that the difference between 1dB and 2db is that 2dB is 10 to the power of 1dB. Meaning that the intensity of noise increases very quickly and exponentially. The teacher answered saying that: whenever you have two things making the same level of noise, the overall intensity will be 3dB more than one of the things creating the noise. This rule relates to any two or more things making the same level of noise. In conclusion, you obviously won't be able to know the exact noise output when counting in the vibration, if you have multiple fans at different noise intensities and distance from the case but providing the company gives a measurement of how loud their fan is, then you can use this rule to get a rough estimate of you computers output of noise in decibels.

Aim: The aim for this build is for high quality gaming (ultra settings) and then later playing on a 1440p monitor I play mostly FPS, RPG's and strategy games. Budget/Location: The money I have available to spend on this is just over $2300, probably more after Christmas. I live in Australia and currently the prices, both on http://au.pcpartpicker.com/ and linked below are from MSY the computer store I will most likely be purchasing from but if they are cheaper than please link them too me or i'll just find the prices myself. Monitor/s: I am intending on getting one of the 1440p monitors from Korea, and join the 1440p club but i'm currently using a 24" 1920x1080. once I get the 1440p monitor i plan on using the 1440p one as the main monitor and the 1080p one as a secondary for monitoring. Why i'm building a new PC: I would like a high powered rig to be used in the future needing little upgrades in the future, only if there are big updates in something or if I get more money. I plan on Overclocking my CPU, hence the water-cooler, I am a little on the fence about this build I switched just recently from AMD to Nvidia cards I just wanted some suggestions on this, This will be my first proper build all by myself, the previous 2 were build mainly by my dad and I mostly just helped a little. Ask any questions you need to know I will probably answer most I would also like to start video editing. Games: I enjoy playing FPS and Strategy games and would most likely be playing those.
